DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Surprised no one has mentioned this here, but Radio Disney Club revealed some new info on the wedding platinum set. It will be LE 250, and the box will be similar to the wedding Cinderella doll box where it has two flaps that open up to reveal the doll inside. It will also have green, blue and gold coloring on the box similar to the Art of Jasmine merch. Its apparently scheduled to release the same day as the Diamond Edition, but other sources say the release date is November 11th, which is the 23rd anniversary of Aladdin. Remember that all of this is still a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. Even though I don't plan on buying it (even if I wanted to, I can't afford it and its probably gonna sell out really fast anyways), I am really interested to see what it looks like. I bet its going to be gorgeous!
We also got some really nice pictures of Aladdin! I think he is going to look fantastic in person.
Honestly, while I really do want Aladdin, my opinions on him seem to constantly shift depending on what picture I look at. One picture makes him look bland, and another one with different lighting at a different angle makes him look great. I think it comes down to his hair and his position in his box. I usually don't debox dolls, but I think I will change his pose in his box and give him a small trim. I think that will solve the problem. I also don't think I am ever going to stop complaining about him not having the lamp LOL! Anyone know any lamps from previous dolls that would work well with his scale?
I think alladin's hair looks fine, I think it's because of all the gel that they used it gives it a sharper look. And as for deboxing dolls, i can only last a week before I take a doll out of its box! I've thought that I won't truly enjoy these dolls in their boxes, and someday we all die and what will it matter in the end? Oh well, to answer your question about the lamp, didn't the new singing Jasmine doll come with a magic lamp, if it did it might be a tad bit too small.

I like to keep mine boxed personally because I just like keeping them in the best possible shape and they tend to look fine as they are. Most of the dolls are posed well enough that I don't really feel the need to unbox them and mess around with them. Not to mention that it protects them more and keeps things like dust out for the most part. Aladdin is one of the only ones to date where I feel like I need to move him around a bit. I get why they posed him like that, but it just looks so off in all the pictures I have seen of him so far. As for the lamp, the one from the singing Jasmine doll is too small unfortunately. I have been looking for some on eBay and have found quite a few, but I don't know if any of them are to scale.
If I could, I would buy a doll to keep in the box, and one to take out, but since my dolls are in my room, space is limited. The only place I can display these dolls is on my dresser, and I only have room for one more; but if and when they make another le Snow White, and le Belle, then in the words of Drizella Tremaine," I'll make it fit!" Lol!

They look very lovely deboxed! Especially Ella where it allows her dress to poof out more. I just prefer to keep mine in their boxes, but I totally understand wanting to debox them and the bit about the space issue. I have Maleficent in the very corner of my room, and I have absolutely no idea where Aladdin is gonna go when I get him. Same for the designer dolls. I need to get some more shelves soon lol!
I'm getting kinda nervous for the Aladdin release day. While I'm confident in my chances at obtaining a doll at my store (due to both Aladdin's popularity and the fact that my store is located in a mall with strict rules about what time lines are allowed to start forming), I'm not completely sure I'm gonna be able to make it to my store that day! My mom's been sick lately, so if I have to drive her to a doctor's appointment, then I'm probably gonna miss out, which means the only shot I'll have is online and I hate limiting myself to that kind of possibility. Sure, I've done online purchases for these dolls, but only as either a last resort (17" dolls) or a precaution (Designer Dolls). Granted, my mom's heath comes first and foremost, so if I have to do it that way, fine, but it's still stressing me out and the last thing I need is MORE stress, ya know? Darn it, Disney! Grr! Arg!
I am totally green when it comes to buying Disney's limited edition dolls, and was wondering how to go about placing a pre-order for the Frozen Fever dolls. Any help/tips/insight from all you experts would be greatly appreciated!
A lot of people don't seem to want Aladdin, and with Jafar's lower edition size more people may try to get him first, so Al may not sell out as fast online.
Hope your mom feels better soon!
I know exactly what you mean ... I'm suppose to be getting the three dolls one week from now & space is getting ... Well I'll let the pictures do the talking.
For his pose, I'm on the same page as you when it comes to leaving the dolls in their boxes as they're literally perfect the way they look & it'll be authentic once years come by. His hair isn't actually too bad cause it's actually the correct length. It just needs to be style more & it would look movie accurate! Now I'm with on the lamp situation & that Disney totally missed that opportunity to use as a prop. Like come on Disney, if you weren't gonna do a Genie doll, at least give Aladdin the lamp to represent some Genie. I was almost ready to cut off my statuette of Aladdin holding the lamp & give it to my Aladdin doll but it looks like it would still be too small for it.

I'm sorry to hear that. But I wouldn't worry about it. Even though Aladdin is popular as a character, boy dolls rarely ever sell out quickly. Even if he was to, then I don't see him going for much on the secondary market. Plus even if dolls sell out online, stores usually have some left over. I remember three Phillips were at mine for almost a month before they got rid of them. Either way, I hope everything works out in your favor!
EDIT: Whoops just realized that someone already replied to you! But still, I wish you the best!

The frozen fever dolls aren't preorder. If you're going to buy them in person, you should get to the Disney store nice and early.
I would say call also call the store before 11/3 to verify what time they will put them out and how they will do it. I have to drive about 45 minutes to get to my nearest store, but there are a couple clustered together, so I called to find out how they'd handle the Snow/Hag set. I was told by both stores it was a raffle, but one store did it first thing in the morning and the other did it at 1:00 pm. Not sure if they'll handle the Frozen Fever dolls the same, but I will call ahead again. I'm no expert on in-store purchases as I've bought all mine online, but I'm not risking it with the Frozen Fever dolls.
