Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
One Hundred and One Dalmatians is the expected release for Spring 2015 and then Aladdin for Fall 2015.

So we may possibly get a Cruella De Vil LE doll early next year.

so excited for Pinnochio! Hope there's a 17" limited edition Pinocchio replica puppet. He would be so awesome! :D
And I HOPE that the make a limited edition 17" Jafar doll! He would look so amazing! :o
 
That is a good point a Pinocchio replica would be amazing and would be a good opportunity for Disney. Let's just hope we don't have another Peter Pan (where a diamond edition came out but no doll was released).
 
Possible future releases:
Sleeping Beauty: aurora, Phillip, maleficent.
101 Dalmatians: cruella de vil
Aladdin: Aladdin, jasmine, jafar, and genie.
Pinocchio: blue fairy.

It all depends on how well these dolls do. If they sell out fast, Disney will try to make as many as they can. I think. Lol

I hope they do a Pinocchio instead of the blue fairy, like a life like replica, sort of like they did with China Doll. So it wouldn't be a part of the Heirloom collection but still that would be pretty amazing and I believe much more welcomed than the blue fairy as she wasn't even considered a main character of the movie, all the LE dolls released so far were of main or secondary characters. The Blue Fairy was not even a secondary character in the movie so I would be disappointed if it was a blue fairy as opposed to a LE Pinocchio. But yeah that is just my opinion.

Also next year is Pocahontas' 10th anniversary so that would be a great opportunity for Disney to release a LE doll of her.

Actually, I'm
Like 110% sure that well get a life sized Pinocchio like the movie. Disney would be stupid not to release him.
And I'm also looking forward for the snow globe cause I doubt they can beat the monstro one.

Well that is what we thought as well about the Peter Pan bluray release (missed opportunity for Wendy) and well the Jungle Book did not even get a LE item other than the pins, in fact I don't even think Peter Pan got any LE items at all. Not even a pin set. So there is always the chance that we will not be getting a LE item.
 
When it comes to LE dolls now, I have no idea what to expect. I was SURE that we would get a 17 inch Ariel in her pink dress . . . (well, really hoping and still disappointed about that) but we didn't. She is such a popular princess. Frozen was a brand new Disney movie and they got 2 different dresses for both girls! Anyways, I don't care what color Aurora's dress is, just as long as she doesn't have the weird triangle design on her bodice and she doesn't look like the "updated" Aurora. Classy and elegant would be nice :) Since she is going to cost more, I hope they put a little more thought into the fabric they use (maybe a two tone color that changes?) because then they could please those who want blue and those who want pink :)
 
I was wondering, when it is closer to the preorder date we'll get pics of Aurora, right? But if Maleficent is the villain release without preorder, we won't get pics until she goes on sale?

I definitely base my purchases on the fact if I like the look or not so I thought if there's no photos of Maleficent before then one has to make the decision quickly on the spot before she is sold out haha! (I don't really collect the dolls in a way that I want them all)

And now I'm super excited for Aladdin LE dolls! I was excited about Jasmine before but now I'm really excited about possible Aladdin even more than Jasmine! It was one of my top favorite movies as a kid with Lion king! Also I was just "dreaming" about 17" LE Cruella, she's my favorite villain, I still need to get the designer one one day! I really hope we get her in the spring!!

Again not necessarily, I would say that based on a pattern from the past few years they like to create dolls based on characters they believe will sell well. It is just a coincidence that a lately most of these tend to be princesses. But they did create LE dolls for China Doll and Sgt Calhoun. The second half of last year was all princesses with Ariel, Anna and Elsa hence why all the dolls were part of the heirloom collection. However prior to that we had China Doll and Sgt Calhoun.

I would be more inclined to think that after the Sleeping Beauty LE dolls we should see a LE doll relating to Big Hero 6 (every Walt Disney Animation Studios movie has received a LE doll with the exception of Winnie the Pooh in 2011), 2009 we had Tiana, 2010 Rapunzel, 2012 Sgt Calhoun and 2013 Frozen sisters therefore we should see a LE doll based on the upcoming movie Big Hero 6.

