Would it really be too horrendous to spend your whole day in Hollywood?? Am I missing something here?!

-Charlie

Unfortunately I think it's one of the worst places I've ever been  Beverly Hills/Rodeo Drive is where the 'nice' things are that are normally painted in ideal pictures of Hollywood, but Hollywood/LA itself is nasty.... bar the Soda Fountain of course! :) <3 Don't let me put you off having a great time when you do go to California, though! :) You can definitely enjoy yourself in LA if you know where to go <3

Why would they do this for Beloved Tales that aren't from popular movies?! Maybe there will be a good suprise pin...

I believe they are a customer focused group and are in the midst of tweaking some recent changes that have probably garnered some measure of praise from those vocal enough to express their opinions directly to DSF. This isn't exactly surprising to witness the evolution of crowd control for something that has clearly grown to the point of needing these various methods of both controling and making the lines as fair as possible to a majority of their customers.

Since they are still tweaking, they would obviously practice until they found a process that works best for them and for their customers. Businesses that don't change or evolve are often left by the wayside and eventually go out of business. I see DSF as giving an honest effort to listen to their customers and attempt to provide an experience that will satisfy a majority of their clients. Will they be able to make everyone happy? No. Impossible. But the goal is receive more positive feedback than negative.

As to whether or not there will be a surprise pin, I don't believe that any attempts to control the crowd or make the lines more honest indicates the release of a surprise pin.

The staggered release of wristbands will be an interesting test for the Soda Fountain and of those purchasing the pins. Fortunately they are testing this on not their most popular release this month. Let them figure out this whole even distribution of pins on their own. I'm actually excited for this staggered release and I'm very curious to see how it works out. It may not work out for everyone, but they cannot cater to each and every customer. There are many releases I'd love to go to but are unable because of the overnight stays or the ridiculous long lines. Are wristbands best or perhaps an online raffle for the pins? Give it some time to have it all figured out. As for those complaining about how dingy Hollywood is, have you never spent time waiting for a release at DSF? Overnights? A-full-day-then-overnight-then-the-next-morning's? If we really want these pins, we'll do whatever we feel is right to get them. This is the system that they have set up for the next release. Rather than complaining, how about we see how it goes? And if the release system doesn't work out for you, I'm sorry. If this method of distributing pins doesn't work out well, maybe they'll change it and make it work out for you. Just try to hang in there and sooner or later we'll all get the bits of metal and enamel into our collections.

I'm not sure if I was standing on a soapbox or not, but there's one next to me, so I'll put it away.

Come Saturday morning and Ebay listings will show who managed to get a wristband and who did not ;)

This staggered system will only benefit people who live really close, but it will make it somewhat hard on the commuters. Best of luck to those who will try to get these pins. Rest of us (including me) will have to keep fingers crossed to get a good deal on Ebay.

There's probably going to be a surprise Tangled Beloved Tales pin.

I still don't think these will be hard pins to get so most of the talk about the BT pins is much ado about nothing. However, if this is their idea for Nemo we're gonna have to coax them during the BT release to do the last time a little later. I think they are trying to avoid the big rush of people like at the Pixar event in July. The parking lot guys were pissed about all of us roaming their property. All those early times do is benefit the retired, unemployed, part-time, and college students that actually have mid-days free to run up to DSF.

Well, looks like I can kiss these ones goodbye too since I have a job & work Fridays til 4:30 & a Friday rush hour trying to get from my house to DSF will take an extra half hour at least with traffic, so I'd end up getting there around 6pm if I was lucky & I MAY get a wristband at that time, then would have to come back the next morning & gas is only $4.10 a gallon right now.

I'm with you MASTER, I remember the good old days when you could get whatever you wanted on Saturday nights after they released in the morning. We'd go down there & get pins, go to dinner, shop, & walk around Hollywood.

Or you know, Maybe people like cops, firemen, nurses, anyone else who may work nights or days other than Monday-Friday 9-5. But that wasn't convenient to your post!

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to take that. But anyways, those times are too early in the day. All 3 times are before 5pm. To at least one after. Also, what happens when only 25 people show for the first time. Do they then give out #26-#100 at the second time? #26-#76? Only #50-#100? Where do the extras go? Is it a hard stop at 10:30am? Or does it go forever until #50 shows up. Then it locks until time #2?

