Thank you!!!!!! Finally someone who sees this movie the way I do! I agree with everything.... From the not tangled look alike. To the fact that there is a lot of hype over the pins even though mostly all I see from these threads are a bunch of hate for this movie. Kind of senseless to me... And I agree BIG BIG time that I dislike all the bashing on a film that hasn't been released yet. From someone who is an art/illustrations major there was a LOT of hardwork and time put into making this. Creating ice and all those translucent surfaces are not easy, not for any medium. This movie is a lot of people painstaking work. Wait to judge.*deep breath*
I am going to defend this movie again. For the visual similarities, there are none. Anna, Elsa, Kristoph, and Hans all look drastically different from Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. In almost ever CG film, major characters have similar features (universally). 3D is still a "new medium" (when it comes to humans, for the most part). They are still learning how to make characters look drastically different from one another. Over time I think we will see shifts (for example, Dreamworks' "The Croods" had unique features for their characters, HOWEVER this worked because they were cavemen. The facial structures were very rugged and probably wouldn't flatter a princess or prince type character).
Not to mention the story is completely a polar opposite to Tangled.... Its a little early to judge a film that isn't even out yet anyways, in my opinion.
I think it has potential to knock Tangled out of the park. Brave may be flawed, but so is Tangled. No movie is perfect, and we shouldn't believe this one will be either. But I think it has a lot going for it right now. We have never really seen a sister dynamic, and I'm psyched for it. If Anna and Kristoph end up together, I don't really see it being the "main attraction" of the film. I think it would be revolutionary to have a movie centered around a relationship between two female family members. But as we have seen, that didn't go over well with the public for Brave. I suppose its just humorous to me; no one is ever happy. People want strong female characters, but when they are made, people are skeptical or diss the film, perhaps even before they have seen it. I don't know what to think about it anymore.
All I know is that I am expecting some gorgeous pins, and I will buy them for my collection because I am excited (if I can get my hands on any). I think hyping the pins when there is so much distaste for the movie seems bass ackwards. :dunno:
I hope this post doesn't offend anyone...I guess it just bothers me when people judge a movie to kingdom come before its out...people work very very hard to make these films, and it almost comes off as disrespectful.
somewhere near WIR which means it won't take off until after the DVD comes out and kids bug their parents forever and ever to buy them Frozen stuff. WIR was in a lull until the DVD came out. Brave was super hot and then died because the movie wasn't so hot. Tangled didn't really fly off the handle until we got pins like the Paris PTN, Marquee sold for $400 in 4/2012, the R/C Girl went insane and the PODM's came out 5/2012. Then everyone decided to start doing Tangled. DSF Tangled pins made it to the sale bin, just think about that.
So Frozen will spike at release, then die for a few months and values will come down, then spike again with the DVD release and kids wanting Frozen stuff. My stock tip is buy, hold, wait.
I don't care if prices for frozen pins never spike. Good! I'm completely in love with every aspect of this movie and happy if it never blows up like tangled did. I collect tangled but I started before the surge in popularity...so I luckily acquired harder pins early on. I collect brave love brave to death and could care less that other people don't like it. Makes it easier for me. I own all the pins except for that forever allusive elinor pendant. And I will collect frozen whether or not it becomes popular stays popular or everyone hates it. That's what seperated true collectors from pin collectors that do it for bragging rights cause they want to be able to say I own this popular/ expensive pin. Who cares? You like it collect it...you don't like it well okay saves you money right?
Yes! As a seasonal CM, we already spoke about this last year and agreed this will freeze the Tangled pins. I know one thing for sure, I am going to be a completist starting with my movie ticket souvenir pin.
And Amy, I'm right there with you, to buy these Tangled pins at cheaper prices.
Although I do think Frozen so far seems to be really pushing Olaf as a character and I don't think Olaf will be a big hit (as big as Pascal) because, don't get me wrong I think Olaf is pretty darn funny, but there is something hilarious about a character that can be so funny and not say one word (like Pascal).
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. :bowdown:My turn.
I've spent the better part of the year saying how I do not feel Tangled characters and Frozen characters seem alike in both appearance, personality and role. But to be completely honest, I didn't really take the time to watch Tangled enough to back this up. Tonight I did this. I took each of the 'matching characters,' and compared them on appearance, facial expressions, attitude, role, and even how they spoke and moved.
I looked for similarities and, while there are some, these characters are completely different. I've seen Frozen several times, and I've watched so many of the sequences on a daily basis that I know the Frozen ones very well. So watching Tangled for the first time in awhile, I just wanted to see if there were any times where I'm like: That is SO Anna!
There were none. Now I won't go into details - I'd like the movie to be publicly released.
As for pins, it's not really important. If you like the movie: collect the pins. If you do not like the movie: please don't collect the pins.
For the record, I love both Frozen and Tangled! Go movies with princesses and songs!
They are pushing Olaf in the trailers. That does not mean that he is going to be the star of the show. He has his own musical number and he is the comedic relief, but the lead roles are held by Anna and Elsa. The trailers are showing us the silly, fun side of the movie. They are trying to hide the seriousness from the American audience, so that they are surprised. If you watch the Japanese trailer you will see an entirely different side of the characters.
On a side note about the Japanese aspect: I feel bad for everyone hell bent on being a frozen completist... You guys will most likely be in for a huge let down. I see this movie being a big hit in Japan and that means very exclusive Japan pins. (ex. Japan on classic pins, on classic frame set, the rapunzel smiles pins....) just saying a lot of people IN Japan have a hard time getting hold of these pins...They are pushing Olaf in the trailers. I'm going to go watch it for the scenery and atmosphere which looks AMAZING. I'm not going to comment on the characters until I know more about their personalities. I'm not usually that bothered about the Princess movies... but the colour palette and backgrounds is what is really getting me interested in this movie.
I hope the songs are good too.
My turn.

Will there be songs? A part of me wants to hear them sing, but another part of me doesn't....
