Glad to see some Tiana love on here I agree with the opinions that the dolls we do get this year will be fabulous. I can't wait to see the LE Frozen dolls - I can only imagine the kind of detail they can do with those.
 
I was on Wikipedia and they said that Elsa and Ana were possibly the first Disney characters to be related who were hero and villain but I was thinking about Eva and Theodora. Theodora wasn't bad, just heartbroken and habilitated into evil. I also though about Drizella and Anastasia but I have suspicions that Tremaine pulled a Gothel and robbed the baby of the Queen who turned out to be Anastasia's mom and killed her. However, Tremaine hid her tracks VERY WELL and survived ALL those years. I op for a Cinderella 4-EVER!
 
So, apparently the first official 'Frozen' trailer will be on before Monster's University in theaters. I guess that is when we will get a closer look at the characters :hsd:

When does Oz come out on blu ray/dvd? I'm completely betting that there will be no lithos for the release, but the way people called out for a Theodora doll, I wonder if they'd make an LE doll of her. I mean, come on. The last gown she wore was gorgeous. But all the witches would make beautiful LE dolls. (The only reason I wouldn't really want a non-Theodora LE is because of the non-LE dolls I already have.)

I dunno. It's just so far away till the next "confirmed release" and it's still months till the pre-sale starts and we finally get to see what they created.

I just so wanna know what's next!

I'm really hoping for a Theodora LE doll for the release of Oz in BluRay. Someone asked directly to DisneyStore on Fb if any more Oz Limited edtion merchandise would be expected, and their reply was to stay tuned, because more Oz LE Merchandise was on its way. I'm hoping that by the time the Blu ray and dvd comes out, we find out what they were talking about. My guess is either a LE Theodora, or 3 more Film Collection dolls of the Witches in different outfits that would include Theodora, Evanora in her black dress, and Glinda in her battle outfit.

Another thing that makes me support my theory, is that DS also hinted that we were going to get lots of LE Dolls this year, and so far the only almost confirmed LE dolls would be: Ariel, Ursula, Elsa and Anna. And excuse me, but I don't consider 4 dolls a lot, not when last year they released 7 LE dolls, that sure is a lot. So my hopes are that, besides the Little Mermaid & Frozen, we can get some surprise release dolls such as Theodora from Oz and some others
 

Whilst i do agree that there has been a lacking in dolls in my opinion I think there is a bit of contradiction in your statement. If we are basing the release of LE dolls on past releases then we would know for a fact that an LE has never been released based on an actual actress due to the royalties and likeness to the actress. Besides most dolls are cartoonish looking so having one that looked "real" in my opinion would be too creepy and weird. So it is highly unlikely to be getting an LE doll based on the actresses. But that being said the evil witch (the green one) could possibly be made into an LE doll due to the fact that the character looks significantly different to the actress so could possibly pass of having a doll without being too realistic. I think it i sun,I key Disney will release more film collection dolls of the same character as that would clash with their previous release however I find this more likely than a LE based on any of the witches.

Also there has been no confirmation at all, that Ursula, Elsa and Anna will be getting a LE doll, this is all just speculation. Ursula having a strong likelihood of occurring due to the historical releases of the Villains such as Gothel and Lady Tremaine as surprise releases. Anna will also more than likely have a doll as she is bound to be a disney princess plus she is a cartoon hence Disney can go crazy with the merchandise.

Granted someone did ask the Disney Store about the Oz merch and they said there would be more, hasn't Disney always answered questions like this to keep you on your toes? Also I don't think that the person that answers those emails would know that much about the goings on of the company, especially since I find it hard to believe that the people that spend their day working on the next lot of merchandise would also be dealing with these emails. Isn't that what customer relations are for? So I think there is a possibility that whilst they do refer to future merchandise it could be very general.

Like I have mentioned in the past, the lacking of information from Disney has caused so much speculation and as a result people will generally read into to things and over think it. Who knows I could be totally wrong and Disney may surprise us with a whole bunch of Oz LE dolls but in my opinion I find it highly unlikely. Besides the movie wasn't that great, yes the characters were great and it is Disney but to be honest I spent 3/4 of the movie wondering when something exciting was going to happen, and i noticed a lot of kids were just confused about the movie but yes it was pretty and colorful but the story was sorta flat and took to long for things to happen. I definitely wouldn't call it a classic compared to its predecessor, it was just another glorified Disney movie that did well in the box office and already is signed up for a sequel, that Disney will keep making sequels to it until they overdo it ala Pirates of the Caribbean.

Also I don't recall where people got the Disney promised more dolls this year theory, of this really was a statement released by Disney or people just reading into things like slogans or themes released by the brand. But based on the fact that we are well into the year and only had one LE release that most refuse to accept as an "LE doll" (China doll) I do it see how Disney is going to have more releases than last year. I think it will be similar to last year in terms of how many will be released, and I also think it will all happen in the 2nd half of the year.


