Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
I second this! Elsa is my second favorite. (Ariel is always number one). Well said! I also relate to Anna since I was very close to my brother when we were younger, but he also shut me out and I never knew why until a few years ago. Do you wanna Build a snowman had me in tears when I first heard it. But I still find myself relating to Elsa more. I am extremely shy, and feel isolated all the time. I have certain talents that I hide, out of fear too. Elsa is an inspiration, and let it go is such a powerful song! I completely agree with you Siren, and feel the same way!

And on the Ariel subject:

I don't think she's a brat, she is very independent and I believe that makes her strong. "Bratty" to me implies rudeness and disrespect, whining, and not caring about anyone else but yourself. It upsets me that people think so little of her, casting her off as "selfish" and "bratty". She's a young teenager ( like myself in that respect) who is different from those around her, with bigger dreams and aspirations. She knows what she wants, and she's willing to 'go the distance' and do whatever it takes to get her there. I don't believe she thought she was putting anyone but herself in danger if she failed, and she probably felt unwanted and isolated by her father because he doesn't understand her or her dreams. Which I can relate to. I'm not saying she's perfect, but NO ONE IS. Everyone makes mistakes, especially early on in life. She's flawed, but I think that's what makes her strong. She has amazing qualities, and bad ones as well.

Phew... Sorry for the rant... Just Ariel is my all time favorite Character and I hate seeing people 'belittle' her if you will.

I totally get what you mean by Ariel too! She was my favorite until Elsa claimed her spot haha.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but Elsa is not purposely cold--------------SPOILERS

she hides from everyone and conceals her powers in order to protect people around her and the people she loves. Imagine being forced by your parents to shut away your feelings and abilities, she had no choice, she was conditioned to think she was a threat to her sister and after accidentally injuring her she was willing to sacrifice her happiness for her sister. In any case Elsa is very misunderstood in the story line.

As for Ariel, she is also misunderstood by many, but Ariel is certainly not a brat. She lived her life longing for adventure and curious about the world and constantly told she was not allowed to want these dreams. Many people can relate to that. Ariel will always be my #1, I simply adore her ♥

ah sorry i had to go for a sec.

i feel like both the croods and monster U are strong contenders for the oscar.

xD

I didn't feel like The Croods was good enough to win anything. It was cute. But it had some issues. It wasn't flawless. I feel like Frozen is in a much higher category of quality.

Anna vs. Elsa

I just don't get her appeal (although the Coronation dressed doll is amazing!!) I've had a few conversations about this with coworkers. I keep saying "But Elsa is SO mean and cold. She isn't someone you'd want to be around." And the conclusion I have, sorry to say it, is I really think it boils down to Elsa being "sexier." It's classic femme fatale attributes squaring off against "nice girl" charm. I look at her platinum blonde hair (not red), her curvier body, her glittery sparkly nightgown/dress and of course little girls are going to be drawn to that over the more realistic Anna.

I love that there are two princesses that compliment each other, I'm just thinking there is no turning back now is there? Everything is sexy. All of the time.

PS My only complaint about the movie is I wanted more back story into Elsa's powers. Why was she born with them? Was it a family thing? A curse? Was it a first born thing? And also, it would have been nice to see more interaction with her trying to hide her powers from the staff. It was hard to feel sympathetic towards her, especially after she freaked out during the coronation.

But, Elsa is not mean or cold. That's the thing. She's trying to repress the warmth inside her. She adores her sister and because of this love she is hiding everything and having no contact with her. Shes doing it so she never hurts anyone ever, especially her sister. She isn't cold or mean. She's trying so hard to hide and pretend. She's dieing inside it hurts so much to pretend. She is an incredibly good kind warm person who doesn't know how to use her powers because she repressed them and is terrified she is going to hurt others.

However, I do agree her design is sexier, but I think people love her for her magic powers and because we relate to the struggles she has. We all struggle with things on our own, and that was how she was. Struggling on her own hiding her pain. Anna is much more carefree and doesn't have the same problems. We don't relate as much because she is joyous even though somethings in her life are not good and she is hurting over the loss of her sister's companionship. She's adorable, but our heart aches for Elsa.

I managed to snag both the Coronation Elsa and the Winter Gear Anna thank god. This makes my first two limited edition 17 inch Disney Store dolls ive ever bought. Now I just wanna see if the Disney Store will release a 17 inch limited edition Maleficent doll for either the Maleficent movie or the Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition. Either one works for me.

I really enjoy reading how everyone can relate to these characters. Many of your stories are super touching. Bravo to Disney for retelling this story that has struck a cord with so many. Being an older sister myself, as well as having 2 daughters, I think it represents the struggles that siblings can endure very well. Aloha*:)

Ariel is my favorite ( always is and always will) :) I like Elsa a lot too, just Ariel has a brighter personality IMO! Plus my family is HuGE TLM fan. My mother made my english name Ariel, and my little brother, who is 6 years old, Eric. And my father changes his name to Triton to match with us :p When Eric 17" was out, my brother just wants him so much, I ended up buying one for him. And he was like " this is my treasure and it is a LE, I'm not going to deboxed it because I know I will probably break something exidently....." :) so he end up putting Eric next to my Ariel for display! He is way too cute lol

Nominations come out this Friday or Thursday? Cant remember, but I think Frozen is a shoe in and compared to the other animations I believe that Frozen is definitely the front runner. Definitely better than Monsters U, the Croods and Despicable Me 2. Frozen already has the best reviews out of all the animated movies for the year so it is a definite shoe in for the Oscar.

