alright you guys, hope you all doing great. so i have a few offers pending and i am normally real good at making a decision, but i just wanted to get some of you guys' point of view and opinions on these possible trades. 🙂

alright, they are asking Pin 80294 from me and offering Pin 83222.

another one is:

they are asking of me Pin 81719 and they are offering Pin 85993 and Pin 85997 or just Pin 85996 by itself.

another one is:

they are asking for Pin 30830 and they are offering Pin 48735(which i saw in person and it is not very "appealing")

last one is:

they are asking for Pin 79972 and they offering Pin 40773, Pin 49651 and Pin 62264.


now i am aware that your way of trading it is different(or it can be very similar who knows) to mine but i really really want to know some of you guys opinions on your personal perspectives of how do u guys see these possible trades.

here is a little note i will like to add, some of these(like the classic D dumbo and the Ariel with the Purse) are not for my collection, they will be traders, so will i be losing if i agree to trade my pins for these that i don't need or you guys think what i am getting will trade good(like, will the dumbo classic D trade good or should i stay with the Mickey 10/10/10). 🙂

i really don't work much with how much a pin sell for, i really look at how much i payed for it and the original price, and if it is a very highly wanted lower LE i multiple the original price times 2 or 3 depending how many people are trading the pin and how many people want the pin, i also look at the originality of the pin, so that is why i need some help because i have no idea how original is the ariel with purse and the dumbo and if i trade for them, will i be stuck with them or u guys think there will be people wanting them(like not wanting them in a year but like now).

Bottom line is... How do YOU feel about them? I have to admit that I weigh the trading vs wanting ratios pretty heavily when I'm considering trades like the ones you are listing... Less so when it's something I really, really want.

Well, I know my perception of value is not the same as a lot of others. For the most part, a pin lingering in my pin bag does me no good, so I want to move them along. Like a store clearing out inventory. I just don't want to trade a pin I paid $12 for, for something I could find in a pin sale for $3 or $6. Even if my pin is no longer worth $12, maybe there is another $12 pin that is no longer worth that much I can trade it for instead.

The first is something I would definitely do. I think the Dumbo Classic D is the better pin, actually. Of all the monthly series, the parks have done over the years, I think the Classic D's are one of the best.

2nd one, also I would definitely do. The Ariel is on Ebay right now with a BIN of $85. I think we all know that the Rapunzel or 2 Designer Princesses would be more than that.

3rd one, I personally find Jumbos more appealing than most DA 100 pins, so this is not something I would do

4th one, is the hardest. I won't even know where to begin to value a LE 25. It would probably be more a question of did I want those DA 100 pins and do I have a relationship with the person I am trading to. I might do it for a friend; especially if they have helped me over the years. I have one friend, that has done so much for me that I would just give her a LE 25 in her character. I'm not sure she would accept it though. An acquaintance or a stranger...I think I would need to want the pins I was receiving. 2 DA 100's, including a Gomes is offering significant value, so even if the LE25 was worth more on Ebay, if I really wanted the pins I would do it. Since one would be a trader, I am leaning toward no here.

i know other people's opinions shouldn't matter as much, but come on hopemax, u took the time to write all this and i agree with you on a lot of things, so u definably helped me big time. 🙂

and yeah the pin 30830 it really it an gorgeous pin, i mean not only because i love lion king, but to me it is one of the best pins out there(looking at it;s weight, originality, and mainly how detail it is). plus it is huge and yet so detail. 🙂

I'd definitely trade the Jumbo Ariel for Rapunzel Designer. After only a month, the Rapunzel skyrocketed in value and is now selling at about the same price as the original set ($190). Now that most of the 150 pins are in people's collections, there are very few on the market anymore. I'd like to think a year from now it might be worth a little more. However, the PTN pin has kinda lingered at the same price now and at LE 400 there are still plenty out there in retailers hands.

I also wanted to say, in regards to 30830, that sometimes I have turned down trades, not because the value was unfair, but I thought the current value of one of the pins was low for how nice the pin was. Sometimes there are those pins that you just know are awesome, but they aren't the hot thing at the moment. You don't mind holding onto them waiting to be discovered. I cringe every time I see someone ask about

I bought mine on a cruise at the end of Jan 2003. It had been available for over 2 months, and was just languishing on the rack; they had many. I bought my one, wondered if I should buy any extra. But I figured if all those DCL Event attendees thought it wasn't worth stocking up on, why should I? Plus, DH and I were young and didn't have much extra money. It took quite awhile to be wanted though. I stopped being involved in trading, shortly after that when we unexpectedly moved from WA to AZ. But if I had, I would have come to DPF with them for trade. That would have been good for everyone involved. 🙂

You are probably pretty right there. That's a pin that I don't want to admit we want, we haven't dared thought about actually trying to trade for it- We're going after the LE25 Tiana because she's less popular. I think the Gomes is good on her, but that it needs a little extra UMP for it, like maybe the Beloved tales Mermaid or some other high end and VERY wanted pin!
