How to know if an eBay seller sells authentic Disney pins
This brings up a question I have:

I recently made a total rookie mistake and bid on an item that was at .01 with 49.99 shipping!
I contacted the seller asking if this was a typo.
No response, so I contacted them again saying I wasn't willing to pay that for shipping.
They sent me an email back saying that they could cancel my bid, but that other people were selling it for 60.00.
The last one sold was a total of 40.

They haven't cancelled my bid, even though they offered to & I told them that that was what I wanted.
So I emailed them again asking them to, and they said they only would if I left positive feedback first.

Which really makes me angry because they don't deserve the feedback at all! They are trying to rip people off & avoid ebay fees.

Ebay has rules against these insane shipping fees, but when I reported the item nothing was done about it.

Any advice?
 
Kinda off topic, but I've also been scammed on Ebay when I was a newbie by someone claiming they never got the package (it wasn't a pin, but I did lose out on 100). Learned my lesson: if you're selling ALWAYS have delivery confirmation. Ebay always tends to side with the buyers even if they really don't have proof they never got it.
 

Was it the Jumbo pin with Alice and Cheshire cat that spins from visible to invisible?? Cuz I did the same thing! I contacted the seller and he said he would cancel my bid, but then luckily someone outbid me and I was ok. Close call though.

I almost did the same exact thing you guys did! Luckily I saw it on my phone which lists the starting price and then the shipping side by side.
 

Is the action over yet? If it isn't over, you can retract your bid. Just site entered wrong amount.

If the auction is over, did you pay for the item? If so, did you receive it? If you haven't paid for it and the seller won't cancel the transaction then you should contact ebay and explain the situation to them. They will NOT be happy about it because the seller is breaking ebay rules. They are putting all of the cost in the shipping so that they can avoid the ebay fees. Report them, definitely.

Payment status: NOWAY

But do I need to have proof lined up to show Ebay or are they gonna see that all of their listings are like that & I won't need to concern myself anymore with the matter?

Just have the item number handy when you call. Explain that you bid before you realized the crazy shipping amount. It doesn't matter if their other auctions are like that or not. They did it on one, that's enough to make it not right.

Edit: Also, whatever you do, DO NOT leave them positive feedback. If you do, it might look like you got the item but never paid or something. And make sure that you do all of your communication through ebay's messaging, not outside. That way ebay can see what is going on.

How did it go for you? I had a similar situation last year. There was a guy with a lot of mid-range pins at very good prices. I bid on several and ended up winning like 17. Even though the seller promised a discount for multiple purchases, he still wanted $80 for shipping. We went back and forth for awhile with him refusing to take anything off the shipping cost. Eventually, he filed a non-payment claim on me. I spoke to Ebay customer service and they put me in touch with someone who got all the non-payment complaints dismissed. The seller was also supposed to get a mark on his record for excessive shipping. One of the mistakes he made was that he admitted in one of his messages to me that he was using shipping charges to make up for his low prices.

PayPal used to not accept delivery confirmation as proof of shipping. They needed at least signature confirmation. Has anything changed?

You only have to have signature confirmation if the sale is over $250, otherwise DC is acceptable to Ebay and Paypal.
