DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
So what happens next? ... Will there be a "Platinum" line of the LE dolls?
Platinum Snow White for nearly 400?
Platinum Ariel? Belle? Elsa? Another excuse to do more LE stuff? I don't know, i'm kinda afraid... Would love to see more LE dolls... But not for that price tag...

The new releases are part of a different line then the Heirloom dolls. It's called the Film Collection or something like that. Most likely, the BATB one will be out next, and we'll only get new ones as the live action movies are released. If you're not a fan of the new price, send Disney Store an email as well. Although, I kind of doubt it's going to be $450 here. There's a ton of importation taxes in Europe and inflation that would drive the price that high.

This line is insane and stupid. I love the heirloom collection but I thought THOSE were expensive. Goes to show how money hungry Disney Store is. The dolls do have a noticable difference though. I HATE that cinderella has shiny skin like Maleficent. But I love all the crystals and jewels she has as well. Plus imagine the SHOES!

I don't think these are considered film collection dolls, are they? I thought those were 12". I just want to see them in their boxes lol. I figured they would be Heirloom just as Alice was (released in correspondence with the live action version). Is this something new? :o

EDIT: Just kidding, read the posted announcement. Bizarre. I bet this will continue with Emma Watson's Belle in Beauty and the Beast then. And whatever they decide to do next. I think it is kind of exciting!! Considering we were "running out" of options for the Heirloom line, I think this may be where they take it from here. This makes my wallet happy because I know I won't want them all in the future.

when we realize how many flipping dolls that would be!!

It's hard to say whether I like these new Cinderella dolls or not until I see better pictures, but I just flat out can't afford around $450 for one doll -- especially immediately after all these other dolls being released. :ugh: With an LE edition size of only 500, I probably wouldn't stand a chance anyway. Jeez, Disney is getting ridiculous. I hope the dress is made of real silk with real embroidery and encrusted in swarovski crystals for that price. So now we have a "Platinum" collection exclusively for the uber-wealthy. I think I need to find a new hobby!

I think I need to find a new hobby!

Quoted for truth!!!!

Mostly I'm sad that out of all these dolls that came out recently, I only wanted Fawn. But, if this is the way the LE line is headed, I'm definitely moving on. I don't need to pay $500 for one doll (probably more like $650 Canadian) just because the edition size is so small and especially when it's just a bigger version of the playline doll. Following the disappointment of the Frozen release, I hope I'm just being a suck and will be bouncing with excitement when we see pics of the beautiful Aladdin dolls.

BUT on the bright side, I'm saving over $1,000 on the March dolls, so I should really stop complaining.

They're up the in the Disney blog $500 (before tax) for wedding version yikes!

Only differences I see from my 12" version is:

Size 17"? It doesn't say 17" for the wedding doll
Wedding ring.
Flower design runs all through the back.
Rooted eyelashes.
Buttons (sleeves and back).
Double layer skirt.
Lots of rhinestones.
Edition size.

Very disappointed that the wedding doll doesn't have embroidery in the gown. She seems a bit far-fetched for price with the minimal amount of details. She is still lovely but I think the price may be a tad ambitious. Of course, she will undoubtedly still sell out in seconds.

I can't make a post on their blog, I keep getting a 404 error. But this is what I tried to say:
I'm sorry, but what exactly makes this doll $500? The rate exchange for the European release is less than $450. Is this doll's dress hand painted with Swarovski crystals and real gold inlay? I like the design of the doll, but there's no ability for most people to pay $500 for a single doll.

It's a really unrealistic price for Disney Store to put on a doll. I understand that it's limited to 500, but that doesn't mean that they should be making 50000% profit off of it. But I guess it's up to the people who purchase the doll to decide whether or not it's worth it.

This is fricking crazy ($500 for wedding dress C) and very very sad on Disney's part. Going into these prices +$250 and I'd prefer jewellery instead! Let the scalpers buy them all and see them sit on ebay forever. Jeez

After seeing the high res pics, I'm actually nervous about the Aladdin dolls. They turned Cinderella into some sparkling, sweaty mess. What are they going to do to Jasmine???

I have zero interest in the wedding Cindy. The price is ridiculous. I expected a Harrods type treatment, but she looks less detailed than wedding Rapunzel. What's going on with Disney this year? And, worse still, what's going on with people who are willing to pay $500 for a doll that should be the standard $129.99 price? (I'm adding that $10 for the actor royalties upgrade)

This is weird. These dolls have brought on too much greed. The fun is really vanishing </3

I agree, out of all the dolls released this spring, Fawn is the best.

I'm still on the fence about Frozen, but after this announcement of these Cinderella dolls I'm feeling really turned off by the whole thing to be honest. It's too much all at once, the quality doesn't seem to be the same as it once was, and now Disney's releasing "special" LIMITED limited editions that are just out of reach to a lot of collectors.

Yeah, just saw these dolls on the blog. I'll pass. Disney is crazy if they think that doll is worth $500. It doesn't even look that different from their classic version except that the doll has rooted eyelashes!! And why does the blue dress doll look like she's been dipped in oil. What is with the shiny skin?

If you do manage to post that on the blog don't be surprised if they delete it. Disney is notorious for deleting any type of negative comments on their official blogs.
