I get them all. but I refuse to do this set should it be real. Its over kill and the price for retail is unreasonable to me. Im learning to be greatful for the "Mass limited editions" (teal jasmine) and not worry about varients (red). lol because 5,000 isnt really limited anymore its going to be about the limited limited editions of 100-500 it seems.
Im guessing if they do the platinum set, then it will be alladin in his prince outfit with purple jasmine, that's just my guess, and I miss the old days when you can get a high quality doll that didn't skimp out on details, for only 100$. It makes the regular le dolls seem less special, and if the platinum set is true. Then I bet that it will cost 500$, or more.
Yeah.... I would start saving up if people want to get this set. I am 99% sure that it's true. Why? Because LE500 Cinderella.
I wouldn't surprised if this set was just a 100 or 200 limited set.
If this Aladdin set is true, then I guess this is something that is going to happen with nearly every release now.
That price is what my top limit would be for the more expensive second hand grail dolls, which is why I still don't have Coronation Anna or Snow White.
750 dollars for the LE jasmine and aladdin set. So now only riches can buy the dolls. It's the end for the ordinary collectors. prepare your 700 dollars for Emma watson belle doll.

The thing I liked about these dolls over BJDs (I used to collect those, too) was that I could actually attain a beautiful doll for $100. BJDs the size of a 17" LE doll cost anywhere from $400-$1000, if you're looking at a limited set. Now it seems like I might as well go back to artist-crafted dolls rather than mass-produced, poorly detailed Disney dolls if they're going to go at a rate of $750. I might as well go get some of the unattainable dolls for that price! I feel bad enough for everybody who can't have their 17" grails (and I thank God I got my purple Rapunzel before her massive price jump) but now it seems we're to expect a sort of "basic" LE doll and then the ~~special~~ LE doll. The whole purpose of them being LE is to feel like you're getting something special! These super limited sets and super high prices just undermine the single dolls
REALLY hoping it's just a rumor… but knowing Disney, it's probably not.
I don't mind if harrods makes the super limited set, it doesn't seem as bad when they make an le doll, since it's for that particular store. But when Disney is just churning out all these dolls for lower quality, and stunning dolls for unattainable prices, then it makes it seem less fun to collect; I felt the same way for a while when they announced the harrods Aurora, and I felt we were shortchanged since Disney should be making high quality dolls anyways. I guess the days of buying one doll of that character with super fine quality fabric, details, and accessories are over.]
the thing about harrods or d23 past years is that its usually a more embellished doll variant of one that was "mass" produced. if they making completely different outfits on these dolls then it becomes that much harder to get that particular doll. for example if they made only 100 snow queen elsas what would that be like to the majority..... I just dont like that they would make a completely different doll like that, like red jasmine or now a purple jasmine thats not available in a "basic" form. so thats kind of disappointing because its like instant grail status

Or like wedding Cinderella. I guess the new thing now is making dolls with different outfits, at unaffordable prices. If they are making this set at that price, then it better be jaw dropping.

Exactly! They've gotten lazy, and it's cheaper to cut corners. They know the line is successful and they know that we'll buy it no matter the price because we collect. And even if we don't, scalpers will.
I don't get the whole higher the price, lower edition size really. An example that disproves that is le Alice. I think it's just an excuse for Disney to be greedy.

I guess it's because if the doll is more expensive they assume less people will buy it? They don't want to be stuck with unsold items.
Or maybe it's because the more exclusive it is, the more people will want it?