Dont get me wrong I think Alex555 Is totally entitled to their own opinion and I could be totally wrong but I just find it hard to consider something to be likely when it is based more on speculation than fact. But one thing I do agree on is that we really need more concrete info not to mention more dolls to get us out of this doll drought.

Has anyone noticed that the Animator dolls are dwindling down.....if your still contemplating, I suggest picking your doll of choice up I asked my local Disney Store and I was told that they are re-working them. Honestly, I don't know what else they could do to them??

I really hope it means a new line, I'd love to see these girls in more outfits! Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Maybe Jasmine, Mulan, and Tiana have a separate costume in the movie that they can wear. Do any of you expect to see a LE doll before Ariel?
 

Yes I'd like to see a pretty little belle doll in her ball gown! Although I can't imagine her being as cute as the doll now! They did Cinderella well though! She is adorable ! It's a shame there probably won't be a new Pocahontas since she only wears 1 outfit haha!

I would love a LE Pocahontas doll... But that's not going to happen! It might happen in 2015 though ! I'm hoping for LE frozen dolls! As frozen is going to be my new collection I've decided hehe
 
Oh Belle would look beautiful! I think that they could do wonderful things with these girls. They did make another Cinderella animator doll though, I think she turned out well I recently read that they are planning on making a "Animator" version of both Anna and Elsa. Kind of like what they did with Merida! I think that Disney can do great things with the Frozen merchandise, especially the LE dolls. I'm thinking that Aurora with be an LE in Early 2014, March maybe? Due to the release of Maleficent. I will be broke after March
 

Oh she is just the cutest!!! I always loved her pink dress when I was younger! I'd love to see Anna and elsa toddler dolls ^_^! I'm so excited for the LE frozen dolls (if they make them) they're going to be simply stunning! I love Anna and Elsas outfits! AHHHH! I'm so excited now!! I can't wait to see the trailer before Monsters U. And I can't wait to see the merchandise!!!!
 
I'm really hoping they do this with the others, because it was brilliant! To be honest, I'm more excited for Elsa, because her design is so different. I may go see Monsters U just for the trailer. I wouldn't mind if they did a two pack with the sisters, also I read this on Tumblr, you may have already seen it, but here:

I love the Frozen ideas. The Snow Queen is like an adored story for me. Like I said a while back, tame first half of the year, fun second half! LE Dolls galore will most likely be surprise LE Dolls galore LOL.
 
I think that the Aurora LE will come out around the same time as the Diamond edition release so it will be around October, equivalent to Ariel and Cinderella. Which means that her LE preorder should be coming out around the time of the Maleficent movie release (as it is currently marked for a release in early July but who knows this could be pushed back).

Because of the release of the Maleficent movie this makes me question if Disney will release a Maleficent during the movie promotion or as a surprise release as part of the Diamond edition release. Or there is also the possibility that they will release two Maleficent dolls one based on the cartoon and the other a hybrid of the movie and cartoon character like they did with the LE Queen of hearts as it is highly unlikely that they would make one with a likeness to Angelina Jolie.

It is highly likely that we will be seeing a Frozen LE doll release at the end of the year but I doubt there will be one before the release of Ariel as the only major release coming up for Disney before then is the Lone Ranger and Monsters University and I don't see a doll being made for either of the franchises. There is a slight chance that Disney could release a LE doll on the Monsters characters like they did with Buzz and Woody for Toy Story 3 and that may be the next “couple” that the cast members have been hinting on?

So the way I see it, in my opinion what I think is concrete would be the next doll to be released will be Ariel in Oct with preorders in July, followed by the next designer equivalent line to be released at the D23 Expo in August. The surprise release for the TLM line will also come out when the Diamond edition is released in October and I am hoping this will continue to be the villain release, be it Ursula or her in her Vanessa form.

As Frozen is set for a late November release I think the LE doll will be equivalent to the Calhoun that was released last year? It was around late October early November so this may come out around mid-November before the movie comes out. Just like Calhoun did.

Then I believe that when the DVD/Blu Ray comes out (probably around mid-March – early April) they will release another doll? But who knows they may release a two pack to so that they can use both Elsa and Anna as I believe most people would love a doll of both characters.

In 2014 what is interesting is that the line of movies expected to come out of the Disney franchise has a similar pattern to the releases this year. You have the Muppets coming out around March (the equivalent of Oz this year) so we may see a Muppet LE? But then again you have Maleficent coming in July (the equivalent of the Lone Ranger this year) so they may just release a doll for Maleficent and none for the Muppet movie (so the reverse of this year where a doll was released for Oz but not for the Lone Ranger).

Then later in the year you will have the Sleeping Beauty Diamond edition release in Oct so that is when Aurora will come out as an LE with the possible surprise release of Maleficent (if she was not already released as part of the Maleficent movie).

