oh my those bts look even better in the photo....thanks for the photo nathan......i need these pins!!!!! yes, it reminds me of the dollmageddon a couple years back....crazy.

I thought the rule was 7:45. 7 was not by the rules either.

Ok people please pay attention: 7:45 was the time of the movie, NOT the time to line up. The original rule was that no line could form until the people seeing the 7:45 movie showing were let into El Capitan. Movie lines are admitted anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes before the movie is to start.

That's why folks came to line up before the 7:45 movie time.

So are we all clear now? Great! I return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Both lines took a chance and there were some winners and losers on both sides. I don't place blame on either line, as DSF was so wishy washy on this whole deal.

What really got people is the opinion that DSF knew they were going to have this end strategy and didn't tell anyone in Line 1. Why not tell people who were waiting 3 days that they were changing to a mob and it was pointless to continue waiting in that line. People might think that they were being taught a lesson and penalized for waiting so long. It wasn't a nice way to treat their customers at all.

Maybe everyone in that line was cheating. No more than that second line was cheating. DSF failed to clarify their intentions and created an opportunity for bickering and resentment, by not taking command of the situation earlier.

The saddest part is that friends were pitted against each other and pins became much more important than friendships. People exchanged mocking unpleasantries that were completely uncalled for. It truly was the nastiest and appalling example of greed I have yet to witness.

A lottery system would be the way to go in my opinion. :)
I didn't go to the release and glad I didn't. I would not want to be part of that! However I did want those pins. ;)

A lottery system would be good. It prevents people from camping out because you have the same chance of getting the wristband/pin regardless of the time you get there. DSF could also put it online and have a random generator pick. That way the only line will be the morning of the release. It would prevent the nonsense that was this release.

I see what your saying there. But I really do think Disney handled it about the only way they could. Personally, I do like that Disney did not give advanced warning it was changing it to one set per person. In my mind it minimized the amount of people who otherwise would bring friends, family, strangers, etc. to get more sets for them. This way more people who truly wanted the sets had a chance to get them.

Did this mess up a lot of presells and pretrades? Yup. But folks know what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch. I've always been an advocate of wait until something's in your hands before you trade or sell it. Now there's nothing wrong with trying to help out friends in acquiring pins but people should wait until they have them before promising them to anyone.

As far as the bad behavior goes, that's purely on the pin trading community, which I am a part of. This is not he first time something like this has happened. It won't be the last. While there are so many truly great people in this hobby, there are far more people who either are in this as a business or a social status. By that I mean there are those who's self worth is tied up in which pins they own and that they can obtain for themselves (and sometimes their close circle of fellow pin traders). It's these situations that expose that in them.

It's unfortunate any of this happened. There's always repercussions after something like this. We'll see what those are as time goes on.

By the way, Lamorak, my comments are not directed at you or anyone in particular. Just a general observation from a long time pin trader veteran.

SOOO glad i don't collect any of those.... #can'tbebothered

BUT(insert shameless plug here) if you do want pins you WOULD want to be bothered with check out my auction of the DESIGNER URSULA PIN LOL

No worries. I am keeping it neutral and trying not to throw pooh at any specific group other than DSF. I'm not taking any offense to anyone making well thought out discussion. :)

I have simply chosen to not spend my money at DSF anymore. It's my personal protest for what went down. A mere drop in the ocean.

Poor Pooh has taken such a beating for this release!

In all seriousness tho I am so sorry for everyone who had a bad experience during this release. I'm an out of towner and so clearly I don't know the half of what it was like, and I have only been able to partially keep up with this thread. I so wanted the Enchanted beloved tales pin, but as the release got nearer I realized I didn't have the funds or emotional stamina that this release was going to call for. And now after seeing what went down, I'm glad I wrote her off in my mind. :eek2:

and the pin that everyone was after the most, Enchanted, didnt even make it to the release......

Awwwwwwww

Hah, I called that back on Tues or something... They new it was coming in late and weren't sure if it'd be there on time (they hoped it would have tho, and could have showed up this morning, but apparently not). (I have a post about _somewhere_ in this thread.)

I was thinking the pin wouldn't show and they'd just cancel the release until later (announcing that before anyone lines up 'officially', like yesterday at 6pm or something... :) )

Officially boycotting eBay for these pins and not paying eBay prices here for them either. Unless "we" all hold onto our wallets this type of thing will keep going on. Honestly think about the number of members here, the number of pins available who do you think is buying them? Not a coincidence that they aren't selling today, once again people just so sick of the greed they are finally saying no.

this.... I give up trying to get these pins. My peep may have a chance through a friend, but if not, I'm not bothering anymore. They are made for CA people and there they should stay or whomever they feel like sharing/selling too.

I know how they could fix the people lining up. Release nothing but hercules, no one would want them and therefore no one would line up. Then the 6-10 Hercules collectors could just waltz in whenever xD

In all seriousness this sounds like a really scary release I am sorry for everyone that qued in whatever line and did not get the pin and I hope that eventually everyone is able to attain the pins.

DSF did try to make everyone happy, but obviously not everyone will be happy with the decision they make. Hopefully DSF staff will come up with a fairer and safer method. Let's try to be optimistic here! Thank you DSF for producing wonderful pins as always :)

There have far worse releases at DLR with everyone lined up at the ropes and making a mad dash to get over to LGM even when it was a wristband release (wristbands only provided you with a buying opportunity and not line order)
