I just added my first pin using the new website. Here's a few observations.
I added the new Mickey DLR PTN pin. It seemed pretty easy, it was all on one screen. The source and attributes were just dropdowns. It was weird I HAD to chose retired or sold out or not. I'm sure it will sell out eventually, but to force a seleciton seemed odd. I noticed there was no attribute for "Spinner" to select (Which I don't think the old site had either.) So I only chose "Movement" and "Series." I uploaded the picture, it did not make me resize it, it just took whatever I submitted. I think it was 50kb, which is more than the old site would take. So less resizing in PowerPoint for me (that tool is easy to resize photos FYI.) So far, pretty normal. But here's where it changes.
They did not give me a list of other pins to see if it matched. They also did not automatically add it to the "new" section. Which makes me wonder if they want to review pin additions first, redo the pictures in different sizes for the "premium" crowd? I don't like that it isn't displayed in the "What's New" section right away. Sometimes I just learn of a pins existence there and have to scramble to the park to get the new pin. But now it has to wait for submission. Not terribly bad, but that is somewhat holding insider info. It's a private website, so they can do that. Probably just more of a moderation thing than a "ooo, lets see it before we tell everyone" kind of thing.
Still, I liked it when I could publish it and see it in the new section. Then if you had more info or you forgot something you could fix/add it. I went to the old site just to see if it popped up there, but nothing yet. If you want to trade/auction a pin you just added to the database I guess we have to call it "pending pinpics review" now, like patent pending or something. Lame.
