It's actually a Piece of Disneyland History (PODH), not a Piece of Disney Movies (PODM).

From my experience Piece of Disney History pins rarely sell out. Yes Ariel is definitely popular but considering it's not a film piece I'm pretty sure I'll go in the morning and I may be safe.

I think most people did assume it would sell out this weekend, but as for having to get there early to get in line last night or pre-dawn this morning, there were less than 25 people that got wristbands before 8am.
