Why would this shorts collection push back Cinderella? I figured it wouldn't effect the Cinderella DVD/Blu-ray release.

Then again, June will make it three months since the film's original release and we have heard little to nothing about the DVD/Blu-ray aside from some select special features...

Haha I didn't explain myself very well. There were rumors that Cinderella was going to be out late June, probably based on Disney movies coming out 3 months after theater release. If they're already announcing this August release--which features the short played ahead of Cinderella--it makes me think Cinderella won't be out until later than rumored. Now I over explained, didn't I?
 
Haha no you're fine! I just got confused for a minute there. I would like for it to come out sooner rather than later, but seeing they haven't actually given a release date yet, it makes me think that we will probably see the movie come out in August or sometime after. I think August would actually be a good month to release the film simply because its the same month as the D23 expo.

I know a lot of people are excited about the idea of 17'' Slave Jasmine, but I just don't think it will come to be. It makes more sense to put her in the outfit she's most identified with (unless of course they are making more than one Jasmine). And then there's the fact that the innuendos going on between Jasmine and Jafar during that scene is still very, very unpopular with a lot of adults and especially parents.

I'm not saying there's no way it will happen-I think Jasmine WILL be wearing the slave outfit when/if the Heroes vs. Villains sets come out, but I can't see it happening for the 17'' line. I'm happy that Jafar and Aladdin are still in the conversation though. :)

They probably wouldn't use the word "slave" anywhere in the description, either. It's not very politically correct. Also, if they were to make more than one version of Jasmine, it'd be more likely we'd get her turquoise outfit and the purple outfit than the red one. Those two are the more iconic, I think.
 
I've read on a doll blog that Disney likes to "surprise" collectors every year with something new and different.
So the 17" Merida and Elinor was the first two pack, the Disney fairies, the Wedding Cinderella doll. So maybe they are trying to surprise us with a Red Outfit Jasmine instead of just her Blue Outfit.

I don't think these are the real deal, though-the dolls are really lacking detail and the teal Jasmine's box looks like an exact copy of LE Alice's. What do you all think?

The hand shape is also off, the 12in dolls have curved hands, while the 17 in dolls are more flat.
 
I think that is someone trying out to see what she might look like. Those are definitely not real photos, more like collages.
