Hi everyone,

I have two signed pins for sale. This weekends DLR release of the Sci-Fi Academy's Piece of Alderaan History featuring Darth Vader and the quote "Our Finest Hour." On the back it says "This pin does not actually contain pieces of Alderann." Each pin was signed by Casey Jones and is LE 1000. You could only get 2 pins signed that morning so these are going to be very rare.

I'm asking $32 + $2 for shipping each so $34 shipped the CONUS. I will ship overseas if you are willing to pay the exact amount of shipping.

I would like to extend the the thank you for the $5 discount for the many friendly collectors on this Forum that can purchase your pin on eBay for around $30 + $2 s/h. It's nice to see a "new collector" get a wristband and a friend to purchase pins so they can sell on eBay and find this site to also sell.

How about trading your many extras for pins so the many members on this site that would have maybe received an email and would have purchased it for their collection actually received it but now you have them for sale above the going rate for resale at the moment.

You should work for Disney. Sell, Sell, Sell and pay no attention to true collectors.

Just a thought. So get out there and trade.

This is very true, just keep in mind that this is the same guy who plans to basically copy everything about PinPics (including "wants" and "owns", as well as "the same numbering system, descriptions, rarity, year, collection number, similar pictures as pinpics, etc...") and put it into an iPhone app. (But don't worry, I'm sure he'll give us a "discount".)

Actually these 2 pins were purchased after the 1pm time when they were available for anyone, wristband or not. They are $32 on ebay not signed and one unsigned pin already sold for $35. I am selling them to buy more pins currently on ebay. I am pretty new to collecting and there are not many pins I want that are comparable trade to this pins value. One pin for example is the Grand Californian Golden Poppy pin and the 5th anniversary pin which both happen to be on eBay currently.

I have tried to trade with people, such as yourself, at the parks but 90% of you are full of yourselves and won't trade with beginners or you only want the advantage. Oh look, tables turned and you want to whine about it. Piss off, boohoo in someone else's BST ad.

I don't plan to copy anything other than pinpic numbering order and pictures. Pinpics is pretty much the website for Disney pin categorization. Every pin for sale on ebay, for trade on here, etc. references their numbering system. I did not start/create that system but I use it. I did not come up with the ISBN numbering system but if I'm selling a book I am probably going to reference it. I know you might be in your own little pin trading world but pin trading is far larger than just a few "senior members" on a forum. And I am not copying the entire website, only hidden mickey pin collections at the moment because that is what I am interested in. Pinpics had an app for Palm which is dead. Iphone and android is where it is at now. I am taking the time to create an app on the iPhone which is not exactly quick and easy, I see no problem with charging $.99 or $1.99 for the service I provide which is to have a quick and easy mobile application to track pins while you are trading at the park. My app will have only a single swipe below each pin that says "Have/Want" and will reference the pinpic number so the user can communicate with the rest of the pin trading world which pin they need or have. The app will have pictures, you will not have to access the internet. iPod touch users can use it as well as iPhone and iPad. There is no way to reference every single pin without linking to pinpics via some link-generating software. I am not linking to PinPics because they specifically request not to link to them because I'm sure they pay for bandwidth on their servers. If anything you should be happy because the app will hopefully open pin trading up to more people. If it takes on then maybe I'll add to the pins in the app but I'll never have every single one, that app would be HUGE!

I am new to collecting, maybe not as experienced as some of you people but to a new collector you are all pretty rude. I am one of the charter members on the largest golf forum on the web currently with over 140,000 members. If I treated people like you guys have here you'd be given a nasty gram from a moderator for questioning someone's sale and probably had a few other senior members tell you to back off on the new guy. Not to mention attitudes like yours run off new members. If I want to charge $100 for these pins whats it to you? I probably wouldn't sell them at that price. I want to raise more money to buy more pins. I really want some cool pins that I know the owner paid $8.95 for and wants $35. That's their right. They have rare pins that are old, are you questioning their prices? No, just me cause I'm new and my pins are new?

If you are interested in trading, do you have a PinPics ID? That might help some who might to try and trade with you for these. I know I do not have a problem dealing with beginners as we all have to start somewhere.
 
I just want to say for the record that I said nothing about the price of the pin above. In fact, I agreed that it was his right to charge whatever he wants for it.

I am only concerned for the creators of PinPics, without whom we would all be completely lost, and the fact that you would be making money off of them, by basically turning their website into an app without their permission. If you would like to contact them and get permission to use their ideas, and give them a royalty from it or something, that would be fine, as long as it is mutually agreed upon. Just don't go around telling everyone you are going to basically copy everything they've done. (Please note that when I quoted you above, that it was a DIRECT quote of what you said in your other post, which I linked to in the post.)

