Have you found a Disney pin at a thrift store, garage sale, estate sale, etc?

Yes, I find a few pins at thrift stores once in a blue moon. But picked up awesome collection at a yard sale a couple of weeks back. In the collection was...Gold Jail Scene, Inauguration, MAPO, and some other super rare pins. Maybe not a big deal to the 'gotta have what's hot today' club, for an old veteran like me, it was quite a thrill. Knocked a few off my want list from 13 years ago..lol Now, if I could just get that Mickey for President.....

WOW....That is the best find I have ever heard!! Why can't I get this lucky!!

My friend had just gone to a garage sale last Saturday morning, and found a lanyard with 8 pins on it (fab 5, chip and dale, etc). It cost $0.25. Yes I typed that correctly, a measly quarter. I said, you mean each pin? She said no...the whole thing. Lucky!

Wow...that is a super deal, your friend stole those pins. I go to yard sales almost every weekend and I have found some pins here and there but nothing like these two stories. Although Ohio isn't the best place to find Disney pins.

We saw quite a few today at an antique mall. Prices were pretty high, though. I am going to check out our swap meet to see if I can find anything good. :)

Wow just found a pin today 100 years of dreams Pinocchio pin new in package never opened at a swap meet...

The day we moved into our new house, our neighbor was having a garage sale. I went over to introduce myself and found a 50th anniversary Snow White pin for $1. My mother-in-law bought it for me as a housewarming gift.

I've found a lot of things at thrift and antique stores...

Wow!!! :eek2: You have found a lot!!!! Great job! :)

I never have-and I usually keep an eye out for disney stuff in general when I go to tag sales and flea markets. But I feel like it'd be something I'd be more likely to see if I lived around DLR or WDW. Be nice if I did end up coming across something, though.

Just keep looking! :D I live no where close to any Disney parks and have found like five now! ;) They do come far and few between for the most part, but they are out there! :D Hope you find one!!! :x:

I love reading everyone's stories and finds!!! :D I found another one at an antique mall yesterday, however it wasn't worth buying for the price they had on it so I passed it up! But they are out there!!! :D

i have found pins at garage sales--one here and there and then these dudes eneded up having boards of pins and i bought 100 pins, they were like $2 each but best of all i made 2 great frineds that i do dinner with and vacation with and they are the BLTBOYS on DPF! small world right?
But my biggy was when i got a tip from our own Fatdaddy that there was a auction house in nj that was auctioning pins--so i figured ah i'll check it out. HOLY DIAPER RASH BATMAN yeh i bought 750 pins for $1050. do the math. thats why i have such a kick *** collection. It was before i knew alot about pins and ended up with event pins/DSF/PODM/DA i mean if i knew then what i know now ....A- i would have been way more excited and spent way more $$ and i would not have left before it ended. I had been on my feet for 7 hours and they just started the HIGHer end stuff and i bailed DUMB DUMB DUMB

Great story!!! :D Still sounds like you made out pretty nicely!!!

My mom picked up a gold Club 33 lapel pin for me for $1.25. I had a couple, but it's still nice. And it's good that she knows the logo so she can keep an eye out for me. ;)

In the UK we have carboot sales (bit like a yard sale but you fill your car with whatever you are selling and usually drive to where the sale is being held and set your stall up outside the boot of your car!) Well I got 2 year of a million dreams lanyards for 20p each! There were no pins on them but I had a couple of them in my collection. It was getting those 2 lanyards that made me start collecting year of a million dreams pins!

I love car boot sales! You find people selling lots of random Disney stuff!

OMG this sounds like so SO much fun!!! I wish people did that here! I would so love to go!!! I guess it would be kind of like an American flea market, but the carboot sales sound like so much more fun!!! :D

Congrats to everyone. It sounds like I need to do some more Saturday shopping to find these treasures.

Definitely go looking when you can!!! There are pins to be found! Also, if I haven't heard from the other trader by next Tuesday, we will try to work out a trade! :D

Mine isn't really a thrift store...but I was at the Ohio State Fair this past summer..Someone was selling Disney pins. I went to check them out, but they were all Hidden Mickey's and low quality stuff ($5 a piece ROFL) I mean good hidden mickeys are around $5, but with the amount of HM's he had and the fact that he told me that he got them from a "guy" made me walk away very quickly. There is to say I have not found anything worthwhile. :(

My Mom and I love to go to antique malls and flea markets and we use to see tons of pins. Most of them were fake pins and such but once and a while we would find some hidden gems.

I tend to avoid them if they are like HM's and such...I go for the older pins and the ones on cards when I do see them! :) There is a person who has a lot of 120+ on Craigslist near me right now, asking $100 for them all, there are a few decent LE pins, but not sure if it would be worth the purchase!