Also every year we have had a release earlier in the year but these releases tend to be a little more sporadic as they can come from different sources 2010 we had Tiana based on the blu ray release, 2011 Rapunzel based on the bluray release, 2012 wedding Rapunzel release of Ever After, 2013 China Doll release of Oz in cinemas and 2014 the Frozen sisters for the bluray release. So going by that the three options would be

1) a release based on the Big Hero 6 bluray release which I find unlikely as they would probably release the doll in November instead (also I find this movie less likely to have two LE dolls, similar to Wreck it Ralph).

2) a release based on the diamond edition bluray that will be coming out in spring, in this case Hundred and One Dalmatians, this I find the most likely and that they could possibly release a LE doll based on Cruella.

3) a release based on the live action movie being released around this time, Cinderella which again I find unlikely due to the fact that Disney has never released a LE doll based on a live action film. That and Cinderella has already had 2 LE dolls released based on her movie already.

What I find even more interesting is that in 2016 we won't be getting a Dec released Walt Disney Animation Studios movie as it doesn't come out until March the following year (2017). Also there is no diamond edition bluray benchmarked to be released this year. Instead we are getting two Pixar movies in that year (the Good Dinosaur and Inside Out). So it makes me wonder if Disney will stop doing LE dolls after next year or if they will use this opportunity to release other princess dolls that they omitted in the past, such as Mulan and Pocahontas.

You will get pictures of Aurora prior to her preorder release, I would say end of July early August.

You will then get pictures of Maleficent prior to her being released on Oct 7 probably late Sep.

Both dolls should be announced on the Disney Store blog beforehand, so you will get to see them prior to their release.

Don't forget Disney has announced all their heirloom doll releases going all the way back to Wedding Rapunzel so it is likely that they will keep doing so. I think the last Heirloom doll to be released as a "surprise" was Alice and the Queen of Hearts.

Going by that theory we should have definitely had a Mulan LE doll instead of say Cinderella who had to get her mice friends to help her, or China doll who was more of a brat throughout the movie than a strong female role. Also there was a Prince Eric doll released too. If you read my post above you will see a detailed review of past releases and any potential "patterns"

A Cruella would be amazing and I can't see them missing an opportunity like that although you never know with Disney. A life size Pinocchio would be a better idea than the blue fairy, don't see a blue fairy being popular unless it's super limited. It's quite hard to guess who they will do because I wouldn't have thought they would do Calhoun and China doll but they did and I would have thought they would have done Mulan, Pocahontas, Peter Pan etc but they didn't.

Don't forget The sgt Calhoun doll and Anna and Elsa dolls came out before their respective movies came out, so I think disney does gamble on the popularity of the dolls. This is also why the Elsa snow queen doll is now worth a fortune.

For the big Hero 6 doll I think they will do Honey Lemon because for starters she is a girl (Disney tends to favour doing female characters over male ones) and because she is around the same age as the other princesses. I think the other female character gogo is too young? Sort of like Vanellope, also I think she uses a big robot so that wouldn't really work, as that would turn into a action figure lol. But who knows we could potentially get both characters in doll form.
 
All will depend on the audience reaction to the teaser in front of maleficent.

I personally can see them doing both. And here's why... These are comic book characters that will not only attract us, but also comic book fans. Like the MLP crowd. There's potential here. More collectors like comic book characters than Disney princesses.
 
I would Love to see Cruella and Blue Fairy 17" dolls - but it does seem this is closer to being the Princess/Villains line - until Eric was released, and Calhoun from Wreck It Ralph. I do wonder if they will ever backtrack and make Evil Queen, maybe after they see how Maleficent sells.
 
I just really want the Maleficent doll(animated or Angelina don't care) can't wait to see pictures of that. In the Future a Mulan doll would be nice but unlikely and I would love a Jafar doll. On another note I wish they would release some more Lion King Merchandise Would love a LE Simba/Mufasa/Scar statue or figure a doll of them would not be possible but interesting to see.
