Hey I recently shipped a package via a pinpics trade to Massachusetts, shipped end of April I believe the 24th with DC, the package has yet to arrive to the recipient and they are getting very upset.

Expected delivery was April 27th is there anything I can do to try and get the other person their pin faster. Also not sure why the pin got to Massachusetts and then went to West Virginia just seems like the post office is really messing this one up.

Thanks for any help
Brandon

I sent a small Priority Mail box to Hawaii on a trade. It went to North Dakota for three days. PM mail is supposed to take about 2 days, this took a week. And of course, it is not guaranteed by USPS. But what do you expect from the government? If it weren't for FedEx stepping in to help with logistic, we would still be waiting two weeks for 1st class mail to go from Cal to TX.

I think sometimes the PO just screws up. I recently had a package show that it sat in the Oakland sort facility for over a week even though it was really close to the package's final destination.

yeh the person who is waiting, just has to wait. They have the DC# correct? They can see where it is at all times. It is out of your hands. I had a pin sit in the Tampa soting facility for over 8 days??? No idea why. It is weird that it went to WVA---seems like an error so now it will take a while to get to MASS.

I had the PO lose a pin that I mailed, so I mailed a replacement with delivery confirmation. It took several errant stops at random cities before finally being delivered a week late.

Then 3 weeks ago I mailed out two LE 250 Tinker Bell pins, with delivery confirmation. The tracking says it was scanned in my home town, processed through the larger PO facility, and then nothing. It hasn't been updated in nearly three weeks. I have a feeling it'll never get there.

Wow. Scary. I never use Priority Mail. It's a scam. As a test I shipped two packages from the same PO here to the same destination in CA. One went Priority. The other Parcel Post. The parcel post package got there 4 days earlier. Go figure.

Seen this on the eBay community boards - I have never tried this with pins, but no reason not to try...
The sellers try calling either their own local P.O. and/or the toll-free USPS number and give them the tracking number. I'm not sure what happens next. Could be the P.O. employee tags the piece in their system which makes someone look for it, or maybe they call the facility where the package is stuck. But whatever happens, they seem to have good luck jogging the wayward package loose and on its way again. No promises.....but worth a try.

I can't even begin to tell you the amount of times USPS has lost a pin package. Don't even waste your time with insurance either. Unless you have the ORIGINAL receipt showing the exact amount you paid for the pin in question, they won't do anything. The crazy part of the whole thing is, we did have a receipt but it didn't show exactly what pin we purchased, it just said "Pin $8.95" so "No Refund For You!" So, unless you have a receipt showing exactly which pin you purchased, don't even waste time on Insurance through the P.O. We still have a pin headed our way from Michigan that was mailed in January. It was scanned through Detroit but that was it. Here's the funny part, the person who sent it to me has family works for the P.O. Even someone who works for them couldn't do anything about this missing pin, which is still missing by the way. I think the machines that sort the mail sometimes rip open packages, especially bubble wrap packages. We have started including index cards inside envelopes stating where the pins are supposed to go in case this does happen.

Nothing to do with USPS (I think) because I'm from the Netherlands, but really upset. A member from here bought a pin from me what I had bought from a friend for this member and I've sent the pin out but still hasn't arrived yet, but the trade we made what I've shipped on May 2ND arrived yesterday to the same person, I'm so upset about it :(
We don't get a confirmation # or we have to send insured which starts at €16 and over..... Really don't know what to do :(

UPDATE...so it seems the package is finally out for delivery in Mass that took forever fingers crossed it actually makes it to the person now. I just wonder why the detour to West Virginia the post office really needs to straighten out their system

I sent out a small pin package a few weeks ago. It was scanned as out for delivery but never got delivered. Well, the recipient went and harassed her post office for a week with the tracking number. I guess they finally decided to go looking and found it stuck between the containers.

Supposedly since pin packages are so small they can get stuck in bags, bins, between bins and containers, etc. So see where the item was in its last scan and then go harass that post office until they decide to go looking for it.

