With the opening of the Treasures of Walt Disney Archives, there are now thirty (30) D23 pins available at the Reagan Library store. Several are from the D23 Expo last year: Walt Disney #1 cast member badge pin and the 3 hinged storybook pins – Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty. The gift pin (no patch) for attendees of the Preview Day was a Treasures logo pin with Chip and Dale and the words, D23 Preview Day. Other variations of the logo pin include: Treasures logo pin with Fab Five; Treasures logo pin with Mickey and Minnie; Treasures logo pin with Mickey and Oswald; and Treasures logo pin with the Seven Dwarfs. There are four hinged Treasures pin for Tron, Pirates, 20,000 Leagues, and Mary Poppins – these pins seem to represent the downstairs exhibit of movie props. There are also four Hall of Presidents pins. Each pin shows a painting of Washington, Franklin and Lincoln. Surprise - no Reagan pin. Other pins included the ship Nautilus pin, a patriotic Mickey pin, and a retro Mickey doll pin. I was hoping for a pin showing a photo of Walt with Ronald Reagan.

Sorry, no pictures!

Did you go to the preview last night? The exhibit opens July 6th & runs through I think April of next year. I work there with a bunch of other Disney freaks & we are so excited about this exhibit! I cant wait to see the pins, one of my co-workers that worked last night told me they had some, but didnt realize there were so many.

You don't have to be a D23 member to get in to the exhibit or to buy the pins, they are in the gift shop at the library & you don't have to pay admission to get in the gift shop. The exhibit doesnt open to the public until July 6th, but they had a D23 special event last night with a sneak preview & a dinner. It's the biggest exhibit ever outside of Disney & has a lot of items that have never been on display before & they must have a lot of stuff because they added onto the building for it. I'll get pics of what they have in the gift shop & will see if I can can sneak into the exhibit, I work in a different part of the museum taking people's pics before they board Air Force One.

Yes, I did attend the Preview last night. It was very nice and the food was very goood! The desserts were yummy. The pin purchase process is very civilized. There are no pin racks in the store! Instead there are four pin display boards around the store. Each board shows the 30 numbered pins. On the board, there is a holder with paper order slips and pens. You mark the quantity of the numbered pins that you want and bring the order slip to the checkout counter. It would be nice, if DSF, WDI, DLR, and WDW would use this system.

Negatives were that (1) they started the check in as 4:15 pm before they had cleared out that day's library visitors. The parking lot was full and so many people had to hike up the hill from Madera Road. There was a shuttle but it did not run frequently and it wasn't clearly marked that there was a shuttle. If you arrived late, you were able to get into the parking lot. ; (2) they would not let you use the restrooms until you entered the library doors; (3) the line snaked through the middle of the SUNNY courtyard, instead of using the cool, shady covered sidewalks that surrounded the courtyard (4) The Preview was open to D23 members and the Reagan Library members - so there was big crowd. LOL - the D23 members were casually dressed, while some of the Reagan Library members were better attired for a night at the country club!

Looks like the exhibit will run from July 2012 to April 2013 so there's time to plan a visit for that but I don't think the pins will last that long.

I don't think any of the pins are limited editions. The hinged book pins for Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White are not the limited edition pins released at D23 2011, though they are very reminiscent of them (never seen the D23 pins, just going off of pinpics descriptions/pictures). The Snow White one has a mirror on the inside.

There was one limited edition pin... The Walt #1 Badge was the one limited to 1955.

Edit: ... I see also that the Opening Day pin, d23 Preview day pin, and grand Opening pin are also limited per pinpics.

I'm confused: are these pins available only to D23 members? or are they available at the gift shop at the Reagan Library? Or is it that you present your D23 membership card at the gift shop in order to purchase the pins?

I've been to this library and it's a really nice place to visit but they are very strict with taking photos. Regardless of being able to purchase pins or not, I think this exhibit is going to be really fun. From watching the preview link from the previous post, the exhibit reminds the backlot tour at Universal Studios. Will be planning a trip for sure in the winter once I get more free time from work.

im confused as well, will there be any for sale tomorrow? or until the 6th?
and are they or not LE?
i want the Tron one as well

We live like 5 min away. We are debating whether to try opening day or not. From what I heard it is really cooll!

I purchased these pins today - they are available right now in the Reagan Library Gift Shop for the public. You do not need to be a D23 member to buy the pins. You do not need to purchase admittance to the exhibit to go to the gift shop. Gift shop open 10:30am to 5pm everyday except major holidays.

The exhibit is presented by D23, but that is the extent of it.

Thanks for the info Derrick B. Anybody that's planning on going to the exhibit, go early & head straight to the D23 exhibit and Air Force One because those will be busiest & they are expecting huge crowds for this. I have had to hike that hill quite a few times btowndude wearing all black & it sucks! The shuttle is real good about taking you down the hill, but not about picking you up on the way up. If anybody just wants to run in the gift shop, best times are early & after 3:30 because of parking & I would avoid going there on the 4th, they have a lot of stuff going on outside for free & it's one of the busiest days of the year there-it's crazy!
