What DON'T you collect? Why?
i love pins that say Disneyland on them but I don't want pins that are from walt disney world.

Interesting how many people avoid pins with years. I only have an issue with a year pin when nearly the entire pin design is the year. Like this one, 82494. Eww... I don't mind at all if the year is small and off to the side like in 86272.

I never collect the following:
- vinylmation (I don't understand why these even exist.)
- Star Wars
- Tron
- anything sports related (exceptions are extremely rare)

I generally don't collect the following but I may make an exception for something that catches my eye:
- Mickey / Minnie / Pluto
- Tinker Bell
- Stitch
- Alphabet

I do not collect Disney channel pins (Hanana Montana, HS Musical etc..) Star Wars, Tron, Figment. Their just not my type. Ive become picky now with pins lately. I like to collect Dumbo & Tangled. Also I collect pins that I really like or "must have/cant live without".

I agree with the original "no pins with years" comment. I only get them if they mean something to me personally, as some have posted. But no way do I get them for trade. Once that day/year/month/holiday (holiday with a YEAR printed with it) no one wants it.

NBC creeped me out as a kid, so no NBC unless its for trade to those that do like it.

No fab 5 unless again it means something personal for me. Fab 5 just does not trade sadly, especially the head mouse. They HAVE put him in everything. His market is way, waaaaaay over-flooded.

No old hidden mickeys, too many fakes. I only collect them as they come out, and then I am a completionist. Almost got em all for this year, I need like 16 out of the 161 from this year (there are a LOT of em).

I don't do live action kiddie stuff. Don't really do much of anything live action come to think of it. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney live action (non-Disney Channel though... Disney Channel... eww...) I just agree with a couple of people in saying that I don't like em on pins, they don't look very good to me.

And while I love Stitch (he makes up about 1/3 of my 1000 pins) I don't like him as a pissed off alien. He has to be cute.

We only collect the princesses we like, which happen to be Ariel and Belle; the favorites of both myself and my wife. Just never got into the others. Especially Tiana. We do collect Jessica, simply because my wife IS a Jessica, but some of them do get a little interesting for a Disney product; [pinpics]53169[/pinpics] case in point.

And while I collect real Vinylmation, I never could get into the pins; way too many fakes floating around and it really turned me off in the early days.

Oh. And Figment. Keep that freaky Barney wannabe away from me!

I don't collect Figment, Disney Channel, or pins with years on them (unless it commemorates the release of a movie, like Pinocchio 1940 or something like that).

I must be in the minority because I DO collect pins with years in them, but mostly because my big collections are holidays or celebrations (Halloween, Mardi Gras, St Pat's, and to a smaller extent Oktoberfest). And I also like event pins (Food and Wine, Flower and Garden, Doll and Teddy Bear) whether or not I actually attended the event. So for everyone who doesn't like year pins, thank you because that's more for me!

As far as what I don't like, I'm still in the minority. I DO NOT LIKE Jessica Rabbit or Cheshire Cat pins. Even the Halloween ones. Don't see what the big draw is. That cat creeps me out and Jessica's just kind of funny looking. She doesn't have a face. Just eyes and lips.

What are PIFs/Zaps?

I do not like Tinkbell! I cant stand her as a character. I will not go near pins or any other merch to do with her lol

I dont really like pins with years on them, esp say Easter 2010 from WDW...as I was not there at the time, so I dont think I should have a pin to celebrate it lol

Princesses. Dont really dig buying girly stuff lol

I agree

I haven't been on here in a loooong time, but I want to get back in the conversation! So, here goes:

I don't collect any special events or years that I did not I attend. I also don't like any of the baby looking pins! If it were a character that we have seen as a baby before, then maybe (like Simba), but not random characters such as the fab 5 or princesses. Like others, I also don't collect live action pins. Other than those I pretty much collect everything I like!

I only collect movie pins from the 50 animated feature films and their characters and scenes. I dont do holiday pins or characters dressed as other people or things. I actually love the dates on pins. I also display them and keep them grouped in their movies (anal right?) Not very into the fab 5, i have a few park attraction pins i like and also old black and white pins and silly symphonies. No pixar or disney channel. Funny how everyone has there own way of collecting.

I also wanna know what a Zap and PIF are? New to alot of this

I love that everyone has their own way of collecting! I also just realized that I never consciously chose NOT to collect those pins. This thread just made me think about it and put it in list form.

I don't really collect pins with situations/writing on it that have nothing to do with the movie/ride/etc. .... I'm also not a completist so I don't collect every single pin of every category I collect in.

I am totally with you on these two statements. One of my main collections is Magic Kingdom, and I can't stand attraction pins with unrelated characters. I want a pin of just the Space Mountain exterior by itself, not with Stitch riding over it. And I am WAY too picky to try to collect every pin from any category. I'm thankful that I don't have that completist temperment, because it's very liberating to be able to say I don't need pins that I don't respond to.

I'll start off with the easiest (for me). I don't really collect pins with Donald or Goofy on them, because those characters never really appealed to me. I also tend to trade away or sell pins from specific events. (I've gotten quite a few in trades from friends, and my rule is that if I wasn't there in person for the event, I really have no reason to hold onto it). Oh and (I know I'm going to get some flak for this) Stitch and Figment pins. Those characters don't really resonate with me on any level. Speaking of which, if anyone has interest in a Stitch Tower of Terror pin with the sliding doors, send me a PM.

Now, back to work for me.

Has nothing to do with the thread...just absolutly LOVE that pic. I would have been in heaven as a little girl with the Mary Poppins dress!

I only collect CM nametags and badges, items that are for Disney's internal use. The current mountain of junk merchandise that Disney offers for sale to collectors, like the designer dolls and vinylation, are just fad collectibles that aren't worth what you pay for them.
