Lately this is all we sit here and dream about, all we think about and apparently they are the next big thing.

But I wanted to ask a question:

WHY DO YOU LOVE/HATE PTDS?

In previous months people treated them like simple GWP pins, even though they had a low LE number, and they didn't trade well except maybe Pascal and Rapunzel.

People hated them because they were small...

Because the character doesn't eat ice cream (it's OOC)...

I'm only asking because I've been so astounded that characters like Jaq, Gus gus and Rollie have flown off the shelves!

I know very FEW real PTD collectors, and I can understand how people will want their favorite character, but at least 150 people were practically living there, and I want to know why you guys love them so much? It obviously can't all be for the money right?

I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE A SIMPLE DISCUSSION ON PTDS. DO NOT CALL ANYONE OUT, DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICES YOU HAVE TO PAY AFTER THEY'RE SOLD OUT OR HOW IT'S HARD TO GET THE CHARACTERS YOU LIKE UNLESS IT'S CONSTRUCTIVE TO THIS THREAD.

YOU MAY:
Talk about your favorites, disagree with others, show us your collection, say why the designs suck and how you could do better. But do not attack anyone personally or DSF. This isn't the place.

Im newer, but I like that they are good traders. I only had LGM and Gaston originally, and I traded those away. Now I have Giselle and the only other PTD that I really want is Pip. and maybe Dumbo for my daughters collection.

Personally I love PTDs.

I got to go to DSF the last day I worked at Disney and I got I think a Mickey pin for my grandma. She loved it so much we went back the following release. Collecting them because a personal thing between me and her because she loved to go down there for a day out of the house and enjoy an ice cream and a pin.

She says her favorite part of the Pin Trader Delights are that even though they're small, they're realllllly detailed, and she loves them for that.

I liked them because we got lots of characters that don't normally get a lot of pins. For me, it was Kuzco, Figaro, Lucifer, and Si/Am.

Also, since they have ice cream in them, you tend to get pins that look different from all the other. Frankly, most Si & Am pins look kind of the same. They always have the two cats and that's about it. Having the ice cream in them made the pins look unique.

Dumbo was one of the very few got to keep :3 It's a great size and good looking pin! I hope you can get one someday!

thanks. I dont want to pay high dollar for a pin for a child, but I do hope I can get it someday. :) now Pip, hes's for me, and I probably would pay top dollar happily for him!

I personally can't stand them except to have the characters I like and NO way I would pay the prices being asked. The main two reasons I don't like them are
1. The size
2.The stress they are causing some of my fellow pin traders

I do have Hook and wouldn't mind having Goofy, but it's for the character not the pin.

having said that I would love the icecream.... lol.

There's a couple that I like, but usually because the character falls into one of my collections, but honestly don't see the big deal. The only Monsters Inc one so far is Boo, and she is super wonky looking. Never the less I have her lol. I do regard then as GWP.

I only collect the caracters I collect but I love them because I enjoy getting an ice cream with my son and getting a pin I can use for trading unless itis a character I collect then it's a keeper! I think they are great!

I don't collect PTDs specifically and there are only a handful of ones I want (Minnie - I love that the ice cream makes a Mickey head, Meeko, Skippy, and Goofy) but I think it is a really fun idea. Get an ice cream and a pin at the same time - what could be better? Plus there are a lot of characters that don't get many other pins and it is fun to see which characters pop up. For the popular characters, it is a change from the standard pose or scene. I would like for the pins to be bigger but I have heard they are very detailed and perhaps this makes up for the size. Overall, I think it is the excitement and uniqueness of the whole idea that made them fun. However, recently I think it is more that people really want PTDs because they are PTDs rather than the experience of getting a PTD. I imagine once another pin set is released and builds in popularity there will be a decline in the rush for PTDs but I bet it will be a long time before, and if, it goes back to the same pin lasting weeks and people casually going into DSF to get them.

