Trade Auctions...People bidding for others and / or rooting for them to win...
I dislike it when either of those 2 situations happen. It's not hard to see that trade auctions are also based off of opinions and when you have members  to another member's bid, or saying things like "if you don't win then I don't know," it's clearly going to play a role in the decision making of the auctioneer. Every post in an auction should either be a bid, leader board update or a bump. All other distractions can be taken elsewhere in this community. Also, when people started adding bids to their friend's bid, I was opposed and called it out. It's one thing to tell your friend to add this to your bid privately, then there's another thing doing it publicly swaying other members from wanting to bid due to chances that it's not going to be a fair bidding ground. I totally understand what the frustration expressed in the OP was about and it isn't very pleasing.

Bold typed spot is what i respond to :) all of your post is great, but the bold is what i want to add too.

I actually completely agree with this. I like making my auctions entertaining with pics/gifs and video's that pertain to the topic of my auction. But sometimes an auction gets 15 posts withing 10 minutes that are just 2 people replying back and forth.... Take it to PM!!!!

I also understand the occasional "friendly bump" that folks do for others.... But it is not nessisary if there has been a reply or post within the last 12-24 hours. And if a fiend does it, does it count as your "bump" for the day? i think it should. I believe the daily bump is supposed to only be used if you have had no replies in the last 24 hours.

However, i think thats a diff topic. lol

Janice <3 This thread being brought up was NOT about you. It was resurrected before your auction was even over. I think lately people have been feeling a little icky about trade auctions in general and felt the need to post which brought the thread back to life. I have been watching a few questionable ones the last two weeks. Hakuna Matata! No worries and work back to being happy Janice :) I'm pretttttty sure that everyone on the forum likes you...ALOT! ha! By the way, I will be PMing you about what you want for your ariel lanyard!

Thank you Amy because I am im tears right now, I feel like crap for letting my feelings take over and own me right now, I felt so bad for messing up her auction, and I hope she knows how sorry I am, I feel guilty right now thats why I feel the way I do.

Janice, I am not going to deny that my post was based on my feelings about ihafft's auction. However, it was not at all a result of any sort of animosity towards you or anyone else that added to your bid. (How could I be angry with any of you - all you were doing was bidding on a pin, and all the other members were doing was going out of their way to be kind and helpful. Nothing wrong with that!) It was nothing personal towards any of you, just general thoughts that I felt needed to be addressed, and more importantly, resolved, which is why I suggested adding to others bids in private.

If any of your tears were a result of my actions, I thoroughly apologize, as that was not at all my intention. I hold no anger towards you (in fact, I know I've never talked to you much, but as far as I can tell you're a wonderful person!) I wish you nothing but the best, and I do hope that you are able to cheer up and don't let this one incidence (at which no one seems to have any hard feelings about) get you down. <3

i dont think the intention of bidding for others is to make others sad not at all but i could see why it would, here are my concerns.
is res-urecting this thread or making it in the first place when people are bidding for others a little insensitive / could hurt others feeling without meaning too? - yes, just like bidding for others.

is bidding for others okay? i think so, i would want to help people i love or at least try, i don't think its a click thing but if in person i saw a friend negotiating and my pins would help, i would give it to them.

i understand where people are coming from with the bidding behind the scenes but here is my concern, if the original person bidding adds your offered pins to there post then what happens if they win and you back out? im sure it would never happen but imagine! and then is it there bad feedback because they are bidding? if i am adding pins i want everyone to see that i am responsible for those pins, not to gloat but if god forbid my package never arrived and so on it would fall on my head and not my friends.

In the rare case where someone else helped me win, I notified the auctioneer that the pin(s) came from a different location and a separate package was to be expected. That solves that concern a tiny bit.

Jrdnsmom, I like you but that's because you have the exquisite taste to collect Si & Am. Not everyone has the good sense to collect these wonderful little angels.

Janice, I want you do know that this thread was definitely in no way meant to offend you. You were only being kind to me and I can never thank you enough for it.

That being said, I noticed this thread was revived days after Janice was nice enough to help me in the auction for one of my Most Wanted pins which is also the last I need in the entire set. It was a really kind gesture by Janice and I tried to stay out of this thread since I was sure I was the reason for its revival but I feel partially at fault now and I am very sorry.

Jeff and whomever else was trying to bid on it, I am very sorry this all happened. I know how you feel as at the beginning of this year, one of my grails was up for auction and I was outbid by a duo who combined their bids to top mine so I know how it feels, it sucks, it really does and while I lost that pin sadly knowing that there was no way I could beat 2 people openly bidding for one another, I do not want other people to feel that way.

For that reason, if you guys really want, I can reject Janice's amazing offer to help me and I can try to win on my own. I cannot stop another bid where it is 2 people helping each other and they will no doubt win if I take my bid out, but I do not want to hurt this community, that is not my intention. The way I see it, I've been searching for this pin for close to 8 months now and have lost out on it numerous times, what's another one time.

Don't worry about me. I'm honestly glad you did win it. I'm not upset at you, anyone who helped others in the bidding, or the auctioneer itself. But being on the wrong end of group bidding and knowing that out of the three leaders in the auction I was bidding on, I was the only one bidding solely their own pins really kinda sucks. But since that's the way these auctions go, since I don't really agree with it, I just won't participate in them.

I avoided the auctions here for a long time but decided to give it a try this past week. I won one and lost two. That's OK. I don't really have the friend network others have on this board so these auctions just really aren't for me.

Congrats to you Kupo! I know you'll give the pin a great home in a cool collection.

Janice, you don't need to worry! :) Hollie has been in the same place over this thread thinking it is about her. She feels exactly the same way you did/do and has been in tears. I'm sorry to hear that you have been upset by this.

It has happened to me when a Mod decided to help another individual so I know the automatic feeling but I also know that sometimes it happens. Most if the time help isn't being asked for.
Help over PMs can be just as obvious as well though sometimes.

Apples and oranges!! I agree there is no problem with helping somebody get a pin in person, as there is no other competition for the pin, in person! How many times, using your example do you see people competing to get a pin at the same time from the same trader throwing up offers to outbid the other person. This just does not happen in person! Totally different scenarios.

I completely agree with this! They are totally different scenarios. My friends in person have offered to help me and there is nothing wrong with that because I'm doing a one on one trade with a person with no other parties also trying to vie for the same pin. I would never ask or want someone to help me in a trade auction. There are multiple people trying to get the same pin at once and obviously everyone bidding wants the pin, it's not fair to use the excuse " oh we'll this other member that I know wants this pin more..." you don't know that and it should be a fair game for all involved.
