So before I start in on my topic, I'm pretty sure I'm going to sound like a dick.

Since I'm still a newer pin collector I don't have a pin bag yet for my traders. I'm hoping to get one before June for Dayton's big event. But here's the thing: they all suck.

Seriously, ALL of them are black bags with a character. Why?! And they seem really pricey for what they are, $35+. Is this just how it is for bags?

Aside from the totally awesome Chewbacca bag! But there is no way I'm paying thatuch for a bag. I didn't pay it for my diaper bag and I use it everyday.

So is that 'just how it is' and I just need to suck it up and buy a black bag? Or does someone know a place to get more creative, custom looking bags for a decent price? Or other suggestions? If anyone has any they're looking to trade/sell, PM me, if I have to buy I'd rather it be from a forum member than the eBay.
 
A lot of people just use a regular 3 ring binder for their traders and either use baseball card sheets and put the pins in the slots (still on their card) or put a thin sheet of foam in a sheet protector (or something to that effect) and use that to stick pins on. I know it's not a bag like you're looking for but it is a very cheap alternative.
 

This is exactly what I'm doing. Plus the binder I found (at Walmart) is zippered and has a handle... For 15 bucks. I plan to decorate it with character patches.
 
So I got one of those small bags for an event, about $27 I think, and it was tiny. And difficult to work with. Granted, I didn't have many traders, so I made it happen. But a few days later I found a any Disney Store at the parks that sell pins a black binder thing with a handle that was $35 and probably held x4 as many pins. I was bummed XD

So if you want to go the official route, I'd say get the handle binder. But most people had a 3 ring binder and that worked just fine!

I have the WDW adventure trading bag, which I got on sale for $20 in 2010. Its a nice green color and doubles as a messenger bag when I'm in the parks. As for alternatives I know there are binders that actually have a shoulder strap attached and zip close, I can't remember the name of the brand though...

The latter one is plain black (with Mickey parts), but it's a regular binder you can put baseball card sheets in. I'm thinking of getting it because I keep most of my LE pins on cards anyway, and it's easier to change up, and I feel like they're more protected in plastic. Right now I'm using a pink quilted bag that was also from Disneyland that I might end up using for my smaller side collections and holiday pins.
 
Oh I know, I feel the same way but I think I'm going to suck it up and shell out the money. Alternatively I was at the outlets near WDW and I found a small blue 2015 pin bag for $3.99. It doesn't hold much but for that price I couldn't pass it up lol.
 
They also make cheap, generic ones...people use them for Disney pins, but you can use them for any type of pin (Hard Rock, Flags, etc.). They're on eBay. In fact, there's probably used Disney ones on eBay, as well. My Mother-in-Law got one for me, and I was always surprised by how well it did...in some ways, it was better for pin trading than the official Disney ones were.

As someone said, the outlets sometime get them, as well. I got my nice faux leather ones back in 2008ish from the outlets for 50% off.

I also like the binders. Do be careful with the trading card sleeves, though...make sure you get the medium grade. The "light" grade (often used for coupons, but sometimes they're also just the cheap baseball card sleeves) are too floppy to hold the weight of pins, and the high-grade aren't acid free (and they're tough to get pins in and out of, because they're so tight).
 
Thank you for all of the insight and wonderful suggestions! I would never of thought baseball card sheets would work. I'm definitely going to look around more and explore my options.
 
My mother in law sewed me some black, 3-ring pages that are envelopes of sorts. I put Coroplast sheets in them and stick my pins on (card and all, sometimes). I'll post pics when I get the chance. I'm a newer collector, too.

Very happy to have a bag for my traders. Instead of the plastic baggie I had been using.
 
I'm fortunate enough to have a character warehouse by where I live so I can snag up pin bags when they go on clearance! Frankly, I love them (much more so than binders) due to their appearance and velvety soft pages; but in terms of functionality an afternoon of DIY crafting and you can end up with a great treasure chest for your pins.
 
I always adored those pink princess pin bags. One of the pin collectors on YT has that bag and her Belle and Marie collection looks so nice on those light pink pages. Wish those bags were still avilable for purchase

I did the exact same thing just two days ago. I knew I should have looked at those binders.
