I might work on a braided hair lanyard, using gold ribbon and thread, with little ribbon roses and flowers embroidered in like she wears them in the film. 🙂 Not sure if this will be too decorative for a lanyard, though! :lol:

Beautiful job so far! 😀 And I really love the braided hair idea with the flowers. That would be...WOW. If I got one I'd probably have to wear 2 lanyards - yours because it's pretty, and a plain one for the pins! lol 🙂

Aw, thanks Steve! 🙂 ^_^ It's quite rough around the edges, but it will do for my personal lanyard. 🙂 I didn't actually use gold (it's pastel pink like the embroidery in her dress- but it sure does look gold in the pictures! 🙂), but it's certainly another great idea from your end! 🙂 I might work on a braided hair lanyard, using gold ribbon and thread, with little ribbon roses and flowers embroidered in like she wears them in the film. 🙂 Not sure if this will be too decorative for a lanyard, though! :lol:

Just a thought, if you do the braided hair, make each section angled (maybe 30 - 45 degrees) and vertically spaced about 50mm (2 inches) apart so it looks like the tresses are wrapped around the lanyard. Pins can be placed in the gaps.

The Rapunzel lanyard is looking beautiful, but speaking as an artisan/crafts person myself, I don't know that you will be able to make these at a cheap enough price to make it worth your time. If it's taken you 2 hours to just get 1/4 the way done...I mean you should be charging yourself at least $10 an hour, so that's what 4 hours, making it $40 and then you should take the price of your materials and double it, this is the fairest way for you to make this worth while to yourself, unless you are just doing these as gifts, I often make things that have a lot of time, effort and material cost that goes in it that I end up eating to give as gifts, but if this is to make money it sounds like you'd need to charge $50 to make it worth your time. And while I'm certainly NOT discouraging you, you might want to think about how much you need to make to make it worth it to you before you let people get carried away, reading the thread it sounds like people are kind of already asking you to make certain ones. I hate being the voice of reason, I know it's no fun, but I would really consider a price point before you start making lanyards for others. I just have a bad feeling that people are not going to want to pay $40-50 for a lanyard, especially since one person has already quoted 8-10, and that was including shipping. Hopefully though I'm wrong and you make a killing selling these. 🙂

I wasn't trying to imply that you were making a low-ball offer, and I did realize that it was in pounds, I was just encouraging her to really consider if this is going to be a good way to make money. I do sew and I know that embroidering something, especially if it's by hand or even free hand on the machine can be quite time consuming. Hand made things just cost a lot more to make. And sometimes that cost is more than people can/want to pay. It's not a negative thing to all of you if you don't/can't pay high prices and it's not a negative thing to her if she has to charge them, it's just the reality. I hope that it works out for everyone, but as an individual you just can't get the price on materials that big companies can and it ends up being so much more expensive to make.

I only used your price as an example because you were the only person who came up with one. I would imagine that if that's the price you're thinking than many others might be thinking about the same.

This person does primarily Disney-inspired hair ribbons...and they are really amazing! I feel like many of them would transfer well to a lanyard-style. I have always wanted to try and do something like this...but haven't got around to it. 🙂

Thank you very much for your feedback, I appreciate it a lot! 🙂 I do realise it will take me a long time to do this, but as a student in between jobs (and on vacation for 5 1/2 weeks :lol🙂, I don't think I would regret agreeing to make affordable lanyards for people who want them 🙂 I don't ever plan to charge more than $30 (and even that is a little excessive in my eyes) for a custom lanyard for someone, with it working out cheaper if people don't want it fully embroidered. 🙂 I could even offer appliqued lanyards, which will be a lot more affordable because they won't take so long, and still might end up just as aesthetically pleasing 🙂 My prices (when I get them worked out) will reflect the workings of a fashion student and not a professional, and I try my best to make a product nice for someone else, especially if they happen to be paying me! :lol: I take great joy in making special gifts or products for people, so these will be a labour of love and not stress! 🙂 So, people are paying me to do what I enjoy, and they get a (hopefully) special one of a kind lanyard I hope they'll enjoy! Sorry if I'm sounding bigheaded, but I hope to make the lanyards as pretty as possible, and if the client doesn't like it... I will keep it for myself and make them others until they do like it! :lol: I'll always be willing to work with kind, understanding people on price ranges and what they can afford, as long as they understand sometimes I just can't find certain materials, you wouldn't believe the lack of craft stores in England! :lol: 🙂

BUMP! <3 🙂 Over the weekend, I should be posting completely finished pics of my Rapunzel lanyard, and soon after I should be opening up slots for lanyards to be made... so look out for that! 🙂 I can make any lanyard in almost any theme/design, as long as I can find the materials for it... I can also do applique lanyards instead of lanyards that have been embroidered if you think the design will work better that way! 🙂 <3

It has taken me so long to find all the right stuff and at the right price and make sure it will not change over time. If you ever want help with good suplies... let me know. All though we both make lanyards... i do not think we will step on toes. Your style is much more hand made and with a soft look. We make thick heavy duty lanyards with prints. Its all custom but not done bye hand. Good luck with your work and i hope too see more. take care
