So that red pascal they released on soft opening... It has the old style backstamp and says Disney soda fountain on the back.

This makes me think they still have leftovers from the previous run. Which means we do not know if they will change the style, edition size or release methods once they switch to a new run of GSF PTS.

Also... PTS?:werd: What do you folks think of this? Pin Trader Sundae... No "delight" in the title, so no more "PTD"....

:coffee:What do YOU folks think will happen?
  • will they switch to a new backstamp with GSF on it?
  • Will they change the release methods?
  • Will they increase edition sizes????

:rock:Lets discuss! Its so exciting to have the soda fountain open again!

1. I think they will switch the backstamp to the front and print the pin on the back with the post
2. Release methods will change to just throwing a bin of pins down upon the crowd lined in the alley. FFA, then whoever walks away gets a free icecream
3. Edition sizes drop to 2 pins or less. Each pin will have a variant (well, really an error) totaling 200 variants for a total of 400 pins of each. An extra 100 pins will be created with extra rhinestones and sold at Harrod's for 5x the price.

in all honestly im not really fussed what the back says, I doubt it will change the popularity of the pin or its worth. it would be nice to see consistent releases.

Its still Disney characters, so Disney would have to be on it somewhere. Plus its still the Disney Studio Store attached to it. I doubt they'd change much else either way. I think other than adding the Ghirardelli, it was just a remodeling of the space. From what I saw, it looks more like a Disney Store now as opposed to the tight quarters that it once was, and the soda shop side just looks a lot more modern. I wanted to go today but I had to get back to the house.

Well least there isn't too many changes then.

Soooo PTDs will be called PTS? Have to get used to that...

I would actually not be surprised if this were to happen. But I would totally go to a release just to watch :p

You just won the internet!

We're never going to see "Ghirardelli" on the back of a PTD/PTS/PWP/WHATEVER. The pin and whichever character(s) are on it belong to Disney and not the chocolatier. Doing so just creates a sea of legal problems for Disney and I doubt they need to pay a team of property lawyers more then they already. do. :)

UNLESS, Disney has secretly purchased a portion of Ghirardelli and the chocolatier is now a member of the Disney family. I doubt it but you never know. :dunno:

Perhaps not

It wasn't a rude comment, it was a statement.

No no. i totally understand that ghiridelli wont be on the back. But i dont think they will keep the backstamp as "disney soda fountain" So i am wondering if they will make the backstamp more generic, or perhaps do "disney store hollywood" or something of that nature.

What if they did something like GDS, Ghirardelli Disney Sunday??? Probably not, but it would work and have both company's names! :) I would see no reason for them to change like the ice cream cone design stamp, but who knows! Really doesn't matter too much to me either way, I am not part of this PTD craze UNLESS it is a Jessica one (which I find 95% of to be not flattering to Jessica!)!

The only PTD I have is King Candy (obviously!), but I am needing the two Mad Hatter PTDs too. Other than that I'm just waiting for them to make a Sour Bill, King Candy in Cy-Bug form or Turbo. Unless they also release another King Candy at some point, which I wouldn't be surprised at.

According to the shadow box at DSS and the receipt they are now Pin Trader Sundae's. However, I think they continue to be in the same "group" as PTD's.

DSS will still use the ice cream stamp on the back. I don't think it's going to change hardly anything. All that does is add cost for a new mold. Also, I don't think you will EVER see DSS pins anywhere else just because there is a GSF somewhere else. DSS needs pin sales to supplement their income so they can afford to keep the El Cap running.

Yes, I call it DSS now as it is now the Disney Studio Store. The GIANT sign out front says so. DSS and the GSF&CS (Disney Studio Store and Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.)

we have always just called it SF (Soda Fountain) so I'm gonna stick with that, and I think people will know what I mean.

wow. show me the money. so sad that DSF... has come to this.... Goodbye dreams of them ever having good ice cream again. The kind they used to have. When the idea was to make a shop that would bring back thoughts of being a kid. Long past are the thoughts of doing things for the people. It is now and has been for a while so very clear that many of the Disney Bosses only care about money. Instead of doing biz with a small shop that makes things by hand the old way. They look for people that can make more and cheaper stuff. what a big let down....:nono: WWWD:nono:

Ew ew ew the new backstamp is ENOURMOUS and gross looking to me. :/ I'm hearing a lot of people are disgruntled with the "amount of advertisement" in the store. Not sure what that means!
