DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Jasmine is not as popular as Ariel and Elsa. Yes, she's the most popular non-white princess, but she's not as popular as the other princesses. Disney store hyping her up has nothing to do with her ethnicity, so stop trying to stir trouble
As for the Cinderella comparison, if you stop thinking with your heart and start thinking from a business and marketing point of view, you'll see that it's merely one of the final marketing pushes for the movie's release in theaters. Also, you say that Cinderella got a $500 doll, but I can guarantee you that 99.9%, if not 100%, of the collectors here don't want to see something like that again.
Also, I'd say that Disney thinks this line is so popular that they don't need to remind people that the doll is coming out, and honestly, if you don't know that the doll is coming out in the beginning of August, then you shouldn't be getting her. Besides, less hype means that it'll be easier for collectors to buy the doll.
And one last thing, Jasmine is getting a doll. Y'all need to stop complaining about the lack of diversity in this line. Disney will get to the other princesses, but it's hard for them to do that when nobody buys the LE Pocahontas and Mulan dolls. In fact, all the ethnic princesses last year were discounted and several made it back to the shelves weeks after the release date. So maybe Disney isn't at fault for not making dolls of the ethnic princesses.
Personally, I blame the film makers. We have white princesses that have a magical dress change, a mermaid, a phenomenal ballroom scene, a princesses with long blonde hair, and an amazing show stopping full of magic empowering song (Elsa). While the ethnic princesses are stuck with non- magic stuff. I mean, a girl at the age of 5 or 6 isn't going to want to sing about nature or join the army, most want to relive the magic of the movies. Let's hope Moana can change this!

Honestly, I don't think their "unpopularity" is why they didn't sell last year, I think it was because DFDC part 2 was a rather underwhelming and bland set all together (with the exception of Cinderella and Aurora) in my opinion. Had the designers put some effort into last year's set maybe then the princesses of color would've sold out.