All I meant was you made a pretty sweeping generalization about why people may be out and about during the day!
Retired, unemployed, part-time, college students, and swing shift. Better? Let's add people that have super nice bosses to the list. Or DSF employees already going there. Or homeless people someone pays to get a wristband and hold their spot. I'm just pointing out how it seems unfair to the general working population that does work a standard 9-5 there isn't an offer for a later time. Like 7pm. For the most part, if you live in the "LA Area" and you're off at 5pm, even with traffic, you can make it to DSF in 2 hours. I'm still more interested in the Nemo release than this BT release.

Okay guys. Seriously.

If you don't get the pins on this day, yes it inconvenient to a lot of people. Yes it is bad to have to go down two days.

How about instead of fighting over each others views of how the event is gonig to run why not calm down and take it in small bites? If you can't go, see if someone can help. Look at all the people who live OUT OF STATE who will get the pins one way or another.

This is PIN TRADING not "PIN BUYING, RUSHING, AND BEING STRESSED OUT."

If you can't go Friday call before you head in and just go Saturday. If you can't get the pins, make a trade for them. The more we freak out about possible 'surprise pins', the more we freak out about rushing down a day ahead to get in line for a wristband to get in line the MORE these pin releases are going to BE LIKE THIS.

Disney's Soda Fountain cares about your safety as much as it does theirs, and because of crazy rushes, full day ahead camping out, they have to do things like this.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do these things, these pins could possibly be your grails, or any pins, but the RUSH, the HAVOC, and the FIGHTING especially the fighting really needs to stop. It's even here in the forums. That's really what anyone talks about anymore is drama this and drama that, and don't deny it as to get people to get view threads sometimes people post 'fake' drama threads!

We love pins, we like these releases but we have ruined them. Not everyone, obviously not everyone is there all the time but you get what I mean.

I'm going to the release to buy for other DPF members, at cost. So I have no vested interest monetarily in this release. I am trying my best to knock some sense into people about this BT release. There will not be that many people.
At the same time, if this is what they are thinking for Nemo then I don't think the time blocks are a good idea nor are they fair. I am also tired of DSF changing it every freaking time. It hasn't been the same, nor has it been what they said it would be, in like 2 months. Figure it out, stick to it, make it happen. Enough with the wishy-washy rules enforcement and constant changing. The back-to-school event? "We MAY give out wistbands?" Come on, say you are or you aren't. I can't blame DSF for the resellers and people that apparently have nothing else to do than camp out for 2 days, but a lot of us are frustrated with how they keep changing what is happening right before it's supposed to go down. Trial and error is a process but this is a step in the wrong direction. My opinion.

Although I really want the Nemo pins, it being a Friday release, I knew I wasnt going to get them because of work, but was planning on going down this Friday night after work to pick up a wristband & go back & pick up a Rescuers & Petes Dragon BT pin the next morning but with this new way, looks like Im out those 2 pins too. It's frustrating to me since I've been buying pins there for a few years & if I want to get any these days, I would have to miss a day or two of work which makes it cheaper for me to just buy it off someone on ebay, but thats not as fun as a trip to DSF.

So I wonder if they'll be passing out the Nemo wristbands on Thursday during the day?

I believe what romancing trains point was, is this:

a couple folks on this thread are getting mighty touching about wording. Getting offended and feeling like they are being called lazy, or unemployed or whatever because of some posts about wristband times "imply" only scalpers, unemployed or maybe even lazy people will get the bands first, leaving none for people with jobs. Romancing was simply saying to relax, no-one is pointing fingers or calling people names.

Me:: I think we all need to be calm, and trudge on here.... Its a BT release not a marquee release. And the movies are pretty basic, not crazy popular. Stop worrying. Complain about the wristband process if it doesnt work... after the event. No amount of talk about it now, on here is gonna change that. Don't like the wrist band times? call DSF, speak to a manager and suggest an alternative.

Or Cast Members who signed their life away for Friday after 6 and all day Saturday and Sunday and all the other fine print. :-)

I agree with you princess. Let's not judge or hate or make or perceive assumptions because we are all in this together and working as a team because we were born THIS way.

I just think it stinks that - I dont get off work on Fridays til 3:30pm - then it will take me an hour and a half to two hours to get up to DSF with traffic - and thats if there are no accidents. So I dont even know If I would make the last "release time." But also this means that I end up with a very high number and thus at the back of the line and have the longest wait to buy the pins. (so longest drive, longest wait, and longest drive back) I feel like this definitely favors people who live or work close to DSF - or those who have a more flexible schedule. I know that they are just trying to figure out what will work best - but i really dont think this is it.
