I bought a few pins from this seller on Ebay, in effort to build up my traders, only to receive them and realize that they were all REALLY GOOD counterfeit versions of the originals. I know this because I did some research by way of pinpics, prior discussions on this forum, and the internet in general.

Either way, I figured I would let the rest of you know that the pins being sold by this seller are counterfeit.

On a side not, we should have a blacklist page or something on the forum, so that we can avoid each other the troubles, and help eliminate these fraudulent sellers from this market.

UPDATE: I won my case with paypal... shipped the items back and provided paypal with tracking info, and they will return my money as soon as the package gets there. Excited I won, not so excited about the situation as a whole... Oh well, there will be bigger and better packages in my mail box someday...

I negotiated 15 LE pins, all around LE 250-300 for $150.00. Bought a couple Keyhole Pins, some steampunk gears, a couple decade series jessica rabbits, one nightmare before christmas pin (for my collection) and a few others.
 

Unfortunately those are all pins that have been heavily counterfeited. Pull up his completed listings and you'll see that he's sold those same pins over and over again (far too many given the edition sizes).

BTW: we are not allowed to post sellers' names on the forum, so you should remove it from the thread title
 
I had been previously warned about this same seller, but unfortunately I recently got duped again by them, because they had a new ebay username. I only realized it was them when their email turned out to be [old username]@somethingorother.com. Since you don't see the email until payment time, it just didn't click with me until later that it was probably the same person.

I don't have any proof that the pin I bought is a counterfeit-- if so, it's a really good one-- but it's likely given the similarity of names. I didn't ask for a return; I'm just chalking it up to "live and learn." :/
 

That sucks. However, I don't intend to eat $150 as a "live and learn." lol... I'm graduating from law school in May of this year... I know my rights and how to argue them! I'll get my money back.
 
As most collectors have done and continue to do even with extreme caution, I've also bought counterfeits on Ebay and wasn't lucky to be able to send back. ah well. But as Pargani stated it is against forum rules to openly post a seller's info, which should be removed unless you want to get a message from a moderator. I'm sure members here have an online seller/trader/ebay beware list running around, just ask politely and best of luck getting your money back.

Just trying to spread the word so that it does not happen to anyone else. If anyone can PM me or provide me with the "secret blacklist list," that would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, the gears pins are really mass produced I figured out. I have three, but I got them from either this forum or irl trades, so I'm fairly sure they're real.

^ this! If someone could also pm me with the list of shady sellers, I'd really appreciate it, too. I've bought a few pins off eBay & got one lot that was definitely bad. I think the rest were ok, but I would definitely like to know which sellers to stay away from. Thank you.
 
I am sorry to hear what happen to you but glad you are getting your money back. I have a question if anyone knows the answer to it,how can you tell the pins aren't really cuz I can't tell the difference. this is just an example a lanyard pin I can't tell if it is a scrapper or counterfeit . I mean if you feel an all lanyard pin it is thicker than the new ones out there. Is there a way to find out if a pin is really or scrapper? I just can't tell.I am so scare to go lanyard to lanyards in the park cuz I feel all of the pins are going to be scrapper,I don't want to trade my old lanyard pins even if I have several of them for the new ones.Any ay can you pm the name of the seller to me. I don't want to be buying pins from them LOL
