Ugh. Some people are just SO ignorant! Anyone ever have someone STEAL your pictures off your listing trying to pass them off as their own? Just happened to me, and the other seller was a complete A$$ about it. What a jerk.

Back when i used to collect basketball shoes, most of the sellers would print out a page with their username or write their username on a little piece of paper and put that in front of the shoes. Not so much that they would cover critical areas of the shoe, but just enough that someone could not edit/photoshop out their name and claim the picture as their own.

I've been burned by this before, too. I watermark EVERYTHING, even with just my username. You can do this on Imgur, OR when you take a picture of your item to be listed, write your username and date on a post it or something, and stick it right next to your item in the picture.

But yeah, watermarks for sure. I do it on almost every picture of my items or my art that I post online. (like my shadowboxes, my pins I received in the mail, etc.)

Sorry you're going through this, it's definitely a bummer.

i saw one of my Lilo and the Beast pin, i took a photo and put it on a website, it got really popular, which i was happy with then one day it popped up on Ebay?! how do i know its mine, well for one i can see my thumb, couch and breakfast bowl in the image. sigh. it sucks. its not hard these days to upload images

BIG HUGS

My mom had someone steal her photo and when she reported it to eBay they removed the other person's listing. It's pretty rude for people to just do that without even asking you or giving you proper credit. But I guess that would be expecting too much

They told me if I showed them the policy they would remove them, he told me to "take a chill pill" and "remove the stick from my ***."

I told them that I didn't have time to educate him on selling practices and I would just let eBay handle it. The pics are now gone. Jerk face.

If the quotes are what was actually written to you via messages through ebay, call ebay and report them for their profanity too!

I haven't had this happened to me but it has happened to my friend. She's even had it where people will send her a fake pay pal notice so she thought she received her money sent out the item and never actually got the money. She stopped selling on e bay because people would set up fake pay pal accounts fake e bay accounts and after she got burned twice she stopped entirely. She lost out on hundreds of dollars. But yeah definitely water mark your pictures all over.

If I see an auction on eBay using a copied pic from either another member, pinpics, or a Disney stock photo, I will pass it by. If the seller feels their auction doesn't deserve an actual pic of the item, then they don't deserve my business (I will make exceptions for multiples available if it is still their original photo along with knowing they are on the good list and/or I have done a test purchase). I have more respect for a seller that actually puts up a real pic of a scrapper pin they are selling than one that uses recycled pictures .

Wow I can't believe they told you that. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that person. They are the one that seems to need to take a "chill pill". I mean what they told you was uncalled for. They could have handled that better from their part. I hope you don't have to deal with any more people like that.

Be careful of people still stealing your photos even if they are watermarked. It happens to me constantly!! It really is the worst. Lately I haven't even been posting my photos because I'm so irritated. It happens to me with dolls most of the time

If you can Watermark any of your images. If your image pops up on ebay with your watermark, you have proof it is stolen. You can then send a cease and desist immediately as that is copyright infringement. Your photos are your intellectual property. Whether taken with your phone or a high end camera.

Glad they were at least taken down. And you should report their profanity to ebay as well.

something else... in the sellers rules for Ewbay, technically the photo is supposed to be of the actual item being auctioned.

People are still getting away with stolen photo's and stock photo's but you are seeing that less and less with pin sellers. A "stock" photo or artist rendering is being flagged by the potential pin buyer for possible counterfeit or scrapper concerns.

As we can see in past posts, Ebay is terrible when it comes to reprimanding the seller. Half of the images on Ebay aren't of the actual pin but from the Pinpics one. I find it kind of nice that everyone is using the Pinpics photo for the Rapunzel PTD because I photoshopped it lol so I see it everywhere haha But if it is a photo of my actual pin I can see it getting kind of irritating. Personally, if someone did that to me, I wouldn't take too much offense since it must mean my photo was very nice and we all know Ebay won't do squat about it, why should I get mad over Ebay and the seller's incompetence.

There are a few people here on the forum that take the pictures off Ebay and post them here. Most are scenes that they want of the PODM's. I have personally seen my friends picture of The Little Mermaid PODM with their thumb on it and it is in someones most wanted PODM. I've never called them out on it but it is very rude and is being used without the other parties consent. Ebay was very quick a few years ago to remove pictures that people copied from your listings. If you contact them now by phone it works a little better but they still really do not care because at the end of the day Ebay will still make money.