The reason I love PTD's is because they are good traders and they are unique to DSF. I only went for characters I wanted. I would get one for myself and one for trade. Now with the new rule change I don't go as much as I would usually be by myself. So now I just take my girlfriend or a friend and we get to hang out and have some ice cream together win/win. By the way the lemon ice cream is AWESOME!

I don't collect PTD's. I have a few but they are because I love the characters. I do like that the pins are detailed and I like the poses they chose for the 4 PTD's I do have (Russell, Carl, Kevin and Ray).

I'm not a huge fan of PTDs. :ugh:

I can understand why people like them (especially if you live close to DSF as they make good traders)...they feature a wide variety of characters in different poses and such...but beyond the character variety, I (personally) don't quite get the hype of pins featuring characters eating ice cream. When I think of pins I would like Disney to make, I can't say that characters eating or holding ice cream comes to mind. I understood the Beloved Tales hype, as those are beautiful pins featuring classic and iconic scenes from movies, but characters eating ice cream? But hey...whatever floats your boat. :)

I do own the Rapunzel PTD and think it is cute and well done, and I do like the Ariel one. If she was in mermaid form it wouldn't really appeal to me as that wouldn't really make much sense, but because she is in her town dress I think it works. When she was exploring the town she was very curious and eager to try new things, and I think she would have definitely tried some ice cream. :)

I think the PTDs are cute (I just received the one and only one I really, really wanted, which is awesome), but there's just so much hassle attached to them. Low LE sizes and ridiculous resale prices make them undesirable. I only care about watching for characters I'd want.

I can't even say they're as tradeable as I'd like; I traded for a King Candy PTD in hopes I could trade that for an Iron Man DSF pin and I was flat out rejected by everyone offering to trade Iron Man for King Candy. Incredibly disappointing.

I agree with a lot of what has been stated already but I also wanted to mention that I think the 'unpopular' characters sold out quickly was only to be able to see who the next character was as soon as possible.

I feel the Charlotte one coming! I would love it so hard.

I also collect the ones for my collections - they are cute to me because they are a unique idea. I would love them just the same no matter what edition size they are! :) I have all four Tangled pins (two are on the way!!!) and both Lion King so my main two collections are happy lol

I think the reason I like (some) PTDs is because they are doing something casual, which is eating ice cream :) It's just cute! And they are not in their usual poses. I don't have my PTD yet (it's the Jessica Poka-dot version) until this Saturday, but I know that if I could change something about them it would be their size. I would like them to be as big as the DLP OE Rapunzel pin.

I can understand why people would collect them, and that could very well be for traders or because they are exclusive to the DSF, but they are just fun pins to have and they could very well be hard to get Hidden Mickey pins. There's really no reason to go bonkers about them like what happened a couple days ago  but hey! That's one of the crazy sides any type of hobby, right?

Still, I am hoping to get Rapunzel soon, and I would love for a Tiana PTD to come out :x:

*and I wish with all my heart for some Studio Ghibil PTDs*

I think PTDs are way cuter then the beloved takes craze. But that's just me personally... As a manager at cold stone for 4 years while I was in high school how can I hate a cute Disney pin that incorporates ice cream?!?! Haha but I don't collect them. I do small sets of them though!! Like I collect all the batb, tangled, up, the specific Alice ones I like, the wreck it Ralph, and I have two of the three dwarves released.

Im hoping they continue doing more of the obscure characters so I can add to my meeko, esmerelda, and hope eventually they make all seven dwarves. That would be so cute!!!!

I love the PTDs! I think they are adorable, and I don't collect them all usually. I try to only get the ones that fit into my collections, or ones that catch my eye because they are so cute! There are a couple of them though, that are scary looking.

I really like the PTDs :). They're just so cute and I'm a sucker for cute things . However, I'll only collect the characters that go with my collections or a character I just happen to like.

There are some really cute PTD but I wont lose sleep if I don't have them in my collection. I would like the few Snow White and PATF ones they have for my collection. I plan on being a PATF completist (one day!) so I do need them for my collection but otherwise I don't really care if I get them or not.
