SPOILER WARNING! Wreck-It Ralph Pin discussion HUGE MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!
I just got back from the movie. I agree that Paperman might be one of the best shorts ever made. I enjoyed Wreck-It Ralph although I think the first act of the movie goes by too fast. We don't really get to see much of Ralph's game or Game Central Station before Ralph leaves his game. It would have been nice to get to know the characters better, show why Ralph wanted a medal so badly, and get a better understanding of how the game world worked similar to how there is quite of bit that goes on in Toy Story before Buzz arrived and the central storyline began. The movie does build steam though and the ending is surprisingly emotional. This is only the second time I've ever experienced the audience all go "aww" at the same time (when Ralph talks about the best part of his day). I saw a late showing with nearly no children in the audience, but everyone was very into the movie. The design for the Sugar Rush world is so cute that it makes me want to collect Sugar Rush.
I love Paperman as well! I usually like Disney shorts but this one is one of my favorites! I love the style, the flow, and the music. It was perfect! I wish they had pins of that
I'm not sure what you mean since the entire beginning of the movie basically shows why Ralph wants the medal. It showed that he was always treated as the bad guy even though he's just programed it to be like that. He was forced to live out with the other piles of junk and even though he never hurt or was mean to anyone, the tenants were always fearful, hateful, and aloof in his presence. That's why he wanted to get the medal. It was his one way ticket to what he thought would be a better life. I thought that there was a good amount of time spent on that.
I agree with you that I wanted to see more of Game Central but at the same time I can understand why. As of now, it's just a passageway between games kind of like the main subway stop. To the game characters, it's not that big of a deal while to us we want to know more. That's why hopefully they'll shed more light in the sequel since the director already revealed that he ideas for the 2nd WIR.
