Ever get that feeling when you feel like you're collecting so many different things and themes, that you decide to give up certain collections and just trade them out? I've given up on Chip and Dale (even though by username is chipdale... HA!), Beauty and the Beast, and Pinocchio.

Your turn! What collections have you given up on in your time pin collecting?

I just started trading, and as I was deciding what to go for, I gave up on Ray (The Prncess and the Frog) right from the start. I love him so, but there are just so few pins with him, and so many low LEs that I knew I'd get frustrated too quickly. Someday, maybe.

When I first started I was experimenting with a bunch of things and I tried to focus on Ursula, Little Mermaid, and Pudge. All 3 of them failed but I still collect pins I like from those 3 collections ^_^

I used to collect all of the princesses but then I cut it down to main princess belle and secondary Cinderella. But I still like some of the other princess pins. We also used to collect holiday pins, I think we are going to start collecting them again though.

I go through phases of the four I collect: Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Tangled, and Brave.
I have other pins too but I just hold onto them for sentimental value. I really wanted to do all of the Happily Ever After pins...but finding all of them are impossible.
So I only have this one:

Collecting Rapunzel has made me give up all of my other princess pins except my Ariel grails. I am trying to start an Alice collection since I don't get too many Rapunzel pins and need something to fill my time... I have given up Ariel and Belle and Aurora collections for Rapunzel.

Tangled:: I Divorced it. It was a bad break up. There was crying. There was anger. The was shock. But in the end, it was for the best.

Pink Pirate:: Yup, Pirate pins in Pink. I had roughly 23 of them at some point. Pink Pirate princess, Tinker bell in a pink pirate costume, that sort of thing. I got tired of them, IDK why but I did. So I put em in my traders and almost all of them have found new homes.

Tinker Bell:: I still collect certain tinker bells, both for myself and for my 4 yr old. But When i started trading, my ambition was to fill a LARGE pin book with just Tink. Every Tink i could find that was different, either via pose, dress, style whatever.... No 2 Tink's exactly alike. I got to 3 whole pages, and got tired of it. So now I collect certain "purple" theme Tink's for me, Pixie hollow fairies for me. AND Tinker Bell with sassy sayings and writing for my daughter.

Thumper:: I have stopped and started Thumper soooooo many times it is ridiculous If I had never stopped, I would have about 50 of him by now. Instead, I currently own about 10 Thumpers. I narrowed it way down to "ONLY" one of Each pose Disney has created as a pin. So I am just super picky with my Thumpers.

I have also gone through "phases" where I end up with a whole page in my trade book of one thing, not because i collect, but because I think "Oh, pretty, those might be fun." And thus sample collect for a couple months...

Lets See, I have "sample collected" :: Atlantis, Little Mermaid, Stained glass, Bugs Life, and carousel horses. But all of them eventually go back to being traded.

I started collecting because of Brave. I wanted all the Brave merch I could get my hands on because I love the movie so much (hence the username) but I hate the Brave pins. I find the majority of them to be either really ugly or creepy (opening day pin and marquee). I was going to collect all the princesses but I don't like all the princess enough to invest my time into collecting them all. I've pretty much given up collecting Jasmine and Belle. Though there are some Belle pins I still really want. I'm debating whether or not to give up collecting Little Mermaid. There are a few pins I really want/are grails. I'm thinking about just making a really nice frame for the Ariel pins I really like and leave it at that. Little Mermaid was my favorite film growing up but the pins I want are really really pricey. I'm having the same problem with Sleeping Beauty. I absolutely adore the movie but the pins I want are really expensive. Snow White and Cinderella are the only two princesses I plan on seriously collecting right now. The majority of the pins I really want are reasonably priced ($60 and under). I have also just fallen in love with the movies and histories of both movies.

Does anyone else feel guilty for giving up collections? I didn't feel bad about giving up Brave. I feel awful considering giving up collecting Ariel and Belle though. They were my two childhood favorites. Though maybe I'll just put collecting them on hold until I get a job/pay off student loans when I have money I can actually blow on the really expensive pins.

Hmm...collections I gave up on... that's a toughie for me since my collection is a little bit of everything (which is also prolly why it's hurting me trade wise atm XD) butttttt I must say I have "given up" collecting Tangled, unless I can get the pins at retail or NOT trade away everything I own for them (which is rare).

