How does a series get marked as Verified Complete? I noticed quite a few series that are complete but not so designated. Is there a way to flag them so they can be locked?

A series should be marked Verified Complete once all the pins from that series have been added to the site. But that process is dependent on a mod noticing that a final pin has been uploaded a particular collection...which I'll be the first to admit doesn't always happen in a timely manner. Currently there's no way to flag an entire series, which would be better than flagging the individual pins within series, so that would have to go onto @Chris Nickols's long list of things to do. I'll bring this up with the other mods, because verifying series would be a good project to work.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I can see it be challenging for Mods to monitor/know when a set is completed. Getting something that end users click to let you know would probably make it a lot easier for you. If you do decide to run a project, I suggest looking at Cast Lanyard/Hidden Mickeys. You have many, many complete sets. And you can use the extremely helpful guides that Hopemax posted in this forum as your verification. I also suggest looking at Pin of the Month series as those are pretty easy - If there are twelve, you have the set (generally speaking).

I'm actually working on "Pin of the Month" guides right now. Unfortunately, they don't have nice official Disney checklists to link to like the Cast Lanyard / Hidden Mickey / Hidden Disney sets. But I do want to get them listed out by year and location.

But this points to one of my strategies on how pin databases could be attacked and reviewed for completeness and correctness. There can be a lot of fuzzy areas on how to organize to present information in a way that makes it accessible and discoverable to people who collect differently and have different levels of familiarity / knowledge. Others, like Series are more obvious, via the way Disney handles them. In general, I consider Series as having two key elements which distinguish themselves from other ways to collect. One, as Ajk's question hints at, with the exception of some multi-year, long running Series like the DSSH Marquees, PTDs, Tokyo Resort Game Prize pins, most Series can be marked Complete relatively quickly (After 25 years, a year is quick). There is a distinct end. Secondly, Series are, with a few exceptions, released on a predictable schedule. Monthly is very common, but there can be Daily, Quarterly, merchandise refreshes, etc. or "all at once." You may not be able to predict the exact date a new pin in a Series or a new Series is released but people know, generally. PTD's used to drop as soon as the previous set sold out, and now they don't, but people still know to watch for the next wave. You don't know when DSSH will have a release, but you know that when a new movie comes out at El Capitan, there will be a marquee to be on watch for. Even the park Surprise Series which were intentionally not published, people got good at predicting when there should be another one coming soon.

What I'm working on for my Guides, and basically how I attack my collection in general is road-mapping these Series out... Pin of the Month, Passholder, Surprise, GWP, PWP, CM Pin of the Month, etc. For each location. And then just start working your way through them. Basically, separate out what is clear & distinct and then hopefully when you are left with a smaller pile of fuzzy stuff, you can more easily figure out the rest. It's also possible to do a roadmap for Sets: Boosters, Frames, Mystery boxes, etc. Events: Disney Pin Celebrations, D23, all the old Park & Cruise Line events.

I know Pin & Pop has evolved a lot from where it started, and field purposes are still evolving. However, there's a lot of stuff that was assigned as a Series when the site was younger, that IMO, needs to be reviewed because there are better options now.

On another note, I am experiencing a Search / Filter issue. Before each Trade Arcade, I try to review new Hot Topic and Box Lunch pins to make sure they are listed as ISO. They come out so frequently, its hard to keep up. I usually do this by searching "LFLY" "Box Lunch" "Hot Topic" and then using the filter to narrow by theme. I knew from a pin friend there was a new set of Alice in Wonderland flowers from Hot Topic. However, when I search for "Hot Topic" and filter by "Alice in Wonderland (movie)" only one of the pins shows up in the Search results.

If I click on the Series, I can see all 6 pins and each one has Hot Topic in the Title, and Alice in Wonderland (movie) as a Tag.

If I go to the main Database list of pins, no search term but filter by 2025 and "Alice in Wonderland (movie) they all show up.

If I search "Hot Topic" and filter by 2025 they all show up.

One thing you can currently do is flag a singular pin with an other issue and write that the Series is complete so we can easily navigate to it. You don't need to flag each pin, just one will do.

Monthly series are easy because they should have 12 total so we can know for certain they're done, but other series we have to research before locking just to make sure we got everything. I've been working on the HM and CL series to format the names consistently and verify them but it's tedious work (I'm usually locking and completing each listing as I go) so I take breaks and do other things. I've been trying to make an effort to lock listings as I go though.

As far as the search and filter issue, I'd email the support email so Chris can take a look at it. That's odd.

Oh, I hadn’t thought of the flag although I’ve been using it for duplicates. I will do that going forward. I definitely see the challenge of you figuring out if a series is complete or not which is why I want it to be easy for all the rest of us to tell you. We all know the series that we collect and whether they are complete or not, so we can reliably inform you when we see all of them in the platform. Anyway, expect more tags to come your way.

Oh wow, thank you so much for putting together this list! We're all trying to be more pro-active about verifying series as they're added to the site, and your list will be a great starting point for dealing with the backlog!

I agree with Randy that you should contact Chris about that. I checked and all the pins in that series have been tagged appropriately (which is something I would include in your email), so there has to be something funky happening on the back end.