The USPS makes no sense. I live 2 miles from a USPS sort facility in MA, yet my mail goes to Providence, RI to get sorted! Try to figure that one out cause I can't. :p

most likely the package got misdirected and got on the wrong truck/plane that's why it went to WV, it happens all the time

Not sure why they would be upset with you. You gave them the tracking info, too, right? So, they have been able to track the package and see that it was the USPS that sent their pin on a ridiculous scenic route(this has happened to me many times). Glad to hear that is it out for delivery now, but sorry to hear you have been stressed out about it. It wasn't your fault that the USPS is taking longer than necessary to delivery it to the other trader.

yeah I gave them the DC number they claim it shows nothing...but I have been vibrantly tracking it by copy pasting that # and it works fine for me. Just glad the pin is finally going to arrive as I got a grail for it.

I'm going to tell my story again: so one time, a pin that was sent to me marked that it was DELIVERED! and I NEVER got it. I think the mail carriers sent it to the wrong house IDK.

Then another time, my package for misdirected too! I was like what the!.. but it went to the right place after a week or so.

I really have a problem with the USPS. It all started back in 2006. Like everyone, trades are only by mail unless local or trade night.

The problem is not the monopoly of postage and mail carriers (excluding FedEx and UPS), it the whole thing of I have to PAY for a DC and/or insurance?!?!?!?!

What other business does this? Hello, we will accept your business BUT if you want it to get there you must pay us to:

1 - get it somewhere not always to the right place
2 - insure it incase we break it along the way
3 - pay to show that your package wasn't just thrown away or at a mail carriers house.
4 - pay extras because you can't have a DC unless the package is xx" high or the box is 2" too wide so well have to increase the cost to the next rate. Oh the box is so small but it weights 5 pounds so well gave to increase the postage even though the box next to it weights 2 pounds and cost $5 less to ship.

Don't get me started on the lines at the post office. What other business tells you how to package in the building and online but yet let's you bring an empty box and wrap and tape and address the box at the cashier waiting about 15 minutes because oh I forgot its your first time to the post office AGAIN. And I'm not at McDonalds, I came to send something or else I would not be there. Don't try to sell me forever stamps, PO boxes, or anything else or would you like to upgrade your package for $10 more we can get it there in 2 days. I still don't understand how a package can get some where in 7-10 business days but as long as I pay $$$ they will work and get it their sooner.

And the mail carriers, this is for the 4 trucks that park on my street just 1 1/2 blocks out if view from the Post Office. I assume they end their route 1 or so hours before clocking out so they waste our tax money doing nothing but talking and smoking for that time. If it were my business, they would be cleaning and making sure all the packages are ready from the cashiers hands to us.

Awwwwwwwwwwww, government run business. Oh yah, $20 + to walk around and put an envelope in a box. I have to end here.

This. cracked. me. up.

... so much that I had to read it aloud to my mom. We are both right there with you, Master!

I absolutely HATE when this happens! It wasn't updating and the person had my phone number so they were continually harassing me, telling me the DC number was fake, etc. I was SO annoyed!

Couldn't you report them for harassment over the phone? Cause that ain't cool to be doing. Even if I did have someone's number I would not pull that on them.

What you can do is on the upsp site for tracking you can request to have email updates set to up to 3 peoples emails. I would put in their email address and have them email all activity on that lbe to that other person. it will show all the revelent stuff needed. and ask them to stop harrassing you about it as you have proof you mailed it.

3 weeks ago I mailed out two LE 250 Tinker Bell pins, with delivery confirmation. The tracking says it was scanned in my home town, processed through the larger PO facility, and then nothing. It hasn't been updated in nearly three weeks. I have a feeling it'll never get there.

So I resent the two pins (I had two of each pin) on Monday, and the tracking info says it's left my PO for the central PO here. But it never arrived. Two days ago. I think that USPS has now lost BOTH packages. #*#&$*#(!!!!!!!

The worst part of it all is that the people at the PO don't give a smack about your mail. When my package got lost I called the number they provided me with but they told me the same thing that the tracking number info on my computer said and then said they couldn't do anything about it. To top it all off ,the person on the phone was super rude! :/

@supertank: don't give up just yet. One time one of my packages was stuck at the same place for 3 weeks and then again at another place for another week and it was a domestic package!
