Evening all you lovely DPF-ers!!

I've come to a point in my collection where a lot of my wants are higher wants and I'm having real problems obtaining them Ive tried sending out multiple pin pics trade requests, most get no response even though I state I'm open to multi trading....I've tried pm-ing members on here and a lot of the time get no reply either, I had a couple of trade requests on pin pics that have also fallen through due to the person offering the trade saying they've offered it by mistake a few days later??! I'm running out of ideas, and getting a little fed up to be honest...I know the pins I collect are amongst the most difficult to get, and I don't mind trading hard to get them but no one seems to want to part with them or even acknowledge my messages lol. My goal to try and complete my collection by the end of the year looks like it will be near impossible...(complete it with exception to the holiest of holy marquee!!!) However I do like a challenge!

Ive had a really bad day today with everything that could go wrong, going wrong! (Non pin related) and my baby has not been well for the last few days too....I guess I'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself, I just needed to vent my pin frustrations to people that understand.... thanks for reading, lots of love to you guys,I'm sure i will feel a lot more positive tomorrow....thanks for reading xxxx

I'm feeling the same and I've only just started it's also people charging amounts I can't afford. It seems to make this hobby very difficult especially for those like us who live in the UK.

Don't worry...it happens to all of us. Some months I will make a ton of trades, and some months I will have no luck.

I did notice that you only have 43 pins for trade, and many of them are open edition or do not have very good trade/want ratios...whereas most of the pins you are looking for are super-hard to get and are super-popular collections right now (Up and Tangled). Even though you are offering multiples, the traders that have some of those hard-to-find pins are probably only looking for equally hard-to-find pins in return, and most likely their grail-level pins.

My advice is to equip yourself with harder traders or resort to buying your wants...which is not as fun obviously but from my experience is much easier and more effective.

And don't give up...you never know when a great trade will come along.

Oh, the joys and struggles of collecting UP...

As a fellow UP collector, I can relate to what you're going through. I know what it feels like to be turned down or completely ignored when I propose a trade offer. I started collecting back in 2011 and when I started I had no good pins for trade. When I found out about UP pins, I told myself I wanted them all! Little did I know how hard so many of them would be, particularly the original DSF set and the Disney Shopping LE 100s and 125s. To be honest, I thought I would never get them. I tried using pinpics requests... no luck. Ebay... no luck. Trading in the parks... still no luck. Then I found this wonderful place called Disney Pin Forum. I was quickly exposed to the unmeasurable amount of generosity present here among so many of our fellow members. With some help from other members and my luck of people selling off their collections and/or traders, I managed to get a vast majority of the harder to find UP pins. You said that you haven't had the best of luck in finding your UP grails. That doesn't mean you won't find them! Trust me, they will come. As people enter this hobby, others leave. As people start collecting UP, others give UP on UP (no pun intended ). It's all a matter of good timing and luck, something that will surely come your way one of these days- trust me. It can be hard to stick with a hard collection, but for a UK trader who doesn't live near the parks or DSF you are doing a great job! Kuddos to you for hanging in there!

Just don't give up. Make yourself willing to pay a pretty penny for a holy grail. I know that sounds crazy, but trust me. My family and friends think that I am a nut job for paying $100+ on one single pin on occasion, but I do it for a reason. UP is a very special movie to me, as I'm sure it is to you. In fact, I don't think it is dumb to pay that much for a pin. I think it is awesome. The fact that you are working so hard to complete your collection is something that you should seriously applaud yourself for. Be proud of your collection! It is growing and will continue to grow. UP pins are beautiful and I just know you will find the ones you are hunting down!!

Keep at it Charlotte! You'll have a complete UP collection that you'll be proud of one day Just takes a little patience and dedication, two things you seem to have plenty of.

hope you will receive the pin I traded to you by the weekend to cheer you up it does suck at times and I wish I could help more than I can I did see your post about vinylmations and I am 50/50 about needing them to customise lol

Believe me. I know how you feel. I have sent out numerous trade requests and everyone says no. They are nice about it but it is discouraging. I finally did a trade yesterday and I was so appreciative of the person willing to trade with me. I had someone also do a mystery trade with me to get me started. That was very sweet and fun too. I can't spend mega bucks on pins so it makes it hard for me to even be in the running for trades. I wish I had some answers for you.

Sue

I am in the same boat! :/
I only have a very limited # of traders, and nothing people want, at least not for what I want, lol! I thought I had a few decent traders, one being a signed Milan PODM and the other the Disney Store's sold out LE Villains pin, but does not seem like anyone is interested, lol! Oh well, I guess I will just keep giving it time and just enjoy all the wonderful people! It would make it SO much easier if I lived in CA!

Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement! Yeeees, it seems a lot of my most wanted are well out of my reach sadly, for now anyway! I kind of expected I'd hit this point in my collection at some point, it's getting me pretty down lol I'm trying to get better traders but its sooo difficult living in the middle of nowhere lol!!! I rely on online only! I have read the exciting news that we have a tangled pin coming out in may and a le150 Tarzan pin in 2 weeks so maybe they will give me some trading leverage if I can get those.......I can only hope!

I wish you the best of luck!!! I hope you get those, they should help! I live in the middle of no where as well and also don't have money, so I completely relate! I have to rely on the internet (eBay, DPF and the RARE occasion DisneyStore.com does a decent release) which is extremely difficult with the prices people want who can get them firsthand! Don't let it get you too down tho, this hobby is about the fun...it shouldn't cause us stress, lol!

I hit a pin trading brick wall recently too. My story is two-fold though;
Firstly we all turn to our pins for a little cheering up, don't we? Nothing like the glee of coming in from work & seeing an LBE waiting. But recently I went through a difficult break up & not even the pins (or retail therapy to get pins) has helped & that makes me sadder that my pin joy has been diminished.
Secondly my main collection is Chip n Dale which people say there are too many of. I'd like to know where...because nobody hardly has any for trade and I don't want to keep having to buy them all the time.
I don't like brick walls, they suck, but patience is a virtue as that helpful post on here says.

The best advice I can give is to find other characters or categories you can enjoy collecting that are affordable and attainable for you. I have a ton of different collections I am always working on. I can almost always find a good trade or deal some where. I have pins I have been trying to get my hands on for over ten years. Prices and popularity fluctuate. A lot of these pins that are so scarce now will be easy to get in the future. Mark my word. Anybody who only collects Beloved Tales, Marquees, Rapunzle, Brave, or Up right now is in for some frustration. Pick a favorite ride, or theme, and work within your resources, and wait fir the occasional deal or situation to arise on the others.

Are you on Facebook? I am a member of a uk pin for sale/trade group and there's always loads of chip n dale on there, could add you if ur not a member already it's uk only so postage etc is cheap too. Xx

Awww, don't feel too badly. There are lots of us who don't live anywhere near a park who have similar issues! I totally empathize with you! If it were for DPF, my collection would be totally stagnant!

I don't have super awesome traders, either... where would I get them????? :dunno::dunno::dunno: So, I just have to be patient. I still have several of the Disney Dream Collection pins I need, but I don't even have them listed in my signature since the chance of getting them is so remote. Then again... if that were the case, I should remove Minnie as Alice.... no. Nope. SO not gonna happen!!! :anxious: I just have to have faith that someday, somehow, things happen and my chance for these pins will come! As a matter of fact, I'm going to be taking one off of my signature really soon... just as soon as it arrives! Then we can all do the happy grail dance! :hsd::wiggle::hsd:

Keep your chin up... before you know it, things will turn around! :wavey:

I totally understand! The pins I want are limited/expensive (Club 33) or a bit older (some of the Boos) or whatever. And my traders are older, so they're less in demand. I'm getting the newer Boo pins, and whatever else I can afford. But I've been getting very few pins this year, other than the DSF Boo and DS set.

The pins below are less than half of the ones I'm looking for. **sigh**

I think we can all empathize. It is hard for me to be patient when I want something, but I think pin trading has taught me that sometimes you just have to wait for things. Just remember it's supposed to be fun!

I feel the same way with my tangled collection. I haven't added an older pin to my collection in forever it's like everyone who has them for trade is conspiring against me. Lol! Ok not really but I've found them impossible to get!!

Haha, yes, I guess patience is the key, it;s just I know the longer I wait to get these pins, the harder it will be as they will find homes in "permanent" collections lol....especially the LE100s!!!! Will try and stay positive!

Hang, in there Charlotte. Up! is like one of the hardest things to collect! and one of the most expensive. and most Up! collectors don't want to trade from their own collection....just keep smiling.

Hi,
I know what you mean I have had no luck with trades at all in the last few weeks your from UK to?
I really think postage is putting people off when they see your from UK ,I understand its expensive , but it kinda sucks for us anyhow you just gotta keep trying lol

Are you on Facebook? I am a member of a uk pin for sale/trade group and there's always loads of chip n dale on there, could add you if ur not a member already it's uk only so postage etc is cheap too. Xx

Yep, I'm in the same group as you Charlotte. All in all I think I'm in about 10 different pin trading groups on FB. I also just happen to be the world's most impatient person lol... I just bought 3 Chip n Dale pins on one of the groups actually
