HELP! Feeling excessive :(
I've wanted to collect every princesses but I narrowed it down to my favorite princesses. My main collection is Snow White, while she is not my favorite princess (Ariel/Rapunzel are), she has my favorite pins. Snow White is one of my favorite movies and I find the Snow White pins to be more beautiful than the other princesses. I am having Rapunzel/Tangled pins being my second collection. I am only collecting the Tangled and Snow White pins I want. If the pin is over $100, I just don't plan on ever owning it. Most of the LE Rapunzel pins will never be in my collection. Very few Snow White pins I like end up being over $100, which is another reason I collect her. I have pins on 2 corkboards and neither of them are full. My one corkboard is for my Snow White collection because its my main collection. My other corkboard has the sun from Tangled panted on which is where I put my Tangled pins. My other princess/misc pins are on the purple background.

I generally do not feel guilty about owning so many pins but I do wonder where I will put them. Once the background on my Tangled corkboard is full, I will only focus on Rapunzel and Snow pins I want to collect. Once I start a third corkboard then I might start collecting other pins again.

Follow your heart & keep the pins you treasure. Bryana. You work hard & deserve your collection. I've been collecting since 1999, and when under stress, going thru my keeper books is very soothing. :)

How do you store them?

Ive got shadow boxes, two large pin bags, one small pin bag, 8 clear plastic boxes, 2 leather look boxes, a box full of boxed pins and two shoe boxes. hehe I put them in anything I can!!

Omgosh, you people have so many pins! How long have you been collecting, a decade? Geez!

Yer OK I'm old!! LOL Ive been collecting for seventeen years, so a mere 600 pins, I'd say Ive been very conservative! Just sticking to Pinocchio in the early years really saved me from spending too much, but now I collect anything that appeals to me, there's nothing stopping me!! Help!

Lol! You guys are so funny! I only have about 100 pins total, about 60 in my collection and 40-ish in my traders!! I can only dream of having that many pins someday. For now I'm just trying to fill my trade book and cork board!

I feel your pain. I just starting collecting in March of 2010. I currently have 751 on my owns list, 238 on my trades list, and 157 on my wants list. I started out collecting Mickey by himself, Minnie by herself, Mickey & Minnie together and Mickey icons. Then I added a few here and there of ones I just liked! I felt overwhelmed as well, so I totally cut out Mickey and Minnie together. I don't collect pins with backgrounds, dates, words, etc, just the "cut-out" versions of M&M. I also love the ones where they are dressed up. That helped, cuz I was able to move a number of them to my trades list.

I drool quite a bit over the Beloved Tales pins and the PODM pins, but I'm glad I didn't start them! I work for my church, so needless to say, I don't make a lot of money! :) But the benefits are heavenly!

If you truly feel like it's out of control, consider cutting out one of your collections. Maybe you'd like to only collect Mickey and Minnie together, dressed up along with stitch pins that you really, really like. Eliminating a collection (or two) would also help to build up your traders so you can get the pins you really want.

Or say the heck with it and just collect whatever you want!!! There's no judging here, and obviously, many of us are way, way worse than you! You have a long way to go before you are truly out of control. Like... if you have to declare bankruptcy due to buying pins, then maybe you might have a problem... but even then... no judgments here!

It's funny but I'm feeling excessive as well and I only have a little over 100 pins total. I wonder if this is more of a feeling that newbies have... I feel guilty for spending money on pins. :/ :(

I can't stand to keep mine in books. If they're in books then I can't SEE them!!! So all the ones that I got because I loved them-- even the ones I'm willing to trade if it's for something I want more-- are up on lanyards or display boards. (I use Coroplast cut into shapes and covered with fabric.) I recently made a new one shaped like Diablo for my crow/raven pins. Also I have a shadowbox from the amazing Lost-Sun-Princess for a set that was of special sentimental value to me. I like to have my pins where I'll see them any time I happen to walk by or look up from my desk.

The only ones that live in books are the ones I got *just* for trading. Of course, this did lead to me wishing I'd had more traders with me at DLR this weekend, because I got lazy and didn't take down many from the boards to bring to the park!

I collect a lot of themes. I'm starting to cut down my Wonderland and Cinderella collections to the more interesting and unique ones, because the boards are full! Also Tiana may need her own board soon...

We all would love to see some pics!! Especially of your shaped displays!

Me too im in the same boat with ya.

Got room in that boat for another? I've got 57ish pins, and two to trade. I wanted a collection that doesn't take up much room (my AG dolls and accessories take up A LOT of space)

And to think I thought I was a big money baller at WDW a few years ago with my first lanyard full of brand spanking new pins that I had no interest in trading. I just thought they were cool pins. And since I refuse to buy lots off eBay since I don't want fakes or scrapers for trading, I don't see this collection getting to gargantuan proportions. But there are so many I want.... Stitch, Jessica, Malificent, Bad Guys in general, and a few others, I must keep my head on. Or find a buddy near DSF who can get me the pins I want from there....

I've kept a running thread since June here, although I just realized Flickr broke the photos and I need to go edit and fix it. (Basically they had some goof up with the privacy on a few people's pics, so to "fix" it they set EVERYONE'S pics to "private"! And just changing the setting isn't enough, because it generates a new unique link, so I have to edit the post with all the updated links.

It needs to be updated with new photos anyway. I'll go do that as soon as I can today.

Look at my lists, they'll make you feel better.

over a decade for me actually  We have thousands of pins and are taking over a thousand to Disneyland with us to trade.

I met a man on a DCL cruise with several boxes of traders...he must have had to book a suite to fit them in his cabin!

....I've been collecting for less than a year and somehow I already have 500+ in my collection and 500+ traders...seriously out of control...
