Or is it just all high end, high value, grails, PTDs etc?

Yes.

Personally, I don't. I can only trade through mail and my shipping costs are way too expensive to trade for random open edition pins. The price for shipping is even more expensive than the OE pins I'd trade. I only trade for pins I really want and keep.

I agree with olafolf re shipping costs, would love to trade my rack pins
tried but no ones seems to want them , I've not even added most to pinpics they just sit there in my trader books
But would love to trade your uk Alice pin please
xxxx

I don't have the Wednesday Aliens pin :0)

my pinpics is sacol4940 and my collection is up to date on there (I dont have many pins as I'm fairly new)

Like everyone else said, the shipping costs are getting a little high. If I really want the pin then I will trade or I will try to make it a multi pin trade to try and make the shipping more worth it.

I continue to trade for normal pins, but I have a little rule:

Within the US - 3 pin exchange or more.
Outside US - 7 pin exchange or more.

Most of the time, if you are trading for just 1 pin, it isn't worth it.

I'm also now using Paypal, which includes tracking, and the cost is only like $1.93 per LBE... but yesterday I went to get new LBEs and spent $20 to get 40 LBEs... it adds up, ya know!?!

Sending ya a PM with trade offer in a sec!

To me, the most valuable pins are the ones I actually want. It could be an LE of 100 or an OE, doesn't matter...

That said, I don't actually do any trading for the simple reason that no one who has things I want is interested in what I have. I did do one trade once, at Disneyland, and that was an old Disney Store pin (NBC) for a Stitch mystery pin. Anything else I've been stuck buying, and some of those have been OE pins. Right now the only traders I'm building up are the Disney Movie Club freebies I get with every order, and I'm fully expecting that those won't go anywhere until I hit the pin boards on our trip to WDW in September.

Since I am a newbie, I too thought there would be more trading in OE pins, but I am finding it harder (though not impossible) for many of the reason sited here. Shipping costs, people searching for higher end pins, or a fair trade for an OE since most others have harder to find pins. However, like someone above said, the most valuable pins are always the ones you want, so it may just be a case of finding the right trader.

I still Trade and want OE pins. Looking for MANY with PinPic #'s BELOW 10,000, with ZERO luck. I also am trying to do multiples based on mailing costs being so high.

Yup I used to a lot, to get my Hercules collection, I traded for most of it and most arent considered high end as Hercules isnt too popular. But now I just have the rare pins left and I collect frozen and there pretty hard to get. Because I have such a limited wants list I don't see the point of buying random traders, now I only get the rare good UK releases and then trade them for high / end grail pins. but I can only think of 3 - 4 last year that where worth buying, they did get me good pins though.

Good heavens, its starting to sound like Mercenaries' guild in here with their motto, only for profit.

So let me break this disturbing trend.

Yes - I will trade just normal pins - I have a well deserved reputation at DL for doing exactly that when I am able to visit the parks.
Yes - I am not worried about having to do "multiple trades" due to postage - The sender is facing the same costs for postage that as I am in a one on one trade.
Yes - I will trade internationally

Due to family medical issues and a bad need to get my lists back up to date, I have been temporarily inactive on the trading front. But I am expecting this to change come March.

We may be overdue for a reminder that this is supposed to be a fun HOBBY not side business. If you're only here in search of profit, you'll ultimately do better investing the money in the stock market instead of retailing pins.

I trade for whatever I like but most people, including myself, like to multiple trade when dealing with HM or OE pins. I like to multiple trade whenever I can but if I want a pin bad enough I will definitely trade for just one pin. My resources are limited though so once my mailing allotment for the month is gone I am done until the next month. right now I have to wait until the end of the month to trade again...

I am interested in both your Lady and the Tramp pins. Take a look at my traders and let me know if you see anything.

I think at this point it's only worth it if you are able to find someone who will do a multiple trade of OE pins (and I've seen it happen many times). As I've said on another thread, why pay so much for shipping a single cheap trader when you can almost just buy that pin new for the same cost? I wish I lived in SoCal so that I could attend live events and do trading in person!

But yeah, I think I'm mostly going to collect LE through trades once I get my lists updated.
