Hi. Does anyone know Pinpics trader AUSTINTRADER? He sent me a trade request and I am willing to trade but he has no references at all on Dizpins. I have read that some people will request that a trader with no references mail their pins first, receive them and then send their pins. Is this a reasonable request? The pins we would trade are higher end so I am just being a bit cautious. Your suggestions will be appreciated. :)
 
I'd say it's a very reasonable request. I wouldn't mind if someone who has a lot of references like you would ask me.

I don't know them though.
 
Pretty sure it's just a troll. I got requests on my personal pinpics and the one I share with my girlfriend from this user and both offers are WAY too good to be true.

someone posted on the Confessions page that they like to do this to get people all excited. terrible thing to do!
 
I received a trade request from a 1st time trader and asked for them to send theirs first. They told me when they mailed it but unfortunately they did not put tracking on it. I still haven't; received it and I feel awful that their 1st trade seems to have gone wrong.

If they are just trying to get people excited they have to be more realistic and make it a little believable... they offered LE100 Ahoy Ariel for Rapunzel perfume bottle. LOL

If the lopsided trade request wasn't a red flag, then the e-mail address definitely was, as is his Trades page on Pinpics.

I got a request from that person for a pin I know is nigh on impossible to find (Ahoy! DA Ariel), they wanted a lot for it but it was still lopsided in my favour... but only because my traders suck :lol: I'd be very careful! I guess you guys are aware already, though! :)
 
I was looking for some high end pins, just perusing and his name came up almost every time as having that pin. Don't know anything about him, but seemed a little odd.

I had to know. So I went to Pinpics and looked at his/her traders. Wow. Someone spent a lot of time setting up every grail pin in existence. :dislike:
 
If you want to trade, you can always suggest a mediator / go-between? I know some of the moderators here are okay with being the one that all the pins are shipped to, and then shipping them out to the right people, but you have to pay the postage twice (one to get to the moderator, and one from the moderator to the final destination).
 
I got super excited when I saw today that someone on pinpics has Pip PTD for trade... until I clicked to see who is was and it was just Austin Trader. :(
 
Honestly, I've heard A LOT of people got a TA from this person recently. I wouldn't necessarily rule them out as a troll immediately, they could just be a trader who bought pins years ago and finally discovered online trading BUT make sure whoever trades with them that they trade first. If you receive it, post here and let us know.
 
With NO references I ALWAYS ask them to ship FIRST, upon receipt I will send my pin. If they deciline I just move on.

Oh bummer. I just saw they had one of my grails up for trade and sent them a message, then came here to search the name to see if they were a DPF member... and found this thread instead. :/

Well, if they reply back, I'll ask them if they're willing to send the pin first and/or go through a third party, I guess. *sigh* Knew it had to be too good to be true!
