2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
Mulan doesn't die in the poem... She comes home and lives her life. Also, Pocahontas NEVER falls for John Smith. She was all of 10 when she would have met him. He would have been in his 30s. You also cannot even claim she loved John Rolfe. That marriage was political. Also, Disney never could have made a movie based on Pocahontas' actual life. She was a prisoner of the British and ended up dying in England because of a disease. There is no romance in her interactions with the British. They mistreat her.
I was referring to somebody else's post about Mulan dying, I have no idea what her original story is about. I also only said that in Pocahontas they suggest love. My very innocent little girls believe that just kissing is only done with your true love. Looking at all of the discussion the ethnicity topic has prompted on this forum it's easy to understand why Disney may be hesitant to promote ethnic movies. Nobody argues the truth or fiction of Rapunzel's magic hair for example. Maybe Disney should just stick to fairytales. We should get back to talking about the doll releases!

Unpopular opinion, but I would love to have the other princesses.I would definitely buy Cinderella, Aurora, Tiana and Pocahontas (but only if she is with Smith ofcourse...). If they replaced Mulan with Anna or Elsa, I'd buy the whole set.

I'm with you! My favorite Princesses are Pocahontas, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Cinderella! I'm so happy I got Rapunzel, but I'd love to get my other favorite ladies, too! And I think that Naveen and John certainly have enough strengths to be standing beside their girls.

For those who missed out on the 2011 dolls and were curious as to what happened...Dollmageddon day in 2011.... The last 5 dolls were released all at once (Rap,Aur,Poc,Jas,& Tiana). That was a Disney change of plans due to the Snow White release. And if I recall...they were being released one a week, but after Snow they put the whole thing on hold for almost a month while they figured out how to handle the crowds at the store and web issues. When they did announce online when the big release would be ....the online release was set for noon (not midnight PST). The time of day, the 5 dolls, the eBay frenzy...all made the site hard to get into for about 3 hours. And if you got in....it was slllloooowwwww. I sat at my desk from noon - 3pm trying...had some in cart, site would kick me off, get back in and cart would be empty. Slowly the dolls started to say "sold out". I believe these dolls pretty much would have sold out in 10 min, but the site could not handle the crowds do it took that long to process orders. It felt like a cyber fight of trying to get through the door and run for the dolls. I ended up with nothing, and had to head to eBay. I believe this event caused Disney to do the Villains at a higher price point and double the edition. Big Mistake...as the popularity prior had a lot to do with opportunists....not actual collectors. Did anyone snag a Mother Gothel 4th of July weekend? 20 bucks. So now we are back to what it was like in the beginnings of 2011. Dolls being released and selling out over the course of days instead of minutes. The title wave of eBayers has subsided....and the resellers are in much lower numbers. I really don't think Ariel this time will sell out in minutes. Just my personal opinion as the prior Ariel (I think) drew in non-Disney collectors. She just had a look about her. I also watched the auction where she got as high as $800. It's no wonder people decided to come over and buy a doll for 59 bucks, eBayers really don't upset me...they have a right to buy a doll. But they also get stuck with them sometimes...and if given enough time will panic and start to dump them. That's how I got snow and cinderella for $65 on eBay a couple of months after. Anyhow, fear not. I think everyone who collects and wants one this time will get their doll on release day :)

A great Designer collection would be giving the Princesses fashion gowns based on the time periods that their stories are set in--that would really be neat in my opinion! However, if I'm in charge of the dolls, there would be a heroine line, with all the great ladies who do not have the crown. Plus I'd have a lot more Pocahontas--but then again, that is me.

I'm really liking the idea of a heroine line! It would be fun to see all those characters, plus they would have to put Merida in that line!! I don't think she really fits well with the princess theme....come on she rides horses, does archery, and is an excellent sword fighter! Has heroine written all over it!!!

Gosh I really need to get MORE of my Disney movies on DVD.....I only have a few since my mom was the one that collected most of the movies and they are all in VHS....gosh I feel old!

Anyway, who else would be added to the heroine line? Mulan, Pocahontas, Esmeralda......I know there are many other but like I said I need to get more of my Disney movies!

Heroines Collection:

-Alice
-Wendy
-Tinkerbell
-Esmeralda
-Meg
-Jane
-Kida
-Lilo (child or grown up), child would fit better if they wanted to make Alice and Wendy young too.

What disney doesnt realize is that the people who buy these designer dolls are usually adult characters who have grown up with Disney and know all the movies. So having characters like Kida, Meg, Jane, and Esmeralda is like a god send. Plus, the rarer the character, the better it'll sell. Scalpers are guaranteed to buy along with the fans. It's just a matter of Disney not realizing their full potential.

I wish they would have some sort of heroines collection, if only for the sake of getting more merch for characters we don't see enough of :P . Hypothetically, I don't think they would include Lilo or Tinkerbell (especially because Tink has kind of broken away with her own merch/story/shows). But otherwise that's a good list. I know it would never happen, but I'd love to see Eilonwy in there too.

I'd love to see Disney make an Anastasia Movie and add her to the line of princesses. They could even make her a heroin since she has to come back and reclaim her place as princess. The Russian music and design options would be just beautiful. I would buy her designer or 17" doll in a heartbeat!

Dreamworks(I think) already made a film and it was perfect as it is. Plus I think the whole wave of interest over the Tsar's family has significantly decreased over the years, so doing another movie about Anastasia would be a huge gamble that probably wouldn't pay off.

My personal little "nightmare-adventure" for Rapunzel set.

I was in Paris last week for vacation (back yesterday night) .. and i was in line at 8:50 am in front of Paris Disney store (with cold wind >_<), and a guy of stuff say to us (we were 5 people here) "She is NOT here. We don't know where she will be available." . I was SCARED.

