A Jafar doll would be amazing! Do you think because of the Aladdin and Jasmine couples doll this year that they may skip Jasmine next year? I hope if they do Jasmine she's not in blue! Would anyone else prefer her in the red outfit?. Jasmine would make a pretty limited edition doll with all her jewels:)
I really hope they don't do a cross between live action and the cartoon for Maleficent. And I want a blue Aurora to go next to the pink designer doll or if she is in pink then give us a blue Aurora and Phillip couple set next year hehe.
 
I don't think they would not make a LE Jasmine doll next year just because of this year's Designer Jasmine and Aladdin set especially since the LE Ariel and Eric dolls are going to be released about the same as the Designer Ariel and Eric set. I would love to see Jasmine in her red outfit. That outfit doesn't get nearly enough attention. They'll probably put Jasmine in her iconic green outfit though. Hopefully if they do put her in her iconic outfit they will make it the correct shade of green and it won't be so blue like the Designer Jasmine dolls' outfits.
I hope LE Aurora is in her blue dress. Despite all of the preventative measures taken, her life still lead her to prick her finger on the spinning wheel. That is her iconic scene. Therefore I think it would be most appropriate to make her LE doll in her blue dress with the glowing green spinning wheel as the background for her display box. They could then use her pink dress if they make a Designer Aurora and Phillip set. Or they might choose to go with her peasant dress for the Designer set since that was what she was wearing when she and Phillip fell in love.
 
I know they are releasing Ariel and Eric even though their is the couples but Ariel is more popular. Do they normally release these dolls in spring?My main worry is Aladdin has already been released in some countries so they might not do as much for it.Hope they do her though, can't see them missing her and her in red would look amazing with a jafar!

ooh that's an idea I'd love her in the peasant dress along side Phillip,trying not to get my hopes up for more couples next year as they might not do them.I agree she needs the blue dress for the limited edition doll. I think she will be in pink though. I love pink and love the designer doll in pink but I don't want another doll in pink, be nice to have blue for something different .
 
Tiana, Rapunzel, Mother Gothel, and Wedding Rapunzel were all released in the spring. Merida was released in early summer. This was the first year that a LE princess doll was not released in the spring since the line started. The release of a LE Jasmine doll is really up in the air because of the way the diamond edition of Aladdin has been handled. They kept pushing it back and ended up releasing it as a non-diamond edition on Blu-ray. The estimated release date for the diamond edition is currently unknown.
 
So really we have no idea when Jasmine will come out:/ once we know when Aladdin's diamond dvd is going to be released then we can guess when she should come out. It is strange that they missed the 20th anniversary. Jasmine is a popular character and Jafar and Aladdin will both make great 17" dolls so fingers crossed we will hear about them and the dvd around spring next year. When is Pocahontas's diamond edition dvd being released? Also the Genie would make a cool limited edition doll!
 
Pocahontas won't get a diamond edition. There's only certain movies that get the "big release" treatment. The movies that have a diamond edition release are Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp, Aladdin (hopefully) and Cinderella. Disney plans on having them all released by 2016

Pocahontas was released in February. It was a Pocahontas & Pocahontas II combo pack.

That's a fair point about Jasmine being a potential LE being up in the air as it really is, I just don't think she will be released in the near future. As mentioned in the timeline of dolls released in the past I noticed that the ones that are generally released in Spring/Summer coincide with movie releases (Tangled Ever After, Oz and Brave) or recent movie releases (as in the case of Rapunzel and Tiana) none have ever been based on diamond edition bluray releases (as was confirmed this year by the lack of a Peter Pan related doll). That being said disney likes to keep us on your toes with sporadic and surprise releases so your guess is as good as line as to when we will be seeing a jasmine. I just hope disney will complete the LE princess and villains set for those they missed so Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine and the Evil Queen.

I do also like the idea of the LE male villains too as Facilier and Jafar would look amazing. With the release of Eric I do hope disney does try pursue the male doll route especially for characters that stand out enough to justify larger edition sizes.
 
