Would you consider this PODM a Grail Scene?!!
Tell me!!! Hahaha I need to know!a pretty penny...... a real pretty penny is what it went for. lol
I'm not saying it's authentic or fake, But to use in talk or somebody's book from Chicago as the authority on a pins authenticity is beyond ridiculous!!!! Neither of these are or were involved in the pin making process therefore have no expert authority to say. E-rudolf is just another pin collector. thats all. The only way to get true authenticity is to go through Disney, otherwise anything said here is just pure speculation one way or the other. The question of this poll is: "Would you consider this PODM a Grail Scene?" What makes a grail a grail is in the sole perspective of the owner or buyer. In any movie there are scenes that connect with an audience that emote a feeling. Did Disney go out and take a poll of all our "feelings" on individual scenes? Of course not. My "grail" scene is not among what was put in to the Little Mermaid PODM pins.
Although some pin collectors would consider this scene a "grail" only because you haven't seen it...Ever. The Little Mermaid PODM came out nearly a year ago. And for all that time, if this scene was in existence someone surely would have posted a photo of the pin just for shear bragging rights. So lets take a look at the facts or for those who are baffeled by it's authenticity, the Evidence.
1. Check out the PODM Library of Scenes of all the separate film cels in all 24 pins on Pin Talk: http://www.pintalk.com/showthread.php?5236-The-PODM-Library
2. See the published book by. E Rudolph on PODM's coming out for sale in 2 weeks. This is a great reference for all PODM's. First sale of this book is at a Chicago pin trading event.
3. Still want that "Grail" scene, then go buy 100 of them on Ebay from Ebay seller Movie Film Cell for $49.99 and custom make any grail scene you want.
So, with just those facts, do you still consider this pin a grail now? Or is it just a cool film scene in a Little Mermaid pin frame?
Where's the soundtrack? It is on all of the PoDM pins with film frames in them. This really does look like a cel replacement.
This is why I think it looks like a replacement. In the scenes I have, the cel color extends all the way to the left before the purple starts. Also, the areas on the right are cut out on all of them (if that makes sense, I have no idea how to explain that lol!).
Whether it's a replacement or not, it is very cool. Perhaps even more so if it is a replacement. It's something I really would like to attempt someday.

Yep, that's the scene I'll be framing with my others. I sprained my right wrist, and left elbow the night before the release, so I was going to make sure I got a scene I really wanted! :lol:is that your scene? If so, congrats! It's one of my grail scenes!
anyways.. Back on topic! Lol
Dang Laney! You made some great observations! I never would've noticed all of that lol.
I have done a bit of research and found a company that can reproduce a digital image onto a film... Of course there would be differences such as the Audio tracks and such...
If this were able to be changed out and have the dream scene of your choice placed in the frame instead, would you still want it even if it's not original??? We can all think of a scene of our favorite released PoDMs that we would have loved to see made, what if you could sacrifice a poor scene for a grail one, does the pin become worthless or a dream to own???
