Heroes & villains collection first look

The Peter Pan set looks...weird BUT I'm SO happy to see something DIFFERENT. A male/male set! It's probably my favourite because it's the most unique. Other than that these sets don't really express heroes vs. villains. Snow White is the only one who has a worried/slightly scared expression on her face. Ariel is way too happy to be with Ursula, though I guess this would be when Ariel's going for the spell so she was happy to be visiting the sea witch. Rapunzel thought Gothel was her actual mother so whatevs to her looking happy. Elsa and Hans LOOK LIKE A FREAKING COUPLE. Like, there's more love there than there was in Snow White and her Prince's set lolololololol Oh well, they still look great.

Ariel, Ursula and Elsa have the shiny skin, Snow/witch , Rapunzel/Gothel and the men don't, thankfully. Eh, I'll take it on the water dwelling women and Elsa since she's magical but I really do wish DS would knock the shinys off (with the exception of Tink and her fairy friends, if they even make any more of them)

STILL THOUGH HOW COULD THEY NOT DO JASMINE AND JAFAR GAH </3 </3 </3

They had better get some kick *** 17" dolls that are not D23 exclusive to make up for this!

YES! hehe... my husband those too ahhhh!!! can't get over them. Great surprise tonight
It was an amazing surprise! I had a heart attack because I was like where is the add to bag button!! Do you think this will be the direct link for the general public then on September 14 to preorder the whole set?

Ok. So unlike a lot of people here... I wasn't a big fan of this reveal. For two big reasons that are effort and commitment.

1) Hans And Elsa:
  • Really wasn't a big fan of this set. Elsa looks exactly like the 17" doll, even her hair is at the same length. But with less effort.
  • I can't believe that her cape is not embroidered... How cheap is Disney?
  • I also don't like how everyone in this set got a make-over, except for Elsa and Hans. She looks exactly like she did in the movie! How is this supposed to be "Designer"? Just really poor and lazy on their ends. Whenever I look at these, all I can see is a fan making a custom version of the classic dolls (which sell for $16).
  • Hans, I can see some detailing in his coat, but his face-mold is just lazy. You can see in the image on the bag that Hans has an annoyed/angry face. Why didn't he have one in this set? They just rehashed his classic doll face and I find it annoying. This set is Disney 100% doing some fan service without going above and beyond. Which a $120 set deserves rightly so!
  • Score wise, I would give it a 2/5 for the lack of effort and originality.
2) Ariel and Ursula:
  • This is a set that screamed potential, but I think they shot for the moon when they designed this.
  • Ariel's design looks good on paper, but it's just too hard and intricate to replicate on a 12" doll. That's just with her top. Her tail and fins are amazing! And it is good to finally see Ariel with the right fringe! So aside from the top, I think they did a good job.
  • Ursula on the other hand... It's nice to see an Ursula doll with articulation, but they didn't really do much with the outfit... It just doesn't seem like they reinvented it. Her tentacles don't seem that long and big.. Interesting that she doesn't have the golden seashell necklace.
  • Funny how they look like Besties in the image.
  • A gallant effort from Disney, this doll gets a 3.5/5
3) Rapunzel and Mother Gothel:
  • My most anticipated set and one of the more disappointing ones.
  • Rapunzel: She basically has DFDC's Snow White's outfit. It's kinda annoying. The embroidery is nice, but it looks like they just stole the idea from Snow White and changed the pattern. I don't like how wide her skirt is. I think it should have been less wide and more flowey like it was was in the picture. Maybe change the material?
  • The tinsel in Rapunzel's hair is kinda perfect because you'd expect it from her!
  • Her face mold is not that good though... If you look closely on the image on the bag, she looks kinda mad.. I wish that they made that here or had her with a different expression. I'm getting tired of this expression.
  • As for Gothel.... Good on paper, terrible execution. Disney could have made her older with wrinkles and white strands on her hair. It would have made her character stand out more! But right now, she looks soooo similar to her classic doll but with a spruced up outfit. I like the dagger a lot, but I just think that the outfit is not that detailed. A lot of empty space. But I like that they included the cape and dagger.
  • This set gets a 3/5
4) Snow White and the Witch:
  • This is a rather interesting set. Because I think it turned out to be the best one.
  • Snow White looks amazing. The patterns on her skirt, while not 100% embroidered, look really regal and sophisticated. It's just stunning! Her top on the other hand... It looks kinda plane, but it would also looks bad if both the top and the bottom were filled with designs. Maybe they should have like a line in the middle or something, but the top embroidery looks good. Her sleeves on the the other hand, were not folded and tucked in like they should be. But that would be really hard to do on a 12" doll. My only problem with her is the face mold. She looks annoying. But other than that, a really well done doll.
  • But let's talk about the actual star of this whole series, the old witch, who looks flawless. This is how you put effort on a piece of paper and fully commit to realizing that effort. She looks phenomenal and 100% perfect. I especially love the basket filled with apples and that they gave her actual hair! Just amazing! Look at her face mold, her stance, her fingers. THIS is how you go above and beyond!
  • Set gets a 5/5!
5) Peter Pan and Captain Hook:
  • There's a tiny tinkerbell in this set! Say Whaaaaaa!!!
  • This is another perfect set. I mean literally, everything about this is perfect with the exception of one tiny detail.
  • Captain Hook looks amazing, especially with rooted hair! His coat is very detailed, and so are his other clothes! His hat looks great, although, maybe an actual feather would have been nice. He has special shoes which is nice to see and his sword looks nicely detailed. I'm also interested in seeing if his mustache is actual hair or plastic. But it wouldn't matter because he would look amazing either way! Another example of Disney going above and beyond!
  • Peter Pan looks equally amazing! Although, he's a little low on the design area. He pales in comparison to Hook. But his face mold is spot on and his hat is a nice touch! Although, I wonder why it's just molded onto his head.
  • This set is great, but only one half was perfect, and the other half is near perfect. A 4/5!

