I have to VENT!!Kinda Discussion though
I sent Donna a parcel once and it had no postage on so she had to pay.

I was so frustrated because I take ALL of my parcels to the counter to pay and they put the postage on. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS, I ALWAYS GO TO THE COUNTER, NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL THE PARCEL.

Sometimes the postage thing is an error, I offered to refund Donna but she said that she was just happy to get the pin.

Regards,

Martin :)

I am going to put this out there because once in awhile I do this: I like to recycle my packaging materials. I save good bubble wrap and re-use it, and when I don't have time to go to the store, I'll re-use a padded envelope. Of course, I only re-use anything that is in very good condition, but I do re-use these things. Sometimes I don't have time to pick up some more at the store. I always send in a padded envelope and try to bubble wrap each pin individually. It's not a hard thing to do.

Hope my head isn't bitten off for recylcing (or is it reusing? or is it both?)! At least it keeps out .15 lbs. of plastic out of the trash!

Hey, I recycle my envelopes. If you are careful opening them, you can reuse them. It's better for the environment and I for one applaud you!:bigthumb:

And I recycle bubble wrap. But I would never send a pin without padding.

Now I don't want to steer this thread off this mailing topic, but to me, receiving a pin without proper protection/padding makes me cringe as much as walking up to someone in the park to trade with them, and they take out their sandwich bag of pins. Each of those little guys is rubbing up on the others, scratching and poking their polished surfaces! If I take care of the pins I want to trade, be that in person or through the mail, I expect to get a pin in good condition. I take care of my traders because I know nobody will want them if they're all banged up and beaten.

I agree 100%!!! Last thing I'd ever want is a return!! Haha
We definately look the other way when we see ziplock bags and hear all the pins rattling inside like shake n bake.

i just got my first trade with tiggermickey she is an excellent packer.she goes above and beyond to insure your treasure comes in pristine condition.we should all take a hint from her book when it comes to packaging.i for one appreciated it.

I've had people ship me pins in paper towels before. I don't mind as long as it really padded the pin but what makes me mad is if I buy from someone and pay high shipping charges to get it that way.

I once bought a high end pin off eBay and got it mailed to me wrapped in a dirty rag. I don't know if I still have pictures of it; I was so shocked and grossed out that I had to take a picture with my phone.

Hi all, speaking as a Letter Carrier, you would not belive some of the things people try to mail. Try delivering a glass picture frame mailed in a plain manilla wrapper, and have the customer yell at you because the glass is broken! We do care, we don't like delivering damaged goods anymore than you like getting them. About the postage due, mailing rates are moving towards what can be sorted by machine, and what has to be manually sorted. Also, I have seen a large increase in postage due on small bubble mailings. Part of this is because if you put delivery confirmation, and first class postage on an envelope that is not a specific thickness, it must be sent priority mail, instead of first class. I just love explaining this to people ten times a day. Anyway, this is relatively new, and all I can suggest is to talk to a window clerk once, and get the low-down on the rates. Thanks

Ugh, just got in 7 pins which were all in very thin/worn tiny jewelry bags and tossed into the smallest envelope you can buy. No bubble or protection at all. LUCKILY they were not broken but I just could not understand why somebody thought that was a good idea to just toss them all in the envelope together like that. :-S

I really hope that people don't mind me reusing bubble envelopes... They are close to $1/ea here & it adds up quickly. And bubble wrap??? Hugely expensive so I reuse that as well. One thing I've been doing lately is cutting up bubble envelopes that have pretty much reached the end of their life & using it in place of bubble wrap. I have a hard time NOT reusing it all considering how many we all send out. I even cut down the really large bubble envelopes used to send documents that I receive @ work for mailing pins.

Sending me a pin? Please feel free to reuse bubble wrap & bubble envelope! Just please use them. :)

There is absolutely no reason not to protect your pins when you mail them. I can only think that those that do not protect their pins in shipment only care about money and not pins. As far as bubble wrap goes.... you didn't hear it from me but the USPS offers FREE bubble flat rate mailers you can order. If nothing else get those and cut them up to use as bubble wrap! The tip on Paper Mart bubble mailers was great as I have bought mine on Ebay for years and their price is better than what we have spent. We have a bunch of plastic envelops right now we are using but next time we find ourselves in need we will go there. Maybe in the tutorial it would be good to mention a good place to get these supplies at a low price for those that have to watch their pennies as well. I feel there should always be protection between pins. Naked pins should not be mailed period! Unlike some of the posts here though, I am alright with paper towels being used. As long as the pins are protected, that is the main thing!

Feel free to reuse LBE's! It is good for the environment! All that matters is that they are in good condition. They do not have to be new. If they start to get a little bit worse for ware use them for bubble wrap as well.

if this a thread to vent them heres mine -

I got offered a pin that the person didnt think they had spare...I waited and they said couldnt find it and they look again...over a week later still no email..so I traded the pin they wanted away, I messaged them to let them know and they replied and said they just found the pin they initially offered and they were -

*Lost for words because I traded away the pin they wanted*

I replied and told them I waited over a week and I got another offer and I took it so its not my fault..I tried to salvage the trade for the 2 pins I wanted and offered her 6 pins ( 2 PTN, 1 PTE, and 3 LE pins) and they said they dont want traders..they were on their wants list -_- (by this point I was getting annoyed) so I said if my partner wanted to trade his PTN pin (as we attended the PTN) that he might trade it and it depends what you offer...

They offered me 3 pins off my wants plus 1 not even on there because I dont want it..

I counter offered as the 2 I initially wanted (as they were the only 2 on their trades list) only 1 was offered to me...

I offered 3 PTN, 1 PTE, 3 LE pins for their 4 pins but I dont see them accepting that but when Im using one pin from my collection plus the rest.....

EUGH! rant over but this person got to me today!

I received a regular size letter envelope with two pins in there. No protection, nothing. The very end of the envelope was open and I am still trying to figure out who I got them from. I think I purchased them, but I know I did not purchase only two pins from someone, so I am thinking some fell out.

(I am a little unorganzied so that is why I have to look and find out who I got them from. I had a leak in my pin room and needed to move everything out to fix the roof and ceiling.)

Seriously, a regular letter size envelope with no bubble wrap. ARGH

I can't count the number of pins I have received in regular envelopes and postage due on others lately. I can't believe people think they can mail for 80 cents. Sounds like some of you are also experiencing this. I also have been scammed lately (not receiving trade by 6 people in the last 2 months). Boo
OMG i cant believe that people actually steal pins. I am sorry but there should be some kind of blacklist of these people. Of course after all that can be done has been done to ensure the completed trade. But we are a community here and sounds like we need a community watch or something. And when i hear people stealing pins from others or shipping without care i get upset, and want to know who they are so that the same doesn't happen to me or anyone else.

The last time I heard of that many pins not received in that short of time the lady found out they were being stolen from her mailbox.

I have now received two of the 6 missing trades. One they said they forgot to send from our trade in February but did not say why they did not reply to emails. The second Pinpics helped me get the pin. Just received it a couple of days ago and this person is still trading. Thank you to Pinpics!!!!!

Now I am down to 4 missing. Two I will not receive as I found out they are the same person and no longer trading under those two IDs. Another is also no longer on Pinpics. Looks like three are a no show for sure now. That just leaves one outstanding.

Oh by the way....I have a locking mailbox so it would be hard to steal anything out of unless they have Super Powers! LOL You never know...

Thought I would revive this thread. My parents called me at work to let me know they had picked up a package for me at the post office and it came postage due! I didn't ask about the condition of the package but was told there were only two (2) first class forever stamps on it!
