get pinpics to give access to the "owns" list

So DPP and PTDB both had the option to see trades, wanting, and owns but pin pics doesnt give the owns list

I asked a mod and he thought everyone else can see it but sadly I found out that "owns" list is only for admins
I'm sorry but what the ****

I find owns lists is helpful to track down pin traders who have long been gone and see if they can offer their pins for trade or sell

So I need help to get pinpics to add the option for everyone
 
The only problem I would have with that is that I am not interested in trading off my owns list. I would get annoyed if everyday I had people emailing me about some of my Disney auctions Jessica or Tinks from my owns list. If I want to trade it, it is on the trades list. However, I can see that some people may not feel that way. So maybe a checkbox could be added where if you check it, people can send you offers for pins on your owns list too.

^^^^^ This x 1000...ah let me count the ways...never mind, it would take all day

Plus pp only wants you to use their internal system so they can spy on you every hour of every day.. That's why I try to never use their new system, as if you have trouble with another trader and report it, boom, all your previous messages with said bad trader..POOF gone!!

For myself I have a few pins that I would NEVER consider trading (sentimental reasons usually). I have many others that I own but would consider trading.

Perhaps the check box could be deselected for pins that you would not trade, and selected for ones that you may trade.
 

i was talking to the mod via inbox but after asking him to just tell me the names of the members who on the pin (3 people) he went into my account and deleted the messages between us so i cant reply again plus deleted my whole sent box
 

This. I would be extremely annoyed if I got a bunch of people sending me requests for pins on my owns list.

Careful, PinPics policy clearly states you are not allowed to sell or buy using their venue. They can be real hard-butts about it too.

Yes, it's a liability thing.

And as for the whole concept of this thread, the whole idea of having separate lists for trading and owning is to have people contact you about TRADES and not owns. Like most people here, I would be annoyed if I was contacted about my owns. If you want to get old collections, try FB or eBay.
 
And owns not being viewable is not a new Pinpics or related to these owners. It hasn't been viewable since 2000ish. Probably, because too many people getting annoyed that people were contacting them about their owns.
 
This is why it surprised me that Owns were visible on DPP while it was around. If you want to see what someone owns, visit their profile, but you shouldn't be able to visit a pin and get a list of who owns it. That's just going to result in a lot of unsolicited trade requests.

However... I do believe it's important to know the number of people who own a pin. It's not 100% reliable, but if 200 people are showing as owning a LE 200 pin, that's a good indicator that the pin is scrapped. I really appreciated having that info.
 
If I recall correctly, DPP's "owns" feature showed only the total number of owned pins collectively, not a list of who owned them.

Yes, at the end it did. Originally it was a link to a list, just like wants and trades. Ethan changed it when users mentioned it.
 
Have to agree with Melonballer I would not trade from my owns either they are ones that I collected for a reason to remember my trip or favorite charater by. Nope would and will not trade off my owns

I agree ... the way it was after the change was very helpful.
 
I agree with melon, I'd be annoyed with constant emails/messages from people wanting my owns. Especially if the offers are low ball. You can see what people own if you know their name. That is enough for me. A PinPics mod once told me they don't want to add Owns because often, on low LE pins, there are more owns than the edition size, ie. LE100 that has 125 people "owning." I would like to see owns, just to see how many of a certain pin are in circulation. So on any given pin, just put the count of "owns" but don't put the names of the owners. Someone with some internet skills could do it though, find a way to export users from PinPics, and then have a web crawler look up all the pins in their collection.
 
I assume owns is the same as collection on the old PP? I do and did use that alot when looking into alot of peoples collections to get a feel for what they like when i wanted to ZAP them and i didnt have anything off their wants. I still cant figure out the new PP and have alot of difficulty finding members. I still don't know how to type in a name and do a match thingy. nope cant figure it out. I learned my way around the old site in less than a week, i have been trying for months on the new site and nada. such a bummer.
 
Ok a "Make Owns List Public" option is now fast tracked for PTDB. Should be pretty easy to implement, but gonna wait til the new design is live so I don't make extra work for Courtney. Thanks for the input.
 
I really would not want the owns list to be public either, and might not use the site if it were. I wouldn't want unsolicted requests from my owns.

As for the general idea in the OP, of getting Pinpics to do anything... that simply isn't going to happen. They're not going to change the site in ways they don't want to, no matter how many people petition them to.
 
If I owned rare and valuable pins, I wouldn't want some stranger messaging me asking me if I'd sell or trade it to them. If I was going to trade it, it'd be on my trades list. If I was going to sell it, it'd be on eBay.