What I find really interesting is the first Marvel/Disney movie Big Hero 6 set to be released in Nov 2014 (this will be your Wreck it Ralph/Frozen equivalent for 2014). If they follow the same pattern then they are bound to release a doll based on one of the characters. If they do I hope it will be based on Honey Lemon (I know the name sounds silly but the character would look amazing as an LE doll).

This is based on my speculation and my analysis of the historical releases in comparison to the future releases and trying to determine a pattern, but as most people have mentioned on here, Disney does seem to mix it up a bit based on the reaction of the public to the releases so it could change drastically.

But I have no doubt in my mind that we will definitely be getting an Ariel, Ursula and Frozen (not sure which character but most likely Anna) this year followed by another Frozen release early next year and an Aurora and Maleficent in 2014.

Then hopefully in 2015 onwards Disney will release dolls of those that they missed such as Pocahontas and Mulan as I cannot see how you could miss these two epic characters.

That's actually something that I am hoping for next year. An LE 17" Maleficent has been one of my grails since I saw the beautifully done Mother Gothel. I really truly hope that they make an LE surprise release next year.

As for the Maleficent movie with Angelina, I'm fine with her just being an addition to the DMC. I imagine her being really visually stunning...and potentially the only doll I'd want from the movie, unless it's phenomenal. If they do make a cartoon/Angelina Maleficent hybrid doll...I think I'll cry doll collector tears of sorrow.

I do so hope that there will be a surprise LE Ursula doll. She's what I'd prefer. However, I am actually believing that there won't be an *Ursula* doll. I don't think they'd spend the money to make a new mold for a doll that they'd only use once. They didn't for the LE 17" Queen of Hearts or the 2 designer dolls. So, as much as I'd prefer her to be an LE Ursula, I'm betting she'll be an LE Vanessa. (And because so few people know who Vanessa is...or even her name, I wouldn't be surprised if she was another LE 500 or some still low number.) I just really hope they play up that "mesmerizing sea mist aura" she had when we first saw her. I really really REALLY hope that she's not in the wedding dress. (PLEASE DEAR DOLL MAKERS! NOT THE WEDDING DRESS!) And, even though it'd be a Vanessa doll, I think it'd be cool if they made some prop "mirror" that showed Ursula in the reflection.

I also can't wait to see or know how they are going to portray Elsa. I know she is the Snow Queen and all, but I have heard people refer to her as a "sister princess" to Anna, not just the queen. It really sounds like they are going to market Anna and Elsa very much so, but it could be something VERY new if this movie gives us 2 new princesses and the princess line up gets its first villain princess. (I'm convinced that a villain princess would become my absolute favorite instantly.) All I know is, all the Elsa art is looking BEAUTIFUL.

My collection...oh it's gonna grow beautifully.
 
As of now, I'm loving the look of Elsa, Anna has to grow on me. I just don't feel anything special from her yet. However, that could all change one more info is released.
 
I wouldn't care for a reworking of the Animators dolls (even though I have two of every one and even caved and bought the Cinderella accessory pack). I'd much rather they added new characters, not just Anna and Elsa (but YAYYYY to them!) but other characters and especially boys.

However, since this isn't a DAC thread, I'll also add that I hope for LE 17" Anna and Elsa dolls. I really doubt Ursula will pop up considering all the dolls have the same body and Disney probably learned their lesson about making her thin after the designer release.

I'd reallllly like to see more 17" villains.

Hahaha I am one of those that doesn't open the boxes, but I just look up pictures of their shoes on the internet, and I totally agree, Tiana's are gorgeous!!!!
 
I'm more excited about next year's potential Sleeping Beauty doll releases than the Little Mermaid (duh), but I won't lie- I would LOVE a well done Vanessa doll. That whole concept is just super duper cool to me. It's probably a stretch, but if they did do a villain surprise release with Ariel, then I would bet more on a Vanessa than a full-figured Ursula. Like others have said, it would be way easier (and more attractive) to package and sell a pretty doll (with a devious soul) in a dress than a sea-witchtopus, even though that would be awesome.

Maleficent! ahhh I'm stoked at the idea of a 17" Maleficent but I'm scared of what they might do to her. I think that she's a wickedly elegant and beautiful villain, so I would rather see those features portrayed accurately. I loved the head mold of both Gothel and Tremaine 17; Gothel looks perfect because she's supposed to look "young," but I admit Tremaine looks a little off with her more youthful looking body. I was not impressed with Maleficent's designer dress or head sculpt- it looked too wide in my opinion. This is the face I want on my 17:

Cool, confident and about to topple some kingdoms. Closed mouth smile with red lips, not like the Designer doll. Long, slender lines on the body sculpt. Staff is a necessary prop. Diablo = bonus points. Just my opinion