So ultimately, this set was an interesting gamble. It paid off when it came to the designs, but the dolls were a definite struggle. The stand outs are definitely Snow White's and Peter Pan's sets, with Elsa/Hans being the most disappointing set.

My ranking:

1. Snow White VS The Witch
2. Peter Pan VS Captain Hook
3. Ariel VS Ursula
4. Rapunzel VS Mother Gothel
5. Elsa VS Hans.

Thank You for reading.

I agree with you lordofanime, I am kind of disappointed with this reveal... I did expect a lot of this new serie since I have the complete Fairytale designer collection (except exclusive D23 Snow-White).
But now, I am sure I won't buy all these new sets. I am so disappointed with Elsa/Hans. I was waiting for ages to have a decent limited doll of Hans...and I have the classic one +embroideries...no thanks ! (I prefer so much the set D23, with the suspicious look on Elsa face, and Hans' ceremony costume)...but in both sets, I regret the lack of originality, they stick to the movie...and that' s sad for a designer doll...
I find kind of plain Ariel and Urusla set though I like really much the concept art. I do like Rapunzel and Gothel, but let's face it, it is because it is Rapunzel ♥ But same better on the paper ^^"
Snow-White and Hag is a good surprise (but I am not so fond of Snow-White and I have already the fairytale couple, one set please me enough).
And I love Peter Pan set ! It is the goo surprise for me ! There is even a little Tinkerbell (perfect).
I like Peter' s face, I like Hook (would be better deboxed, to have his hat on). I may purchase it, the set I was sure I won't buy XD

I love that we got a Peter Pan (plus Tink!) and Captain Hook set! I'm sort of biased because I love the film, but it's just nice to have something different in a designer collection. They look great, all brandishing swords and stuff. Rapunzel and Gothel look awesome too - both those two always make lovely looking dolls IMO and I love Gothel's expression. Snow White and the Hag look great also (I love the detailing and yay for getting the Hag), although I'd probably position them a bit better.

I'm not keen on the other sets as much. Ariel and Ursula look cramped in together and look like friends haha, although their outfits are stunning, so it's a shame. Elsa and Hans - why? It should be Anna and Hans really, although it is nice to see Hans as a designer doll - and the smiling is all wrong! If it had to be them two together I'd rather it'd be more like in the film, when Hans is brandishing his sword at Elsa.

One thing I do like about this set and I stated it in beginning, is the diversity in some of the characters, which is nice.

Really unimpressed with Elsa, but I love Snow and Rapunzel. Mega disappointed that I won't be able to get Coronation Elsa, I care so much more about her than Snow Queen Elsa...

I bet they release Elsa and Hans last! I hope not because the last one released is always the hardest to get! Overall I think the Rapunzel one is my least favourite because I don't like Rapunzels face sculpt and the colour of her dress is hidious! Do love her hair and Gothel though! My second least would be hook/pan, I'm glad they branched out and released something new but imo it doesn't work and something's looks off- the poses I think!.
Snow looks cute and I love the hag and Ariel and Ursula look great outfit wise but the small packaging ruins the set. Ursulas tentacles look better than on the 17 inch version! I can't fault the Elsa set and I much prefer it to the D23 one!

When I saw both Peter/Hook and Rapunzel/Gothel in the same moment it felt like Christmas morning!

By the way, PETER/HOOK? WHAT???? I know that idea came up but HOW MANY OF US THOUGHT IT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN (with a tiny Tinker Bell to boot)?? :bigthumb: Big thumbs up to Disney for these designs; right now I think I want at least three of the five!

Does anyone know in which order the dolls will come out? I guess Snow is coming out first, but I'm not really sure...

I love rapunzel and mother gothel! Usually have no interest in these sets but they are beautiful. Rapunzel's dress looks like something from the film concept art. Also adore Snow White but why the flats?? They look so ugly, especially with the horrible articulation on these doll bodies.
If I can afford rapunzel and have a chance to her, I will definitely try! Hans and Elsa are boring, didn't like ariel and ursula to begin with. Captain hook and Peter pan are well executed considering how bad males look normally in the disney line... Just look a bit cramped!

I will drop my opinion off in a second but I gotta say this before I forget about it; The very fact we got Peter and Hook this year has me hoping for a sequel based Pocahontas and Ratcliffe set because when she's in her huge ballgown and has her hair all did, she ends up dancing with him and they have a, "you again >:€," moment and that alone would make for some great slip cover artwork.

Ugh...I was going in hoping I would only want the Ariel and Elsa sets but now I really love the Snow White set as well and Im a little unsure on Rapunzel...
