At first, I was happy with almost any pin (including Hidden Mickeys) as long as they were cute. I think I must have been inundated with Hidden Mickeys to the point where there are now VERY few Hidden Mickeys I still like. Instead I love my LE pins and a lot of rack pins. Does this happen to everyone?

Le's and rack pins tend to have much nicer designs then hidden mickeys in my opinion, so I would say yes

LOL...what's wrong with me...out of that list, I really only like some of the marquees (don't collect them yet), some of the beloved tales, a few of the PODMs, and some of the Designer princesses...I don't like Tangled at ALL.

LOL. My dad calls me a Pin Snob, but not for the same reasons. He actually calls me that whenever I turn down a trade request.

LOL we became Pin Snobs at our very first Pin Trading event over at "MY D PINS" 2 years ago . We walked in with our folder of HM's thinking "Oh snap, were about to make some trades!!" but unfortunately we were shunned because not many of the experienced traders were willing to trade their LE's for our HM's! (totally understandable now!) ! lol!

After that we decided to collect mostly LE's and High End things to get the pins we wanted lol. Man, I miss the good ol' days of walking around DLR with my HM lanyard and just trading with CM's! haha

*note to self* - GO to DLR with HM lanyard ASAP

We have been trading for about five years now and I still love to trade for HMs with the CMs. The problem has become that now there are so many scrappers on the CM lanyards you can't be sure to get good pins even there. We were at WDW in early Feb and a castmember told me he had just refreshed his lanyard. I traded two pins and one was either a very bad HM or a scrapper.

However, if you go to a trading event there is no one and I mean no one that is trading Hidden Mickeys. Not even the old ones we want to complete the old sets. I would love to be able to finish out the old sets of the cast lanyard series.

So, if you want to trade you have to step up your game or leave the game. You don't really have a choice.

I miss the joy that came from trading pins with a child at the park or helping someone complete a set of hidden mickey pins. I really wish Disney would or could do something about the flow of fake pins.

Sorry about the rant.
I really do love to pin trade.

The last PTN I went to, everyone had HMs. That's how I finished all my sets :suspect:

I'm a fan of Hidden Mickey pins as long as they're done well. Last year had some great sets (construction wall, villains caskets, Alice) but this year, in my opinion, they're pretty ugly. Sometimes I'll go after them and sometimes I'll just ignore them. They need to stand out to me. I wouldn't say you're a pin snob. As Psycho Pixie said, "As your knowledge expands, the types of pins you collect changes." In all honestly, I'm not a fan of POMH AT ALL, nor do I collect the marquees, Beloved Tales (I do have a few, but I'm not dying to get more), not a single Tangled pin in my collection, and I could care less about the Designer Princess pins. The popularity of pins come and go in waves, so it will be interesting to see what the next pin trend will be.

(by the way, its all about Haunted Mansion pins.)