The first thing i've done was to go online (With smartphone) on the uk site and order her immidiately.

Two days later my mom call me and said "I've pick the best rapunzel for you!" .. So, end of my tale: i have now 2 Rapunzel (one is on her way to my house by DHL) .. :D I will probably keep them (one for open , one for keep sake) or maybe I will swap her for Aurora set next year (IF they will produce them too!) :)

***: A little photo of my lovely set. This is special. She had (my mother don't touch her box) the hair IN FRONT of her body - not behind like stock photos) .. :O She is one of the most BEAUTIFUL dolls i ever seen in my life. Seriously. Gorgeous face, dress,accessories.. HAIR !!!!
 Love the Designer Fairytale bag and her indigo box too!

Yaaaay my Rapunzel&Flynn came in yesterday and I'm soo happy neither of them had any flaws! She looks great next to Snow, can't wait till they're joined by Ariel and Belle. Bit worried by the way, I'm also bidding on an auction for 2011 Designer Rapunzel and I'm gonna buy all 3 17" LE TLM dolls, I'm really gonna need some pixie dust to fit all in my room haha.

I agree with you 100% This Rapunzel doll is not only one of the most gorgeous Rapunzel dolls in existence, but one of the most beautiful dolls period! I can't stop looking at her. Ariel has always been my favorite princess and I have been blessed to have such a lovely LM collection. While I love the princesses in general, after Ariel, I have always adored Aurora, but Rapunzel stole my heart from the moment I saw her. When I saw this collection I thought they were all lovely, but Ariel & Rapunzel were the ones I had my heart on. I am crossing my fingers for LE Eric and I am hoping that next year we see an Aurora Fairytale doll and 17" doll! Congrats on getting her, she is a beauty! I too hope that everyone who wanted her got her! :)

For those who ordered Rapunzel online, did you get a tracking number email and did it ever update? I received an email on Friday, Sept 6 that she was shipped. The tracking has not been updated and just says "A label was created" and that she has not been received in the sorting facility. Seems weird that there hasn't been anything else since then. I know before when Ive ordered online Ive received the package without it updating. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else before? I'm thinking about bringing my collection down to just the ones I love and focusing on those: Belle, Ariel, Rapunzel, Tink (and perhaps adding Aurora). Ive always loved Aurora (mainly because she is French.) I should start collecting her too.

Wait, how long has it been?

When I ordered the Designer Ariel 2 years ago, the same thing happened to me. First off, it took the doll like a week and a half or so (phone order) to ship. Once it shipped, that's what the tracking number said about. I waited for 3 days and it hasn't changed. I called back Disney and they said that they can't do anything about till 7-9 business days have passed. Ended up ordering the UK version for my sister. And then after waiting till the 9 days are over, I called them again and they told me that there is nothing they can do but refund my money. They can't send me a replacement. I got so mad.. But thought it was OK, since I already got one for my sister. A month later, the package miraculously appeared in front of my door. And the doll was in there. So my other sister now has one too :)

Jist of the story.. The items might eventually arrive. So Good Luck :)

I'm so glad to hear that you were able to get DFDC Rapunzel & Flynn (well, two set of them...). :) It's always better safe than sorry! It is so weird that the Paris Disney Store did not receive them in time for the actual release date! Now you have 2 of the 2011 Designer Rapunzel dolls and 2 of the DFDC Rapunzel/Flynn dolls! Brava to your mother for going to the Milan store to pick up the best one for you in person! <3

Yes! It was very strange and unplanned :( For fortunate coincidences i had 2 of them for the second time! Rapunzel maybe is my "bring luck" thing! :o

My mother was an ANGEL. She go with my sister and them pick her from 10 dolls. And the funny thing is the diffrent hair position (the hair in the bottom are a mess, but she is perfect for the rest!).
I am so happy, and, yes, you are SO kind. You advise me and worried for me.. *hug*

I'm not panicking yet about it not arriving because I just got the email on Friday (I ordered on the day after she came out) so Im sure it takes awhile. Just thought it was weird that it hadn't updated. I would guess that at least by now it would have been at UPS sorting facility and ready to head to me.

That happened to me too with Maleficent last year. I received the email saying the order was on its way and when I checked the status it always said that they were still waiting for it to arrive so that they could deliver it. Just like with lordofanime I had to wait until a week before they could do anything which really is stupid because clearly there was something wrong. Luckily Maleficent was still in stock so they just put another order through.

i honestly think if it has not updated by 6pm the night of the email that means that they missed out on the item ie they printed the label but forgot to use it as a result the item was missed. I would call them up and have a huge song and dance about it before the dolls are completely sold out at retail. Worst case scenario you can try and find someone on here that still has the doll available in stock in store so that they can grab you one. That way if you end up with two I am sure you wouldn't have trouble selling the other and it would be better than having none.

A question: Today my second rapunzel set is arrived (from Disney store.co.uk).. she is gorgeous (I still prefer my mother's gift one) but.. she had GOLD eyes. Not just pearly shape, the color is actually hazel-gold and in the sunlight they'r gold like her make up!

Is normal? Is a defect? She is a poor unfortunate soul?
:| I still prefer the green'eyes one, she is more like the real rapunzel.. and she mean so much to my heart ...

This is the photo for comparasion : my green eyes one - left, and golden one - right (actually the color in person is really much golder)

Very beautiful pics ^^ i love their finals pose, it 's so romantic and a bit sexy ^^

Thank you! :D

I think its a very romantic pose. :)

Lets face it, she was paying way too much attention to that lantern. Here I feel like she says " Yes, I have my lantern, but you
are my new dream" .

Poor Flynn was feeling all neglected.
