I absolutely LOVE our pinpics links that are under our user names here. I love being able to click on them to see if anyone has any pins I need or if I have any that they do. It opens up the possibility to trade with people you haven't with before or someone you didn't ever think to trade with.

What bothers me, from time to time, is knowing that (randomtrader) and I have pins on each other's wants lists BUT we just can't seem to work out an even trade. I know there are a few people on here that I have tried working out trades with in the past but we just couldn't come to an agreement so we both moved on.

It is tough seeing their posts at times, knowing they have my pretty pins ( ) and knowing I have pins they need but it's just not working.

So CLOSE...but not enough.

I don't know, I was just thinking about this right now and was wondering if anyone else goes through this? Or am I just nuts? haha
 
yes, it bothers me!!! lol Especially when they see I'm new and want way more for their pin than is really worth. Happened once or twice. I do have a couple of nice pins, please don't lowball me because you think you can get away with it.

I haven't gone through this, but you're not nuts, I'm just new.

I don't have a lot of traders, so people mostly don't offer me trades yet. But all of you feel free; I'm happy to try.
 
Yeh, this month alone 3 different peeps (none of whom i have traded with before) we have a potential double and/or multi trade. I mean our pins were almostt dead even. All 3 times i just got a no thanks or im not trading those pins right now???!! um then take them OFF your traders. The worst one was a person who just had been going on and on about how they were sad cause nobody was trading with them and they never get any pins they want??? Then turned down a double trade. Thats why i totally ignore anyone who posts a "whinning thread" about no trades. OK i feel better.:soapbox:
 
Oh yeah, that's happened to me a lot. It's frustrating, but I've ultimately become philosophical about it: It didn't work out this time, I've had to wait a long time (and I do mean *years*) for some trades. What's also happened (which I try to put in a "balancing out" perspective) is that I'll be at a PTN, or trading with out-of-town friends, or getting a trade offer through Pinpics for a pin/pins I had listed on my "wants" that I *knew* I'd never get, and there they are, practically falling into my lap! Talk about your happy pin dances!
 
Aww it happens. I choose to not let it bother me though. Everyone just value pins differently and some are more like minded than others and some aren't so much. But its okay. I like some of the convo's I have in the midst of attempting to trade. You meet some genuinely nice people but your values vary. I just tell them I hope to try to again sometime in the future. Haha. But yes it does suck! Especially when its a grail. Just gotta cross our fingers and hope one day.
 
This actually raises a question for me about what other people do. I have some things listed in my traders that I *would* trade, but only for a super most-wanted pin. Someone suggested those should be listed in my traders. Then someone else that I declined a trade with suggested that those *shouldn't* be listed in my traders.

Partly it just seemed kind of sad to look at my one little page of traders every time I go to think about a trade... but also I put those in there because it's easier to look at "matches to wants" than to have go to the MyPinPics page every time, type in their name under wants, and type in mine under "owns" and look at my whole collection.

Do you all list things in your traders that you would give up, but only for a grail?
 

I think its completely fine. I have pins on my trade list that I would only give up for certain pins and I think a lot of others do too. I also don't take offense when someone tells me a pin is not for trade or you are looking for a specific pin. It's your pin you do what you want with it.
 
I think in good time they will eventually come. And if they don't, I might feel a wee bit incomplete, but the world will still turn.

Also, some people have different priorities on their sought after pins. I collect many different characters, but Sleeping Beauty, Ariel & Belle have more priority. I also like Tink, Thumper and Small World, those are lower priority. So, even if a pin is a dead match for someone's very sweet Thumper pin, I might still want to save my trader in hopes of getting a Sleeping Beauty pin I want.

So, it can be a wee bit disappointment if I get tunred down. But, just like I have my priorites the might have theirs.
 
I propose a three way trade system! Which pin are you looking for? . I've been thinking a lot about trying something new. Like Person A declares a pin and declares its value at $100. Then Person B, C, or D who doesn't have pin(s) or a pin that Person A wants in return would post up that they are interested in the pin. Hopefully then would Person E come in who wants what Person B, C, or D has that also has something that person A wants. The trades would then be completed. This is probably very confusing but hopefully I made some sense.
 

It makes no sense whatsoever Daniel and that's why I think we should try it! Just like in pro sports when third parties are needed to balance out a trade! Haha

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Personally, I'm just happy if I click on (a) the matches to someone's trades and (b) the matches to their wants, and neither one comes up with a big fat zero! :shock:
 
I have the same, the most with Little Mermaid pins and especially the PODM from the Little Mermaid.
Tyleet87 has such a nice scene, and I don't have anything from your wants and I could go crazy for it, lol
But I totally understand what you're saying
