I don't see a problem with DSF randomly announcing wristband distribution and people heading over to DSF to get their wristbands and then heading home.

Let's say DSF posts on Facebook at a COMPLETELY random time: "We are NOW starting to hand out wristbands, first come, first serve"

That would eliminate campouts and all it takes is about 30 seconds to put a wristband on and people leave. All we gotta do is come back ONE hour prior to the release ON THE RELEASE date. What's wrong with that idea. Any REAL and REASONABLE arguments/flaws with my idea are welcomed. Please don't bombard me with hate or calling my plan "stupid" or of the sort.

All that does is reward people around the corner from DSF. Kevin PTD was a classic example. It was gone to locals and locals paying tourists in a few hours. The only fair way is to either do a raffle/lottery and everyone has a chance. Or, like I've said al thousand times. Random online selection process where I.D. proof is required to both sign up and to at time of purchase.

I'm just gonna post it. This is a letter I wrote and hand deliverd to Ed at DSF.

Yeah but here's the thing. I went to the Kevin PTD release. I still saw MANY of the regular faces in the line. I think the "bribing" tourists problem is VERY microscopic.

My personal belief is an auditable online random selection process is the best option.

Couldn't they just base it off the wristband system currently in place at DLR? That seems to work fine....

People have warned and cautioned Ed that if he does online wristbands with email addres only as the requirement they would sign up 500 fake emails. Then if they don't get picked, but their fake email does get picked, they know how many spots are available for second chance. I suppose if you were forced to enter your name, like DLR, it would be somewhat ok. But then you just sign up everyone you know and if they get picked, you tell them to go. This way, people have to show commitment to come. Also, if the people don't show, they get black listed for a year. I don't think DSF is going to get into the business of watching ISP's etc.

I think one of the problems with the system currently used at DLR is that a lot of people sign up just to sign up with no intention of actually going. I would say the number of no shows is well over 50% judging by how many name go uncrossed off their list before the second chance line is let in. I would say a better system would be to make anyone randomly selected online pay first and if they don't pick up their pins on release day with ID then they pay a restocking fee. If they don't pay, another random selection is done.

I couldn't go but my buddy works in downtown so I gave him a call. He was there around 11:30am. He said by the time he had got to buy the pin, the guy in front of him had called 6 people that came and cut my buddy. All of them were local and came within 20 minutes of the call. None of them even knew what Up is or who Kevin is. One of them asked for "The fat kid." The CM was like "Who?" The guy said, "My friend told me to come here and ask for the fat kid." The CM thought they were talking about a real human person. Then the guy said something about ice cream and they figured it out. It was Kevin he wanted. His friend who called him obviously didnt' know Russell is the "the fat kid" and just told the guy to go buy one so he could sell it for $100.

Not everyone can pony up $130 2 weeks in advance not even knowing if they will get picked. Or even more money in the case of like Oz where it was tons of pins plus a surprise. My solution was the 3 strikes rule. Sign up and get picked and no show 3 times, you get 1 year suspension. Or if you no who your first two times without a reason given, delete the account.

I still think they should just do wristbands as normal, but don't announce the location of the distribution until an hour before (or less). Then do it somewhere different every time. You can't line up if you have no idea where it's going to happen.

They could distribute at DTD, WDI, a Disney store (if any still exist), even at the DSF occasionally... That way it won't just favor people close to one location every time, and no one can line up since the distribution may happen on the other side of LA... There'd be a little more setup/driving for the employee(s) that have to do the handing out, but it has to be better than what's happening now...

Limit to only 1 per style per person.

I agree, but DSF doesn't want 300 people. If they said first come first serve there would be over 300 people waiting tonight. DSF doesn't have room for that many. If they said 8am limit 1, they'd still have a ton of people all at once. I think online, random, staggered arrival times, and a selected 2nd chance line with a FB post about the number remaing is pretty flawless.

I meant that they pay after they've been selected. Like the RSP for WDW events.

Dsf should try a few different methods and see how it goes! At this point ANYTHING would be better than what is happening right now!

One per person DOES NOT solve any problems, it will only make the current problems/complaints worse. All that causes is more bundled up people in the same space now and it will make it harder for people to trade. In turn, because there's less available for trade/sale all the people who actually own them will either trade much HARDER for them or INFLATE the prices.

If you announce wristbands at a random time then the people who "camp" have to waste a crap ton of time compared to the person who just shows up. It will give them a slight advantage but not really. I mean personally it doesn't even have to be a wristband. It could just be a ticket. One release offer wristbands/tickets on a Monday, then next time do it on a Thursday. It would be a completely random process already. The 2013 surprise Jessica calendars is a great example of this. Everytime I hear they are released I go and I NEVER EVER SEE A LINE FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!!

oh dont be such a kill joy! come on that was funny. hey i have an even crazier idea....How bout gop back to selling pins on line. Good pins, LE pins..and then people wont be going nuts for DSF pins....it wasnt too long ago that nice LE pins sat on racks at the soda fountain....becuase all of us had many outlets to purchase pins....HOW BOUT THAT FOOD FOR THOUGHT?

I have absolutely no idea what you're implying. The ONE set per person was not my idea.

Hmm..I THINK, threads like this is unnecessary. Who cares what process you think or I think will work for future releases? DSF will do what they feel is best. Will all of us traders agree with it? NO, but thats whats gonna have to happen. Obviously, even Marks letter has fallen on deaf ears. Maybe u should apply for a career there and voice your opinion.

We can sit and type here ALLL DAY long about lotteries, or random announcments, different wristband distribution locations..and it will all be for not. So lets give it a rest, it'll be easier on your fingers.

Amen!

They should just do away with pins all together. This craziness every week or so is getting really old.

I think they should just release pins whenever they feel like it and not announce anything. If someone happens to be there and sees what's offered, they can post and people can travel up there. It's just getting a little crazy.

I'd be happy with NO more LE300s and minimum of 500s. Pins are not meant for resale; Disney expressly states this in many places, therefore the pins' cash value should be irrelevant and the only people who would care would be those who intently buy only to resell. It's the collectors and traders that get screwed.

Amen! I wouldn't care if every single pin was a OE. I only collect what I like. Not for what they're worth!
