What is your preferred method to initiate a pin trade?

Hi everyone,
i am just wondering what is your preferred method on DPF to initiate a trade request. Do you post in the trading section or do you PM the person you would like to try a make a trade with? I have made several purchases with members but haven't done any trades yet on DPF I have done lots of trades on pinpics but it would be nice to make some trades with people who you have a little more contact with than just blind pinpics requests.

Just wondering what is the best way to ask about trading with each other?

I like to PM people. Sometimes I'll just be browsening on the forum and click on people's wants and see if I have anything that they want or are looking for.
 
PMs all the way really, you don't want to clutter up a tread with your trade arrangements and you can be sure your trading partner has received the message too. I'm starting to stay away from Pinpics, people send really silly trade requests!
 
Thanks for the replies! I really think PM is probably the best way too, just wanted to see what your experiences were. I didn't want to PM people and they would think I was out of line for doing so.

Both! I posted a Wanted in the trading section when I had a specific pin I was looking for. (Warning: takes patience, you may not get replies, and it falls off the "new posts" board quickly so you need to bump once a day.) Also I look through the trading section at Trading and Wanted posts, and I usually PM the person if there's a potential trade there. (I also usually comment with "PM Sent". It lets them know and also gives them a bump.) I also PM someone if I just see a match to our wants & trades that I'm interested in.
 
I like my auctions. I also love it when people randomly PM me with trade offers. I don't offer via PM typically, IDK why. And about once a month I do a massive pinpics request list. Usually get some excellent responses to that.
 
I usually send a nice pm along the lines:

" Hello!

I am interested in your (post picture and link of pin)

I have these off your wants list (post picture(s) and link(s) to pin(s) )

Please let me know if there is anything we can work out!