I think the only movie that is competition with Frozen is Miyazaki's "last" (not anymore he announced he's coming back out of retirement) film The Wind Rises. However, despite winning a few rewards it's actually not that done well in Japan and has been highly controversial because of it's subject matter. It's about the guy who invented the fighter planes that were used in Pearl Harbor. I think Frozen is much more likely to win because it's more popular and from what I've heard from those who've seen The Wind Rises a better movie overall. I think a lot of people originally thought it would win because it was supposedly Miyazaki's last movie but since it isn't which isn't all that surprising (this is like the third time Miyazaki has retired) I think it will lose that edge. It's not due to come out until February but it had a limited release sometime last year (sorry can't recall at the moment) to qualify for the Academy Awards which I believe is in March by the way. Anyway I think Frozen should win.

All of your comments have really made me see a different side of this . . . totally agree with your comments, especially relating to Elsa being alone, isolated, hiding things. Very interesting stuff and now I see why these dolls are so popular.

Glad the board has been able to shed some light on this and also super happy your tips helped me secure the dolls for my niece as well. What a great community!

Haha get use to it! I love reading everybody's opinions on this site. Even though the topic has been completely gone off the track from LE dolls related stuff to personally who is better? But that's totally cool, I really dig everyone's comments.

IMO, for how long frozen is gonna last ... Totally seeing it for another year really. I've been told ever since Tangled was released, products have been flying off the shelve since the release till maybe the summer of last year. When the movie is that good, people will go crazy over merchandise for the movie. I should know, I remember Rapunzel is the 1st product to sell out when it's part of merchandise like swim wear, pj's, blankets, & of course toys when they come out during new seasons. Frozen is literally the new "tangled" or "what's hot in Disney stuff" for merchandise wise. Don't get me wrong, Frozen is totally different from Tangled but it totally depends on the kid's view of what they're marketing on. & of course little girls love princesses! & when you have two, you're definitely gonna be seeing big bucks for Disney. Plus Brave didn't take too long for their stuff to go on sale -,-

IMO, for movie nominations coming up, Frozen gots this in the bag. No doubt lol.

IMO, for who I see better of the characters from the movie, OLAF OF COURSE! LOL but if I had to choose between the two princesses, it would definitely be Elsa. & I have no offense with Anna or anything. But once I saw that "let it go" scene, I was like yup Elsa would be my girl there! Like from the singing, to the exquisite animation, to
the building of her castle, & the awesome & amazing music score for that scene, I said to myself "this is definitely going into Disney history for one of the best Disney songs I've heard in a long time for Disney". But my favorite Disney princesses are & will be still is Ariel & Jasmine. Like I literally grew up with these princesses & have so much connection with them. Don't get me wrong, I love Elsa & Anna but I'll love Ariel & Jasmine till the end :D

The only competition Frozen faces is the new Miyazaki film (its getting rave reviews)

Anna is my favorite princess. The second the movie ended I knew. I just love her so much. She and I are so, so very similar. I have never felt more connected to a princess in my life. I love Anna's optimism, her unwavering determination to mend her relationship with her sister. She is goofy, sincere, maybe a bit dumb (but aren't we all at times?), endearing, and passionate. She sacrifices herself without hesitation. Even with her flaws, I think she is grand. I don't quite understand her apparent lack of popularity with the children. It was very rare for me to see a child who preferred Anna to Elsa.

Elsa is popular with children because she has ice powers. She is beautiful, sure, but they love her magic. Children were always in the store, stomping their feet on the ground, trying to make ice explode like a skating rink. They would rip their gloves off and exclaim "The cold never bothered me, Dad!" I have never seen merchandise sell as fast as Elsa's has.

I don't think her glitter factor has anything to do with it. Kids like transformations, always have (Ariel, prime example). If anything, her appearance should be empowering to girls young and old, not something to look upon negatively.

For both girls, I think they are splendid because they teach children that it is okay to be imperfect. To be awkward or misunderstood. But that there are always people who love you and will accept you for your differences, no matter what. I think Anna is the one who truly embodies this message, for she is the one who never gives up. :)

I'm so excited to get these dolls lol. If they DO make Kristoff and/or Hans, I will literally die.

I'm so sorry if this has been answered already somewhere in the thread. I asked before but I couldn't find any response.

Ive never done a preorder before, and I ordered through Paypal. They took out all available funds from my Paypal as normally happens with disney. But in my normal orders, Disney always waits until an item ships before pulling the rest of the funds out from either my bank accnt or Paypal. Are they going to wait till they ship in march to charge me completely? Or should I be expecting them to charge me sooner?

