Now that we have had our moment of levity , I want to truly say Hi to everybody again, now as a Moderator, and to thank everyone who PMed me, and posted in TheOtherSteve's welcome thread over in General Discussion. I also want to thank Cicada, Bricklayer, Dancecats, DisneyqueenUK, and Lucan for asking me to be part of the team. That being said, let me tell you all a little about myself:
I am 38 years young come December, and I have been collecting different things since I was 21-22. It started off as Transformers and Action Figures, but Betsy and I's first trip to WDW in 2008, it became pins (with some Transformers sprinkled in). I have belonged to two main forums in the realm of collecting, one for Transformers and this one. I have been a member here since I think the second day it was up and running, having been invited by Cicada while I was still over at DizPins. I have joined numerous ones over the years, but 99% of my posts are between these two genres and these specific forums. I do not consider myself an expert in pins by a long shot. I have questions about "Is this a scrapper", "Is this a good trade", etc; just like most people on this site.
I am a strong believer in everyone should have a voice in a discussion should they want to take part; but said discussion should remain polite and civil, or the points being made are lost to emotion. I want to be a laid back person, and will try to look at both sides of a discussion, and will try to remain impartial given any particular topic. If I feel I can not be, I will ask one of the others for help deciding on something. In the spirit of openness and knowing where I stand, I will openly admit that I purchased a PinPics premium membership; as some of their "perks" appealed to me the collector, being on the East Coast (like Pins@Cost), but I am not here to pitch it to anyone as it might not be the right choice for some users.
BUT, and I can not stress that BUT strongly enough, I will not tolerate name calling, insults, being rude to people, etc.
This is a public forum that anyone can join and participate in, and that anyone can read on the net, whether they are members or not. That means people who might be 60, who might be 40, and who might be 15!
The hobby as a whole is in a state of change right now, and there will be concerns, there will be angst, and there will be drama. My goal is to keep the drama to a minimum! I wholeheartedly support open debate if you feel a specific issue needs to be discussed. I understand that people are passionate about their points of view, and I respect that, but if you let emotions feed the discussion, 9 times out of 10, it will lead to arguments, and things then spiral out of control.
Hope that helps explain ME a little
Thanks for listening to my 2 cents
Bill