I did some checking on upcoming Diamond edition releases. It looks like Disney is planning on releasing One Hundred and One Dalmations in February 2015, Aladdin in October 2015, and Pinnochio in February 2016. These have not been officially confirmed by Disney, but it gives me hope. Disney can't not do a Diamond edition of Aladdin. It is one of their most successful movies. And like evlover0327 said, Disney is planning on wrapping up the Diamond edition collection by 2016. I'm hoping this means they'll release Pocahontas in October 2016. I think it would be a real shame not to do a Diamond edition for Pocahontas especially since she was an actual person. Mulan hasn't received a Diamond release either though and it would be a shame if she were left out as well.
 
I'd have thought Mulan and Pocahontas would have got diamond release over bambi and lady and the tramp,much more marketing and merchandising can be done with the princesses,shame disney didn't think same,still hope Mulan and Pocahontas get dolls. Fantasia also got a diamond release didn't it? So maybe we will get Jasmine Oct 2015. Be nice to have the evil queen as the last doll to bring it full circle.

I think the best male doll they could do for me would be Hercules! And a meg to go with him, one can dream.

I certainly hope that Jasmine gets a LE doll. The poor dear has been pushed aside so many times with the constant changes with the blu-ray release of Aladdin -- first it was on the list of Diamond Editions, then it was taken off, then it was added back in, but then the dates keep changing and many parts of the world other than the USA have already received an Aladdin blu-ray (non-Diamond Edition) release. Poor Jasmine!

So just for current speculation: if Disney does stick to this most recent Diamond Edition release schedule as we see it, the next LE dolls related to USA Diamond-Edition releases will/may include: Fall 2013: LE Ariel, LE Ursula, LE Prince Eric; Fall 2014: LE Aurora, LE Maleficent, LE Prince Philip (?); Spring 2015: LE Cruella de Vil (?!?), Fall 2015: LE Jasmine, LE Aladdin (?), LE Jafar (?); Spring 2016: LE Blue Fairy (?!?)...

The spring/February releases seem to be less likely to generate LE dolls, but who knows? It would be sad if they did not make a LE Cruella de Vil doll. Of course, anything and everything may be sprinkled in between or not made as the Disney Store sees fit. As we saw this year, them not releasing a LE doll in the spring "doll off season" is now very possible.
 
Ooh a limited edition Phillip would be amazing, but I doubt he's popular enough but fingers crossed,theirs no decent Phillip. And they must do a Cruella she would look great in the style.
 
Rawr, all this budgeting is frustrating at times! Think I should start saving for a LE 17" Wedding Ariel or do you guys think three LE dolls for the movie is where Disney will stop? Is it also a for sure thing Anna and/or Elsa are coming out Nov. 27th? I already know I'll be saving for that inevitable Maleficent for next year...
 
They usually do the "big" diamond edition in the fall. Like BatB, TLK, TLM, Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty.

Also, every film that got the Platinum edition release will get the diamond edition release because it's kind of like a series. Once they are done with the diamond edition they will re-release all those films on a new edition, although I don't know what would be higher than diamond.

Pocahontas and Mulan only get "special edition" or anniversary edition releases. Some of the movies that they've chosen for the platinum/diamond edition releases I felt like should have been replaced with Pocahontas and Mulan, because I think they are more popular than Lady and the Tramp and The Jungle Book, but I guess Disney knows what they are doing.

My eyes have probably grown 5 times their normal size and I think I may have begun drooling.
While I greatly dislike waiting, I hope those dates get set in stone and there are LE dolls to coincide with their releases.
Maleficent, Cruella, Jafar, and then the Evil Queen. I know that at this point, Maleficent is the only villain that we can hang our hopes on. I mean, come on, she is so iconic. Disney should know that the fans would bomb their pages and emails if they didn't. I am very confident that she will be "surprise" released.
You can't deny that Gothel and Tremaine's faces are fabulous and so ridiculously well done. Part of me hopes that they do Maleficent's face with the open grin that she does in the opening scene before she places the curse on Aurora...and then the other part of me hopes that it is the closed mouth smirk that you see when she is staring straight forward and fading out in to the will 'o the wisp. Basically, if they give the same cartoon-brought-to-life artistry that they have given the other villains, I will be very grateful and loving. AND! If they dare to make the Maleficent flowing robes WRONG like they did with the classic doll...that had a cape and...A PONCHO...I will cry. There is no sugar coating it. I will cry. I mean, come on...really? The Barbie costume buy on piece was way more accurate than this play one. So yeah...I hope they get it as close to correct as they can or I will be heartbroken. They can do it. They will do it. I'm gonna dream it and they are gonna do it...just gotta believe. :x:
And then, Cruella. I really doubt that they will make one since they made no one for Peter Pan. :( But oh I really hope they do...and also a Captain Hook...and Dr. Facillier...AND AN YZMA!!! Basically I hope they do decide to branch out and make 1 or 2 surprise releases of (at least) the beloved and/or mainstream villains each year.
And, I have been fantasizing over the Evil Queen doll ever since I started this collection. I hope she has the same authentic period style that the Snow White doll has, only more gothic with a cartoon accurate face. And then, I really hope she is posed like that Annie Leibovitz picture with Olivia Wilde and her "prop" is the Magic Mirror on the back of the box. But...mainly...I hope that her head and crown are to scale with the rest of her body! ;)

