Hello Disney Pin forum world!

I recently bought a season pass for Disneyland park in Anaheim. I have been going regularly with my family, maybe every other week. I didn't know about this whole disney pin craze until recently. I'm very interested in starting a collection. I know the dates that they release the pins, but don't know how the process works. A friend of mine told me we need to line up early in the morning at downtown disney to get a wristband and then we can purchase the pins inside the park. Is this completely true? Or does it just apply to limited edition pins? Any help would be great thank you!
 
Welcome! :) I don't live near the parks in the US so can't help with any information, I think the line ups are only for limited edition pin releases, but hope someone else can help you with an answer :)
 
How do you do and welcome to DPF. It is really good to see you here.

There could be other instances, but usually it is only for the really highly desirable LE pins that people start lining up for before the stores even open. The nice thing about DPF is that with all the pin traders and collectors here, it helps you to kind of get a better understanding for which pins are the most popular and the most wanted. Anyway I wish you the best on your pin quests and I hope you and family have a great time hanging out at DL.
 
thank you splash! I ended just going to the store next to the buzz lightyear ride and getting a pin I wanted. It was a fathers day pin that released yesterday. I wanted to get a mothers day pin for my girlfriend a couple weeks back but it was all sold out by the time mothers day came along.
 
That's so cool! I have no idea where cool limited edition pins come from, either.... Maybe if you learn the ropes by the time my boyfriend and I get season tickets and can come down on weekends (we're nor-cal-ers) you can help US! Glad you found a pin you were looking for though :) Happy pin collecting!
 
Welcome. Not all pins are wristband release pins. Just the ones they think will be CRAZY! Basically, go to ODPT.com (it will re-direct you to the correct site) and then click on the pin you are interested in. The website will tell you whether it is a wristband release

I guess those monsters university opening day pins sold out quick! I couldn't find any yesterday at the disneyland resort

Welcome Tormentor! I'm new to DPF and just starting my collection as well. I saw the Monsters INC pin on Sunday the week it was released. Had fast passes to Star Tours and decided to come back 20 minutes later to buy it. You can probably guessed what happened. :down:

Maybe you, bearcat, and myself can figure it out together.

wow 20 min later and sold out? I checked out 3 major locations in the park and they all said sold out. They told me to check the pin location at downtown disney but I didn't even try. I would think it would sell out there first.
 
I think the big store (World of Disney) in DTD or the store in New Orleans are your best best to try after a release has already happened.