Again, I just want to reiterate that I am not questioning the sale of this Star Wars pin. I am questioning your intended unauthorized PinPics app.

For the record, I'm pretty sure I know which other seller you are talking about, and people have questioned their prices as well in the past on this board. If they were on this board selling their pins at those prices, I'm pretty sure someone would've said something as well.

I don't think anyone is questioning you simply because you are new, but I am not friends with Tr8dWitMe, so I can only speak for myself. Just because it says "DPF Senior Member" by my name does not mean that I think I have any more rights here than you have. I did not put that there myself; it is something the website added automatically. I mean, geesh, I've only been here a few months! I feel super new as well (although I'm not new to collecting). But with that being said, I do want you to know that being the new guy does not give you "carte blanche" to go off the handle as you did above. I think we should all (including myself) take a deep breath, and try to be nicer to each other from this point forward. (NOTE: this doesn't mean that I'm all of a sudden in favor of the PinPics app. haha.)

I agree that people shouldn't complain about prices of pins on here. If the price is too high, no one's going to buy. If someone does buy, obviously it was the right price for that person. It works itself out in the end, and the people that complain are the ones that usually want a steal for it. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, but hate to see new members picked on.

We also need to be nice to new people I mean hey we all went to school to learn right?? and that's what this website and all other pin sites are all about.

BTW Disney company job is to sell as that's what keeps them going true they can be pricey most of the time but they look at it this way either you buy it or you miss out on it ok that is all from me,

I attempted to contact pinpics twice well before I came on this forum and received not even a reply. I would not have minded some sort of royalty deal with them if they were able to provide me with their database. I am not selling their information, I am selling a mobile application of pins that references their information becuase it is the leading organization of said information. I have had to manually type each pin group and brief pin description as well as gather and organize all the pictures. PinPics often links to other pins in a series but often they do not have the entire series on one screen, especially for releases like the Hidden Mickey / Cast Member Lanyard series sets. My app will have each pin in the series in a row for users to view all at once. I would have liked to include more data than just the pin group name, year, and pinpics number but that is all I am providing at the moment. I would love to be able to somehow team with Pinpics and maybe add a functionality where people can download/upload the pins they have/want from the app but that is WAY beyond my talents as a developer. As it is I am paying someone over $150 to help me with a particularly troublesome step in my app development as it is. I'm sure I could scoure eBay and google images and find pictures of all the hidden mickey pins but if they are all on pinpics then I can just go there. The images are copyright by Disney anyways, I think, if Pinpics wanted a royalty they'd be essentially licensing Disney's images to me. I will include all the copyright disclaimers and most likely give credit to pinpics. I don't want to take away from them.
I am aware of at least 2 other people attempting to make an iPhone app for pin collecting currently. I am not the only one, probably just the first to talk openly about it. I am not set out to replace Pinpics, I am a fan of them and what they offer. With a few thousand dollars I am sure you could turn PinPics into a great app where you can take pictures and add them, quickly add to wants/haves. Heck, I even thought about a function that would use video recognition to identify a pin and pull up a pinpics page for that pin. Perhaps with Disney themselves backing you you could design that but my app is very very basic and probably won't even appeal to the hardcore LE-only traders.
 
I think that the price is fair. The pin is what $15.95 plus the time and effort of getting the pin (driving to the park, waiting in line, purchasing the braclet,and buying even more of the pins after the event) and the fact that it is also autographed. And it is the OPs pin so he could sell it for how ever much he wants to sell it for.
 

First off, I'd like to say don't judge everyone in pin trading by a few. There are those who are kind, generous, and very helpful. I always stop and talk to new traders and try to help them with their pins. I give away a LOT of pins each time I visit the park and I share pin trading with anyone who wants to know. I resent being "lumped in" with people you don't like. You don't even know me. I also collect a lot of new pins.

As for you app idea. I think it's a great idea, but I would run it past the pinpics folks just out of courtsey. I have an Iphone and would love to be able to look at just my wants or just my traders. I have screen shots, but only for people I know and trust. Your idea is good, but be respectful to those who went before and are still at it. They are nice people and would probably help you, but again, out of courtsey, ask them.

OK, off my soapbox now. Welcome to pin trading and I hope you are just very careful with the Hidden Mickeys you buy. There are a lot of scrappers out there and I would hate to see you get burned. Good luck and happy hunting.
