So, I was trying to get a good picture of my PODM cel. I put it on a flashlight, for WAY too long, trying to get a good picture. I am soooooooo stupid! My cel basically melted has all these bubbles in it and probably isn't worth ANYTHING :( I'm so sad:(

I do have an extra one, and I'm not too mad about the pin being ruined, but because I couldn't go to the release I made my friend go for me. I feel so bad because I feel like i wasted her time.

Ouch ... That's awful ... I tell traders all the time how fragile these pins can be... Traders leave them in the sun on trading tables (very bad for them, fade quickly) ... Also heard of light displays left on with too much heat causing damage... Sorry to hear of your loss...

:( the only good news is that it isnt AS noticeable when held up to light- so it looks like I'll be getting a shadowbox.
(Sorry for the freakin huge picture)

Sorry to hear that Zoe. Try this next time.

Place it facing a light source bright enough to illuminate it, but far enough away that it will not absorb the heat. set your camera on MACRO and give it a go. A mini-mag does not give off as much heat as a regular mag, or light bulb. Also, compact fluorescent bulbs do not give off a lot of heat.

And if you think that is bad, try putting a production cel in a frame without using UV glass near a window. My uncle lost a couple cool cels that way. The lowest valued one, a Lady & The Tramp worth about $4k.

Wow, that must have been one very high powered, non LED, flash light.

As a film projectionist in college, I have long known that film can "melt". But that is exposed to the very bright "hot" incandescent blubs of the the 35mm film projectors. Modern safety flims are supposed to be much more tolerant. I can hardly believe that Disney would let out something that fragile.

Sympathy on the damage to the beloved pin.

WOW, guess I know now to store mine in a cool place away from the windows in my room.

Didn't even think how fragile these could be.
