Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Jumping a little ahead hear but I wonder if Disney would increase the edition size for LE Maleficent? It's been said that Ursula is an edition size of 2000. Gothel and Tremaine were both 1500, with Gothel, despite being pretty popular, was the first LE villain doll so they probably were testing the waters with her. And Tremaine isn't one of the more popular villains. But being that Ursula is quite popular they have increased the edition size for her.

Maleficent is the most popular villain, similarly to how Ariel is the most popular princess. They increased the LE princess for her popularity so I wonder if they will do the same for Maleficent? Like maybe an LE of 3000 or 4000?
 
Don't forget the Queen of hearts whilst she is not movie accurate she was technically the first villain.

But yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they released Maleficent as a LE of around 2000-2500 especially with movie coming out next year as well. I don't believe that Disney would want to deter attention away from Aurora either so it would be interesting to see how they would market the dolls next year.

Oh wait yes you are right she was released after Gothel, apologies about that, for some reason I was thinking she was released in 2009. But yeah you did miss her out in your list of villains.

I hope Maleficent is at least LE2000 :) I was surprised they broke the trend this year by upping both Ariel and Ursula's edition sizes, but now that they have, I can see them doing it again. I wouldn't be surprised if they raised Maleficent from 1500 to 2000, but I honestly can't see them upping Aurora by 1000 because unfortunately she's not as popular as Ariel (at least in the US). I'm going to go SO broke next fall! So excited for Aurora's turn!
 
Ursula 17"

Here are some closer views. Ursula is definitely wearing a dress of some sort, and what looks like a corset. You can also see her neck and arms are moveable, and it appears the necklace is separate - the shell looks like the designer doll one? Also the doll inside the box has earrings while the doll outside doesn't. Looks like Eric definitely has rooted hair. Also note the box labels do say Disney Store.

If they up Maleficent's edition size...then I won't feel so bad buying multiples. ;)
Seriously, I want one to keep in box, one to unbox and see/display all its glory, and then possibly one more so that I can have one in my room with the rest of my collection and one in my living room. ;)

Kinda disappointed in the 17" Ursula.... Still think my 90's Mattel one is true perfection!!! The whole dress thing going on with this one is a bit of a turn off....like a weird mix between the animated version and Broadway. But then I guess last years Designer one looks MOSTLY like the stage version....anyway, I would like Eric!
 
Hello all! I'm new and have a question. I preordered the Ariel doll. I have an opportunity to see Jodi Benson coming up this year and was wondering if having her sign the box (if it can fit!) would increase or decrease the value of the doll.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, I would give you all my money for it. Maybe it's because I love Ariel, which makes me love Jodi Benson, so I'd pay some crazy amount for a LE Ariel doll signed by Jodi Benson.
 
I thought there was going to be a Limited Edition 17" Jasmine doll next year but it seems to be Aurora now instead or will there be both?

It will probably just be Aurora. Poor Jasmine just keeps getting pushed aside. Last year was the 20th anniversary of Aladdin and Disney did nothing. This year Aladdin was supposed to have its diamond edition release, but they replaced it with Peter Pan because it was its 60th anniversary. They said Aladdin would be released at a later date, which I hoped would have been next year, but it looks like Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book are coming out next year.

So they might wait until they eventually release the diamond edition of Aladdin to do a LE 17" Jasmine doll.
 
The Ursula doll looks like the actress Monique. The doll looks so stiff! I hope shes better in person But of course ill buy her just because shes Ursula.

What? Where?? I'm sorry I would die I have anything signed by her I love Jodi benson so much. It would definitely increase the value of the doll! My doll would be my most prized possession if she were signed by her!!
 
I keep hearing mentions about the jungle book been released next year,in the Uk the jungle book has just been released.And Aladdin was already released here, so it's probably safe to safe we might get sleeping beauty this year in the Uk? I wonder why they have been releasing them here first.

Are the blurays that you mentioned that came out diamond editions? Because Aladdin has come out here in Aus but was never a diamond edition. Also there a different release dates for the blurays between the US and UK, the only ones that appear to have a similar worldwide release are the disney princess ones that they generally release around October. Also i dont beleive the UK has the diamond edition Little mermaid released yet and i wouldn't be surprised if that comes out in Oct as well, similar to the US. So I doubt the Sleeping Beauty blu ray will be released in the UK this year. It will more than likely be the same as the US so not until Oct next year.
 
Im not sure if Aladdin is diamond addition but its blueray, think it came out earlier this year, the disney store had Aladdin shopper bags and more merchandise around march time. And at the minute you can get jungle book shopper bags and the jungle book blueray just got released. Yes the little mermaid is coming in October here, I don't no why Aladdin got a release then, I thought they would have had a jasmine doll! I think an Aladdin trilogy was released too. Does anyone know what the difference between the diamond edition & royal edition of cinderella are!

and back to the dolls, I'm dying to see a close up of ursulas face, her makeup look interesting .

I love Jodi Benson, and I love this doll.. but in this case for me personally I would not want the doll or the box signed. This is of course just me. the only reason why I say that is because I tend to be a stickler for having things look nice and presentable, signatures are for posters.. art and other things of the sort that could easily be hung on the wall to be displayed. If you were talking about the original poster for the movie I'd be on it in a moment. But even though its an Ariel doll and she voiced Ariel.. in my mind they have nothing to do with one another. That is just my thought process, however as other posters have said they would love it, so I'm just coming at it from another prospective.
 
I think it would increase or stay the same but deffo not decrease! If you were to sell I'm sure those that didn't want it signed just wouldn't buy it, but those who go for signed items would pay more for it. I personally think it would be great to get signed and would make the doll extra special. Congrats on getting to meet Jodi btw x

Interesting. I always thought Aladdin Blu-Ray was pushed back to next year because it will open on Broadway in 2014?

It's a possibility. Disney should milk this as much as they can. This might be their most famous movie and its a huge cash cow.
 
I think this is how it is going to play out:
From now until October 1st: Ursula and Eric release. One will probably be a "surprise". I don't think we were supposed to know about Eric.
November 27th: Anna from "Frozen"
Whenever the Frozen DVD comes out: Elsa from "Frozen"
OR Anna and Elsa will both be released on the 27th. I would also entertain the idea of a Kristoph, now that Eric has a release.
Spring of 2014: Jasmine and accompanying doll. I don't think they are ever going to do a one-doll release ever again. Will it be Aladdin, or Jafar (please Lord yes)? I think Jasmine is the next release because she is the last of the "mainstream princesses" that have not seen a doll. I think her Diamond Edition is going to be a surprise to everyone, to be honest!
Fall of 2014: Aurora and Maleficent, to tie in to the Diamond edition and the Maleficent live-action film.

After this, I think the door will be open to make characters we have skipped out on; Pocahontas, Mulan, perhaps Wendy and Peter Pan, Jessica Rabbit, Tink, etc. After all of the old princesses have been made, all they will have left is new princesses or old miscellaneous characters. I think after time, if they want to keep this crazy production streak, we may get to see characters like Megara or Esmeralda yet!!
