Hi all,
I'm curious if the Disney Cats (like Figaro, Aristocats, Oliver...not necessarily Cheshire) are difficult to collect or on the rare/expensive side. They're just SO cute and I think I'd like this to be my collecting focus for a bit. So far I've sort of been collecting all sorts of different things, but I'd like to find a pin category that has a bit to choose from and is still something I like.

Princesses are definitely an obvious option (I love them all) for a wide variety of pins, but since so many people collect them, I sort of want to focus on something else, but that still has some femininity.

Anyway, who here collects Disney Cats? Are they hard to come by?

Thanks!
Melanie

I collect them too But I'm at the very begining of it so I can't really help you to figure if it's hard or not.
I think if you have popular trader, you can manage to get some

There are a nice mix of cheap, medium and really expensive Disney Cats. I'm sure they would be fun for you to collect!

Awesome, thanks guys! I think I'm definitely gonna go for it. I officially have ONE under my belt- Figaro!

Morue, you have some CUTE Aristocat pins in your signature! Good luck finding them!

It could get to be a pretty big collection. The cheshire cat for instance has hundreds of pins some are hard to get but I rekon you could a fair few fairly easily. Si and am have a good amount but most of them are low LE and I imagine would be rather hard. So its a mix

Thanks! I like Si and Am, but I'm not a huge Cheshire fan- though I can see probably holding onto a couple if I come across some fun ones. I think I'll be looking for the Aristocats, Figaro, and Oliver more than the rest of the bunch and then Simba (as he is technically in the cat group).

Hi.. I collect cats.. hence the name! LOL

It is a VERY fun group to collect. I have some for trade.. open edition ... but there are a LOT of Marie! She is fun to collect due to her cat-i-tude. I also LOVE SI and AM.. but they are my most difficult group to attain. So much so.. that they are in my siggy just so people know to see if i have something they want for theirs! Simba is also fun to collect. I have pictures.. but since i am not able to post pics.. (not too sure why) but if you want to see.. email me at Purrfectionconnection@gmail.com I am always willing to share! and show!

Yeah, like Jade said, there is a nice mix of price ranges with collecting the kitties. Si and Am is one of two my primary collections, but I have found it to be kinda frustrating. While there are affordable pins out there, once you get them, you're left with the hard to find and/or pricey pins, along with a couple that are just downright impossible. But other cats, like Figaro, seem to have more in the way of an actual range and you may not have to worry so much about the impossible with them. Plus, with Figaro in particular, the pins are absolutely adorable whether they're among the easier or the more difficult. His pins are just the cutest!!! Good luck with your collection!!

My main collection is Si and Am and the older ones with low LEs are really hard to come by. I've been collecting for 3-4 years now and there are quite a few that I wonder if I'll ever get because nobody's trading them and if they show up on ebay, they are for more than I want to pay, but I'm not giving up! Patience pays with this hobby and one you really want will show up when you least expect it. I collect Lucifer, Aristocats, and Figaro as well. Love the cats!

I collect the Big Cats (Lion King, but not Shere Khan, Bageera, ect). I don't collect the house cats (Marie, Si, Am..ect). Good luck in your collecting and just have fun.

Thanks all!

Sounds like I can probably have some fun acquiring a couple quicker and then enjoy the hunt for others. After all, what would the fun be in getting everything at once!

You all have gotten me quite excited. I need to make a real signature with pins in it! Haha!

i got the villain kitties,,

Si and Am , Lucifer, Shere Khan<nearly a completitst> Scar, check my collection list,, as was said earlier, the older pins are like gold, and BEWARE, becuase they are popular charcaters they are targets for scrappers occasionally, but on the whole Kitties are even more popular as a catagory than most non fab 5 characters, expect to have to work to get the tougher ones as much as any Rapunzel or Jasmine pin.

just sayin'

I demand cute kitty photos of kitty collections!

This may come as a shock but I don't like Aristocrats OR Pinocchio....And with that being said I still collect the kitties. It started because of a friend and now I collect them all because I had five cats come into my life in the last 4 years and I just love them.

As everyone else said there are good and bad of every collection, and hard to get and easier things.

If you want some good tips try for the open edition things first, and look for UPCOMING pins. In May a brand new Cats and Dogs mystery boxed set is coming out. 1 pin per box, and it's got all the staples: Marie, Sai and am, figaro, oliver and cheshire cat. For 5$ a pin.

There's also a cute Sai and Am rack pin out.

ALSO the father's day pin this year is Lion King
http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=65414

So these are gonig to be easy to obtain kittehs coming out soon.

And they're pretty cute! Also as I know most of us kitty traders here...I'm pretty sure quiet a few of us have kitties on our wants AND trades list.

THEN.

Most of the Marie pins and quite a few Disney cat pins are mostly from Paris, HKDL, and TDS.

If you gan get a friend in the UK, the Paris line of Cats and dogs is now on the UK Website, as is the Cupcake characters set (There's only a Marie kitty in that set.)

As for older pins, just make a wants list and don't lose hope, they'll come to you in time!

This may come as a shock but I don't like Aristocrats OR Pinocchio....And with that being said I still collect the kitties.

 Same here! Pinocchio is one of my least favorite Disney classics, and yet Figaro is my largest character collection!

@melanium - Most collections can get hard and/or expensive, depending upon which pins you want. There are some cat pins that are much easier than other cat pins. My primary cat collection is Figaro, and I have collected nearly 20 pins in the time I've been collecting. (About a year.) Most of these pins were relatively easy to get - in the $7-20 price range.

If you just want some cute pins of each cat character on your list, you'll be fine. It's generally the older, limited edition pins that are hard to track down. I have long since come to accept that I will never own ALL of the Figaro pins, and that is fine with me, as I only collect the ones I really love the design of.

Wow, great info, thank you! I'll definitely keep an eye out for the new ones. Now to do some scouring on trade matches!

By the way, I have two kitties, brother and sister. They'll be 7 this year and they are best friends, funny, and of course very cute.

Work hard?! No one warned me about working hard...I quit!

Hahaha!

I've never liked Pinocchio either- it's pretty creepy, hahaha. But Figaro is cute.

Yeah, I think I'll just be going for a few of each character I like. I'm still a new collector and haven't even begun the big LE hunt. I actually wear a lot of my pins when I go to the park, so having some lesser-expensive options will allow me to wear more pins without the paranoia of losing them!

I'm a big Figaro collector, there are some particularly tricky ones of him to get hold of but all in all it's quite an enjoyable collection