I was very fortunate to get the infamous Tangled BT and Rapunzel PTE pin at retail cost bc I was at the DSF release, but I honestly cannot see myself spending +$100 on each pin, even though I LOVE Tangled. Having both the Tangled BT and Rapunzel PTE pin did inspire me to continue to collect Tangled, however I don't know how realistic that is given the prices for those pins. Now if we're talking certain Ariel pins or PoDMs.... thaaaaaat's another story I have been considering as of late... maybe

I gave up on Stitch after his initial burst of popularity. It was just too many pins. I gave up on Jessica for the same reason.

i started with the idea of one pin from each film, as well with my ariel, tangled and stitch. now i just focus tangled, but its hard so ariel is my relaxing collection ahahahahaha. karl started with chernabog, villains, maleficent, all given up on. we don't feel bad, everyones tastes change.

When I first started out I was going to collect villains, especially Evil Queen from Snow White, but got discouraged/lost interest when I noticed how many were the same pose of her holding the apple and there are just so many villain pins I was overwhelmed, so decided to do just villain cats-Si and Am and Lucifer. I started Chip and Dale too at the beginning and again, so many pins of them I decided to narrow it down to holidays with them. I started out with getting a few of different characters/themes that I liked but soon realized I needed to concentrate more on certain characters/themes or else I'd be spending a fortune.

I will never give up on Brave and Figaro. My "Minnie as a Witch" collection might wear a bit thin, but it's special to me because I went to DLR and WDW at Halloween. And I've only just started my WDI Sorcerer hat characters so we'll see how that pans out!

I don't think I've ever 'given up' on anything yet- I just put it into the back of my priorities and start something new over the top of it- bad idea I know, but I'm a hoarder so y'know  I don't actively look for Nightmare Before Christmas pins though, as I only really like the ones that show off the great art in the film... not pins with Jack in the same pose all the time  ;)

Tink for me. There are way tooo many Tink pins. And sadly many of the Halloween costumed Tink jumbos also got scrappered :( I only want very few DA Tink pins now, but they are so hard to find, so my collection is like crawling. I am lucky if I can add one per year.

Ive given up on Beloved Tales TWICE, yes twice, collected some and then traded them away. Later decided I would collect them, collected quite a few and then decided not to. I think Tangled will be the next one I stop bothering with, because the price they go for is just making them unattainable.

I gave up on PODM pins, nowI only have 1 for my BATB collection and 1 for my Little Mermaid collection. I also stopped collecting sleeping beauty and Cinderella because it didn't interested me much when I started collecting them. I gave up on Tangled twice but still collect Tangled but only the pins I like :)

Halloween pins. I started with MNSSHP pins in 2003 and it wasn't impossible getting the 2001 and 2002 pins, there aren't too many. I eventually purchased the 2003 framed set. Disney started creating so many Halloween pins it wasn't fun anymore, just a quest (I mean, have you seen how many 2006 MNSSHP pins there really are, it is madness). Now I just get a couple a year, if I'm at the parks at the right time.

I also tried to catch up on Figment and Haunted Mansion pins, but that was madness too. It was the WDI Figment releases that taught me both of those subjects are too big to complete, and I needed to define my completest focus better or be selective about the ones I really like.

I'm slowing giving up on Nightmare Before Christmas pins. I have a good amount of them so far, and there are a few I'm looking for, but I'm not a fan of the newer Nightmare pins coming out. The art is kind of funky, overpriced, and not as nice as the Nightmare pins released a good 5 years ago. And I'm tired of their mystery sets!!!

Well, I guess I've given up on Beloved Tales. I had the 5 most recently released ones with dreams of collecting the set. Thankfully someone straightened me out and told me I'd be insane to attempt that this late in the game. I actually sold the 5 BT's I had this past week. (Still want the Mary Poppins one though, lol)

When I first started collecting I had quite a few categories going...

-Princesses
-Tinker Bell
-Jessica
-Alice
-Caterpillar from Alice
-Also added Brave when that movie came out

Now I am really only collecting:

-Princesses
-Tinker Bell DA sets, Tinker Bell dressed as other Disney characters
-And I added Beloved Tales, so I could get a taste of all Disney movies in one nice collection :)