I'm not saying that some of these dolls will be released with diamond editions. I'm saying they may be released without them. I still think there is a high probability for Jasmine in the spring, because I literally can think of no one else that they would release. There is no way they are going to go from Frozen to Sleeping Beauty without any doll releases!
 
Spring next year will have the muppets sequel movie released and the Frozen bluray release. So I see it more likely that they would do a muppet related doll or depending on the doll release for Frozen this year (either have two during the movie release or one during the movie releae and another during the bluray release as I would be pretty confident that Disney would release a doll for both Anna and Elsa.) we could see another Frozen doll as a Spring release.


I am hoping that Aladdin's bluray release will be in 2015 as the Oct diamond edition release as this will definitely ensure that she will get an LE doll as that seems to be the only pattern that Disneystore has continued in that every Oct diamond edition release has had a doll release to coincide with it. But at the moment The Aladdin release date has not been confirmed in the US.

But this is all speculation based on historical releases by Disney which is never accurate due to Dosney changing things up all the time. Personally while the waiting is tedious and frustrating I like the fact that Disney keeps us on our toes, it just keeps the hype for the dolls alive and gives me something to look forward to.
 
Based on what it says on the stitch kingdom website I highly doubt that Aladdin will be released in October as they have said that Disney has chosen Sleeping Beauty for diamond release next year. I wonder if we will ever get to see the Evil Queen, Snow Whites Prince, and Cinderella's Prince. What with the diamond editions nearing the end of the line, when it comes time for Snow White, Cinderella, and ect to be released do you think they would release these characters at that time? Maybe along side the princesses in alternate outfits? I would love to have the queen! She would be absolutely stunning Im sure. And I'm glad that Sleeping beauty has taken a while to some out because we have the opportunity for a Maleficent and a Prince Phillip.
 
i think an Ariel wedding dress doll as a surprise doll , wouldn't be so surprising. Because Eric is in his wed uniform... and he doesn't match with Ariel in mermaid. To match that Eric you need an ariel in wedding dress.
 
I really think Vanessa is a long shot but the look on Eric's face is odd, so maybe. The Eric doll is puzzling because he is in the wedding outfit so he is not compatible with the Ariel mermaid doll, yet his face sculpt -granted we only have that blurry still from the video- does not look like what we would expect for a blissful groom. I want to see a good photo of him.
 
What about Vanessa in her wedding dress to go with wedding Eric. I highly doubt it, and I would prefer Vanessa in her seashore dress, but it would be pretty awesome.
 
I can't help but think of the scene where Ariel changes back into a mermaid and Eric's in his wedding outfit... granted, then we'd need her gorgeous blue dress for that scene, so who knows if that's what Disney was going for with the mermaid Ariel and Wedding Eric dolls.
 
I really hope they release an LE Jasmine. They always do a good job with her dolls I'm sure she'd be really pretty. I would also love the Evil Queen, Cruella and Yzma LE dolls! I will never understand why Yzma is not merchandised more. That gal was made to be merchandised! Her LE would be stunning! And Queenie and Cruella would be fabulous as well. And Jafar and Facilier would both make great dolls as well. Disney has so many possibilities! I hope they don't overlook Pocahontas and Mulan as well. Esmeralda and Megara would be cool to but let's not get too crazy.