I'm going to keep the funds in there for whenever they do of course, but I just didn't know if I should be worried if my account isn't charged. And light shed for this newbie would be humbly appreciated =>

Did you have enough funds in your paypal account to cover the whole order? Or only a partial amount? Disney does take a hold on your card at the time you place the order however if you pay by paypal I believe they charge you at that point in time. Paypal would then take the funds from your paypal balance and any remainder will be charged to your card through paypal.

If you pay with a credit card they take a hold and this hold will just fall off anywhere between 5 to 30 days depending on your credit card company. They will then place a hold on your order again about a week or two from release date. Based on my understanding if you pay with Disney visa they place a hold of just $1 instead of the full balance.

Again I wouldnt worry too much if your order was placed within 30 minutes of the release (so before 12:30) then it should have gone through ok. Also if they were to cancel your order they would have done so by now. Finally the fact of the matter is your order went through as you have a confirmation so really it doesnt matter if you have gotten charged or not, the important thing is to ensure that you have enough funds to cover your order closer to release date. Also you could always contact Disney Store to check on your order but by the sounds of it they have been receiving a lot of calls about these dolls and as a result arent as "magical" as they usually are LOL

The manager of my store did that today. Of course this is mostly Disney's fault since they chose to pronounce her name AHN-ah, but spelled it Anna when it should be Ana.

The reason Disney chose to pronounce it that way is that they are Norwegian and that is the Norwegian pronunciation. I think it will be interesting to see how many kids are born in the next year or so that are named, "Anna", yet pronounced, "AHN-ah." That should be interesting to see how Frozen changes pop culture!

SO, if the LE Frozen dolls sold out yesterday, I wonder why they are still listed (as sold out) on the Disney Store website?

i think all the products are listed in the domain even if they are sold out, Merida is still on the site too.

if you're asking why they are still popping up in regular searches, maybe disney is leaving them to fulfill some kind of quota on how long they need to have their new items listed on the website for?
i remember the first wave of frozen LE dolls being listed on the site for awhile after being sold out as well :)

Yeah, I did not have the full amount in Paypal for the doll, only half and Paypal is only holding that amount- nothing from my bank. Thanks so much for the reply!! I was just curious because I was expecting them to charge my account completely right now. As it stands I'm going to avoid any stress on my own part and just treat those funds as already spent (since they are) so that whenever disney chooses they want them, then they can take them ^.^

It's weird, cause even the Indiana Jones vinylmation tray is listed on there even though it sold out.

I remember last week, the Tower of Terror set sold out before the site refreshed and it never popped out..

Maybe it's a glitch..

Yes I know that. I was just making the point that they misspelled it based upon the way the chose to pronounce it. Ana is more European whereas Anna is more American. The mispronunciation is particularly frustrating to me because I have "ana" in my name, but because I live in the US most people mispronounce and misspell my name. Whereas when I come across people from other countries they always pronounce and spell it correctly. In elementary school, every time I started a new school year or had a substitute teacher the kids in my class would correct the teacher in unison when the latter mispronounced my name because it happened almost every time. As much as I love Frozen, the one thing that really annoys me is that it could lead to more people mispronouncing and misspelling names that have "ana" and "anna" in them.

Do you think Elsa will become a popular name? It is honestly one that has been on my top girls names list for years. Now I worry it might be popular. Then again even Ariel isn't super popular, so maybe it won't get used too often. Anna I can see being used more because it was already a common popular name. We just might see it said as Ahna more.

I think Elsa will become more popular, at least a little, not only for girls but for pets, too. The only other Elsa I can think of is the lioness fron the book 'Born free'

Also on ebay you can report already sold presale dolls for Elsa and Anna. Just do an advanced search and check sold items. Search for Elsa or Anna limited edition dolls and you will see all the days that already sold. So you can report those also to Ebay by clicking on the auction, click on see original listing at the top and then you can report that item as well. I don't know if ebay will do anything with sold items but it does violate the 30 days so they might.

The Disney Store website performs major site updates every night at midnight only 5 days a week: Sunday night/Monday morning through Thursday night/Friday morning, so the new LE dolls won't clear out from the website until this Sunday night/Monday morning at midnight. :)

I don't see Frozen's popularity dying down. I think it has a very strong chance of at least winning Best Animated Feature. Its only "competition" is The Croods (Dreamworks), Monster's University (Pixar), and Despicable Me 2 (Illumination Studios). I don't really see any of these features beating it out. But that's just my personal opinion.
I can totally seeing it win.

Im sure that these dolls wont drop in price on the secondary market for a very long time. Look at some of the ones that are still super over priced like Designer Ariel, and LE Belle, both which are on my WL/Grail List but I just cant/wont pay $500-600 for them. And how long have they been out already?

I can't believe how fast the prices went up, it's cray cray! I'm curious to see what they will cost in like one year... :ugh:
