Ill be there friday when the official line officially starts. If the unofficial line thinks they can roll up and jump in line they have another thing coming.

Maybe people don't get it? The unofficial line isn't some made up thing on the internet, like an agreement of order amongst a clique. The unofficial line is people camping in Hollywood before the 7:45 cattle call. Usually around the corner or around Budget Rent-a-car. There will be a line of people. If a big group try to just rush the guard, then we'll all have to see what happens. If it were first come first serve with wristbands there would be no rush, but now that you've done a night before cattle call everyone thinks they have a shot now and the chaos will ensue. I think if you are going to have a set time that only requires a 13 hour sleepover then you better have a way to deal with the masses, raffle, lottery, random starting point, etc.. 40hours sleepover maybe you get 90-100 people at first and a slow trickle to fill up. 13 hour sleepover and you get 200 people cramming in with only 150 spots.

Which David are you talking about? I know of three of us David's I've been in the 70-80 range the last couple of releases which I actually went to, and then there's docfish who is an out of stater, and then there's the other david.

I do get it, ive done this before but if they have a rule on a time we are supposed to line up how hard is it to just go then. If I happen to be eating at DSF or getting a tattoo at the tattoo parlor next door and beat people running down the alley I dont wanna hear someone yelling at me saying they were there for the unofficial line and they are really ahead of me.

Edit: They will never listen to us when it comes to the raffle im a gambling man... why cant we do a lottery lol. Unless I win powerball tonight they you all can have your pins im going on vacation!

My point is the last few releases were pretty orderly. When they closed the lines due to the alley being full the people left and slowly trickled back in to form the unofficial line. I know, I've been in it 3 times now. They told us not to come back until 8am the next day but there is a line at 11pm in front of Budget rent-a-car everytime. I can see them closing the alley again when it's full which may not be a full 150 people. They've done it the last few releases that had overnighters. I garauntee you there will be people lined up well before 7:45pm and a ton of people try to rush in and swarm the guard it's gonna get ugly. This release is gonna be ugly anyways, too many presellers trying to protect their profits.

Well, they must loooove hanging out in parking lots for three days, ha! Ummm, have fun? Supposed to be 85 tomorrow. Good thing pavement doesn't reflect heat....oh wait....:)
 
Let em line up. Who cares? Once they realize people that come 24-48 hours later are getting same pins as them, then maybe they'll think twice about it next time. As long as the sane people stay sane, it doesn't matter. must be nice....not having to work....EVER!! Ha!
 
Ed has said he wanted to do a raffle/lottery. I say you do it this time. Everyone that is there at 7:45pm gets a number. If your number is called, you stay overnight and get them. No number called, 2nd chance line it or hop to WDI.

I'd be down with that plan. At least for big crazy releases....

There is a show at JK and thats the "line" they are referring to.
 
This is so disheartening to read. As a new pin trader who's never experienced a DSF pin release, the posts I'm reading are making me less and less excited. I can't sleep in an alley overnight, but it sounds like if I don't I won't be able to get ANY pins at all. Just so everyone knows, I will be there the morning of the release and hope for the best.

Well my faith in humanity is slightly restored...at least temporarily:).
 
New Rule: Never, EVER, post the number of people in line BEFORE the official line up time.

This is getting so rediculous and blown out of proportion. I'm thinking that I won't get them now, but I REFUSE to wait 30+ hours for a set of pins. Still going on Friday.
